  1. I did a search and couldn't come up with anything. Does anyone have any details/instructions on using the OEM engine management system of the ZXT for a swap into a 240? All the search results I found recommended going aftermarket. Is it possible to do a budget conversion using the stock components, without the expense of SDS, or something else? Thanks, Tim
  2. You won't see bubbles because it's not blowwing, it's vaccuum. The spray idea works best for gasket leak checks. For tubing leak checks, process of elimination works best. Get a few vaccuum caps from the parts store and plug the manifold one line at a time until you hear the motor's sound change. Might be a quicker way, but that's always what I've used. Tim BTW, if you suspect you vaccuum lines, just replace them. Vaccuum tubing is cheap!
  3. Check wheel bearings Check to see if you still have all the wheel weights (might have thrown one) Check to see if the tires were installed correctly (most tires have little colored ink dots on the sidewall, usually red or yellow, which indicates high, or heavy spots on the tire). The dots (which ones depends on the manufacturer) line up with the valve location. Check the lug nuts for tightness. If all the above are cool, take them back to the shop for rebalancing. Tim
  4. You can get some battery terminal spray coating from the parts store, or just use vaseline. Tim
  5. I love that movie!! I bet if the ricers get a hold of it, then it will have a light trail! Tim
  6. Steve, Have you checked to see if your lower radiator hose (suction side) is collapsing? That may be the problem if it doesn't have the spring inside the hose to prevent that. Tim
  7. Here is another pic. It's the Pontiac Solstice. Kinda reminds me of a Bugeye Sprite; BTW, it has voice recognition. The dude said "Wake up Soltice", and the car says (in a very sultry female voice), "Soltice, Awake". Kinda cool! Tim
  8. I don't think that the cabling is the problem. The starter is battling to turn the high compression engine. A gear reduction starter may be the best way out, or get an ignition system that allows you to retard your timing during startup. Tim
  9. Yes it will. You can go thinner if you like. I used 18 gauge to hold my 16 gal cell. Tim
  10. Well, The guy's car IS unique!
  11. Most times you would just cut the whole roof off at the pillars and weld in another one. Tim
  12. Sounds like the classic 'bait and switch'. Give 'em hell, and if you can document that the vehicle is included in the promotion, the dealer is obligated to honor the deal. Tim
  13. Went on Saturday. Some very cool stuff on the horizon. Snapped a few pics: The Caddy XV12. Looks even more spectacular in person. Saturns new drop top. Also looks very nice...Kinda Edsel'ish GMs prototype fuel cell vehicle: New Cavalier. GMs econobox is growing up!
  14. Several guys have emailed me for the part numbers I used for my re-wire of my 240 LT1. So here it is: Go here to Waytek's website and enter the part number (remember, I wired mine for LT1 conversion and am not running wipers). 1:Relays. I used 14, you may need less, depending on your application.(part # 75002) 2:Flasher Relays: I used 2 (left and right turn signals), no 4 way hazards.(Part # 42011) 3:Fuse Block: One needed. Has 2 power inputs, so I ran 4 fuses with constant power and 16 with ignition only power.(part #46074) 4: Output terminals for fuse block.(1 bag, gives plenty of leftovers). These are required for the above fuse block. (for 16-14 gauge wire, part #31037) 5: Optional stuff: Part#20970: Cold shrink tape Part#21010: Electrical tape Part#22288: Heat shrink tubing kit I had a bunch of wire that I got from work. It is all 14 gauge, but anything from 14 to 18 will work. I bought a bunch of spade terminals (insulated male and female from Home Depot, but they are also available from Waytek Wire). Tim
  15. I know that Lingenfelter charged $25,000.00 for the engine alone. , but then the same guy that owns the RX7, also owns a McLarenF1, so cost is not much of an issue to him. Hell, he pays more for a sevice on the MF1, than I have in all my cars put together!!! Tim
  16. What about the Impreza WRX? Nice little package. Just got back from the LA Auto Show, some very nice stuff on the horizon!!!! Especially from the likes of Buick, Pontiac and Cadilac. Tim
  17. I've had that problem before with another type of car. Was fuel pressure related.(as in too much) Tim
  18. My original fitment was with the 200 4R Auto....No tunnel beating. Then I put in the T56....no beating, rather gentle persuation in very localized spots. Tim
  19. I know I've posted about this before, but I've driven a Lingenfelter prepped V6TT in a RX7, putting out 1000+ HP at 20lbs boost. Even with the 305mm wide tires, they could paint the freeway at 90mph!! Lots o fun!! Tim
  20. The only ad I can see that even vaguely mentions carpet kits is "Too Intense Restoration" Web site is: www.datsunrestore.com . They also mention that if you say that you saw their ad in Sport Z mag, you get 10% off. HTH. Tim
  21. It's going to be tough to get a big block (454) into your ZX. The 400ci is the same physical size as the 350. 305 is same size, but lower displacement....leave it alone. HTH, Tim
  22. Mike (TheBrit), I went the cheap route. I pulled the vanes out of the PS pump, put some oil in it (for lubrication and cooling obviously) and plugged the inlet and outlet. Then I made and adjustable idler pulley (used a ford V6 unit, but in hindsight, I could have just used the Camaro one), to pull the belt away from the PS pump. I also got a belt one size smaller than stock, and it works well. HTH, Tim
  23. Remember guys!, it's easier to ask for forgiveness, than to ask permission!! Tim
