Can't verify the author, but it's reputed to be George Carlin: (Mike's {ON3GO} argument with his Dad made me think of it): GEORGE CARLIN POST 9-11 (His wife recently died...) Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - gross and mouthy comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent ...and so very appropriate post 9-11. A wonderful Message by George Carlin: The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete. Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side. Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent. Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak, and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. HOW TO STAY YOUNG 1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctor worry about them. That is why you pay him/her. 2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. 3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. " An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's. 4. Enjoy the simple things. 5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. 6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive. 7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.Your home is your refuge. 8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help. 9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is. 10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. And if you don't send this to at least 8 people.... who cares? -George Carlin

Hey Mike, I thought the whole point of this project was for you and your Dad to 'bond'? Looks like the car is getting the better of both of you. It's just a piece of steel and plastic....doesn't help to get so wound up.... Tim

My neighbor has two early nineties 126 series diesels. Those damn things won't die!! One has 260,000 miles and the other has a newer engine, but has way more than that. Tim

That is not the intent at all. Like Denny says, we've had some 'problems' recently and we are now trying to nip some of the 'stuff' in the bud. It may come off as harsh in the beginning, but it's not intended to be. Read the rules page, and at least attempt to keep them in mind as you post. Welcome to HZ. Try not to take things too personally. 'nuff said, I think Tim

I did a search for "Scat Crankshafts" on Google. Got a bunch of hits, butt some of them were completely unrelated to engine parts. Holy crap!!1 It was the grossest thing I've ever seen in my life...and of course you can't get rid of the spawning windows!! Now I'll remember to get the 'mouseover' blurb on the website before I click on it!! Tim

Please do a search. This topic has come up a million times, and most recently within the last week or so. I will delete this post in a while. Tim -
Please this in its entirety, paying particular attention to #2: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=24170 Thanks, Tim

Use MS paint. Open the image, select "image', select "Stretch/Skew", and put in a percentage (<100%) of the current size you would like. Probably try 80%. Tim

Ha ha...too late for that!! Tim

Tim240z replied to tannji's topic in Non Tech Board
If you plan to do some engine rebuilds, maybe consider a 'clean room' with filtered air so that when you are assembling and engine, you have a clean area and don't have to worry about crud falling into your engine, and you can lay out all your parts before assembly and everything will stay clean. Guy, You got that thing running right yet? Tim -
Not sure how well it works, but I've enjoyed great results with other equipment from HF. For $180.00 you can't really go wrong. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=38375 Tim

Coil over question
Tim240z replied to john kosmatka's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
John, You do not have to section the struts if you aren't going to lower the car any more than about 1 to 1.5 inches. Any more than that and you lose too much shock travel. The advantages to coilovers are: the ability to run slightly wider wheels, the ease/low cost of changing spring rates (one rate for the road, one set for autoX, one set for drags etc), and the ability to set ride height and thus abilty to set weight distribution (using corner weight scales). If your car is only going to be a road car (with a few drag and auto cross runs sprinkled in), and you don't need any extra clearance for rims, then a regular set of lowering springs will do the trick. Joe, I think that the consensus may be that to get the best out of a stock manifold you will need to do both. Extrude honing will make it very smooth, and the porting will open it up. Tim

Keep this in mind... Arnold has received an endorcement form the CA Chamber of Commerce. This is historic as it is the first time this organization has ever endorced a Candidate for CA Governor in its entire history!! I believe that this is indicative of Arnold's pro-business policies, and that's exactly what this State needs. The democrats, under Davis, have all but driven the business man to Nevada, Arizona, Mexico and China. I think that's it's worth the gamble to get a 'non-politician' candidate into Sacramento. My 2c worth! Tim

Glenn, When I took my headers in to get coated, I asked the guy at Rewarder Headers about coating and wrapping to decrease underhood temps even more. He said DON'T DO IT!! He was very emphatic about it. So that confirms everything else I've heard about using wrap. Tim
