My friend is serving some time in jail on a BS charge. He is there nights and weekends so he can still work and goto school. Left his key on his bag next to his bunck which goes to his Audi S4. Next day went out to goto work....car gone...from a jail parking lot...
  4. I miss machining class....I made a pair of die for one of my projects...we also made punches, which came in handy!!! Worked at a machine shop for a year and a half and loved it! Definitly fun stuff. Great work!!

  10. Well. I thought about it today and I'm just going to get a new pressure plate. Its not worth doing all the work and not getting a new pressure plate. As far as the flywheel, I cant afford a new one so thank you all for your help and Evan purple240zt I sent you an email. The 300zx non turbo pressure plate will bolt up to the RB25 correct? Thanks for your help guys!!
  11. Hi all, I need some parts if possible. I am replacing the clutch in my car and I already have the clutch disk and bearings. I will need a RB25 flywheel (RB20,RB26 I guess are the same). I dont care if its used it just needs to be able to machined and reusable. Basically I only have one day to do this and this is my daily driver so I need to have a machined flywheel ready to go in when I do the clutch. I did some searching and seems like the 300zx non-turbo flywheel is the same size but Im not 100% sure if it bolts up. I also need a rb25det dipstick, I will be doing the dipstick swap for the rear sump pan while the motor is out. Any help will be appreciated! Just let me know what you want for them and where you are located. I posted in the wanted ads but seems like this will get a quicker response thanks! Also Im pretty sure you have to have the pressure plate machined aswell but just wanted to make sure I am correct?
  12. No problem. Once you know how to search then its just reading from there. Good luck with your swap.
  13. Oh and I almost forgot. Never try and do these things on a budget. You will definitly be spending more then $4,000 on the swap. You may be spending 1500 on a motor and tranny if your lucky. Dont forget about mounts, intercooler, exhaust, things you have to replace on the motor from age like timing belt, water pump, oil pump etc. Oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, even the little stuff like that will add up on your bill. Drive shaft, intercooler piping, spark plugs, gauges, clutch. Trust me, I have more then twice into my swap as your budget says. You will be lucky if you dont run into any hard spots too. Once you get the motor running, you have to get it running correctly.
  14. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=115833 Wiring. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=100614 Part numbers you will need. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=77962 Information. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=99258&highlight=rb25det+mounts Motor Mounts. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111175&highlight=rb25det+mounts Some of my Information on my swap This took me about five minutes and most of the links are from stickies on the main RB page.
  15. Its also probably a good thing I weigh 150 pounds
  16. Head gasket only, then monster build. MMMM I love those words....monster build. hehe. I may be planning a monster build of my own....
  17. Id take you up on that but I need to get my clutch in and then its on to wiring the wolf in on my car. I probably wont start weight reduction until I move back to Oregon. Then I will start prepping the car for track days and time attack.
  18. I am very happy to answer this question. I just weighed my car and the results are here http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=124391 . Once you read the thread you will realise I am very very close to a perfect 50 50 weight distribution front to rear. These are just starting numbers considering I still have everything inside the car that came with the car except for the seats are different. After the swap my car handles better then it did before but since then I have done some mods. I only have motorsport springs and kyb struts along with suspension technique sway bars. Sooner or later I will install a full coilover setup on the car and well....you can guess how it will handle. A Z car will handle only as good as you can make it handle....meaning the more work you do to have a balanced car....the more fun you will have
  19. Hmm other weight additions I can remove? Indeed. All glass can be changed to Lexan. Remove Carpet. Remove Door Panels. Remove center console. Remove Headliner. Remove Passenger seat. Remove All plastic interior pieces. Remove Heater. Remove Spare tire/air canister/tool kit/jack. Remove rear wood cover over the spare tire. Remove rear bumper mounts. Thats what I can think of. Any other input is appreciated.
  20. Yep!! Got the Z on the scales today and I have to say I am very pleased!!! 1978 Datsun 280z RB25DET, no bumpers, full interior, including spare tire. Only thing thats off the car are the bumpers. Without me in the car. LF: 644lbs. RF: 753lbs. LR: 700lbs. RR: 672lbs. Total: 2,770lbs. Me in the car. LF: 695lbs. RF: 750lbs. LR:759lbs. RR: 672lbs. Total: 2,907lbs. According to the scales weight distribution front to rear is: 50.8% to 49.2% I was very happy to see that. My car isn't the lightest but for a full interior car Im very happy with it. Also the gas gauge was on empty.
  21. In a perfect world, if you have everything that the ECU is tuned for on your motor then you get the ECU plug it in and go. But you need to have everything exactly what its tuned for or else you wont get the most out of it. I dont know how much $$ they are asking for that ECU but if you plan on changing your car, then you have to get a different chip in the ECU or have it reflashed. I went standalone for this reason, I can change parts on my car then plug my laptop in and adjust whats necessary. Also changes can be made for weather conditions aswell. Do plenty of research on what you want to do and how you want to do it. Look at other companies out there and see whats for you.
  22. I definitly thought it was a great match up. Rx-7 had handling while supra had him easily on the straits. Both cars were making a good amount of power. You could tell at the end the supra was loosing focus because a couple times he got on it early in the corner and started to loose traction. Rx-7 was more aggresive in traffic but you notice when the supra passes he stays ahead until he hits traffic. One thing about the rx-7 that didnt impress me was his blocking, a couple times on the straits he would block the supra.... This video just makes me want to get out on the track and have some fun
  23. This is the first time I have actually yelled at my computer because of a track video. Supra sounds amazing!! But RX-7 has the handling..Who will win?? You have to watch!!! Long video, but real action starts around 18 mins in. ENJOY!!! http://videos.streetfire.net/video/15936880-bce8-4fd9-a3f4-99150053f303.htm
  24. Wo Wo wait.... Graduation present??? Hey I graduate in Febraury 2008. And see well....I have been needing a turbo you see....Because 7lbs just aint cuttin it you know? *cough gt35r cough* haha just kidding. Great present, Id like to see videos of that! I saw a video of a 2jz in a datsun pickup. Madness!!!
  25. Engines that are newely rebuilt are tight and will run warmer then normal until properly borken in. But if you have a couple hundred miles on it then it shouldn't matter.
