  1. Plumb in a pressure gauge just before the muffler with some copper tubing. 1 psi of back pressure is considered non-restrictive 2-4 psi is still good and will not make much difference on a street car. 5+ psi is costing you HP All those pressures are measured at WOT, so testing gets a bit tricky, but maybe a track day would help.....
  2. Where are you guys buying them from? Summit wants more than the msrp for one. I've seen a couple of places that are ~$10 less than msrp, but maybe there's better? Tim
  3. Grew up in Bedforview/Edenvale/Midrand.....now living in Los Angeles. Where are you? Tim Hepburn

  5. Good to see another 'dutchman' on the board. Welcome. Not too many Z cars over there, so either way you will have a nice unique ride. Tim
  6. Where is your interview? El Segundo?
  7. Anyone know any info, or where I can get some info on the GM V8 that came out in the Olds Aurora. 1. Do any of the rear drive trannies bolt up? 2. Power increase potential (I know that IRL used that engine base). Came oem with 250hp, which is pretty respectable. 3. Any major reliability issues (it's based on it's big brother, the Caddy NorthStar). The Shelby 1 is using that powerplant... With those 32 valve heads, I'm sure it can be made to work nicely. Thoughts?
  8. Not a beer expert, and will never pretend to be. Most (all?) American domestic brews taste like piss. I love "St. Pauli Girl" Beer.... Tim

I thought about it, but i sold the LT1 for the same reason I don't want an LS1....I want to build the motor myself with my own choice of parts and combinations, not something the factory has done....I did think long and hard about it though.....
  10. It is your option. Click on "quick links" above and select "Edit Options". About 2/3 of the way down is a place to change thread age cutoff.....pick what you like

WOW, great fitment! I bet more than just the Z car guys will be buying these......
  12. Doc, What heads and valvetrain? What you have is very similar to what I am looking at (except for 4340 crank). 3.5 throw crank, 6" rods, forged 10.3:1 pistons with 76cc chamber heads (AFR I think...haven't decided yet). Going with the 4-7 swap cam and hydraulic roller lifters and rockers. Is your HP at the wheels or crank?
  13. Last word I heard was that the mass of mud was going to stay and the County Sheriff has proclaimed it a geologically unsafe area. That statement paves the way for the area to be closed permanently....we'll see....
  14. Stock Vortecs are limited to about .410-.420. With the upgraded valve springs you can push them to about.510 Unless your cam is very very timid, there is no reason to band aid the valvetrain by using 1.6 ratio rockers....also, make sure that they are self-aligning rockers.
  15. Sähköposti: means what? Nevermind...figured it out: E-mail, or directly translated "electric mail"

    Dual Exhaust

I bought some oval/round transition tubing from DrGas to help with the clearance problem caused by the slave cylinder of the T56 (LT1) on my 73Z. Nice pieces.
  17. Any decent driveshaft shop should be able to supply you with what you need. If he can't, find another shop. If it was just to shorten and rebalance, no parts would be required.
  18. how about some expanding foam, sprayed into a garbage bag in the box? Lots of big parts I've gotten have been wrapped like that and it seems very effective.
  19. Owen and I are doing a roadtrip up to San Fran. Leaving Friday early morning, and coming back Sunday. Staying at Stan's place (thanks again Stan). I am picking up my new TT 'glass hood that I won on E-bay. Anyone want to get together while we're up there. We have no plans, apart from hitting the junk yards while we're there. PM me and I will give you my cell number. Tim
  20. Damn Dave....haven't you fired that thing yet?
  21. This is by far the most commonly asked question....search through the archives.
