  1. Hey Phil, make sure you have plenty of cut off wheels handy, cutting down those mounting ears was a PIA!!! Get two three inch bolts from home depot and cut the bolt heads off and use as a guide to help align the trans onto the engine as you guide it in (do not tighten guide bolts so you can easily unscrew once you have the trans matted up and replace with correct trans bolts), works like a charm and only cost about $2.00. Also, you will need to tilt the engine back and use two floor jacks to lift the trans into place (make sure it is in neutral)...did it myself with a little help from my 8 year old on the jacks.
  2. I'm running a Turbonetics T3/T04E 50 trim ar60 compressor (stage 3 turbine wheel w/ internal wastegate)...and a 3 inch exhaust. Base timeing is aprox 17.5 deg...will be bumping up the timing to 20 deg and push boost to 18 psi when engine is all broken in...looking for about 350hp at the wheel...current A/F ratio is at about 11.5 under boost.
  3. What compression ratio are you running? Just got done with my 3.1 stroker turbo build with similar spec's except for I'm running the stock 90a cam and my seat of the pants dyno puts it at about 250 hp at 12psi. Im running a JWT z31 tuned ECU wth a 8.3 CR...
  4. Are we reinventing the wheel here...what's wrong with the original sticky? I did the swap with the celica inner and subi outer and everything fits up great...hardest part to the swap was notching the crossmember to fit the subi rack and that only took about 20 minutes....had my local machine shop fab’ed up the connections to mate the subi low and high pressure piping to the 280zx piping from the power steering pump and that was it. Steering works great with much faster response and a breeze to drive and park...no longer feels beaten up after spirited runs and I have a lot of spirit:)
  5. ezzzzzz recommendation works every time....also, it helps if you are in neutral.
  6. I can send you a driveshaft for your 76 280z for $75 shipped. In excellent condition, came off my '78 z w/ 5-sp.
  7. If the odometer works fine then your cable connections from the trans to the back of the speedometer are properly connected; sounds like you need a new speedometer or have it repaired. See them on ebay all day long...
  8. No big deal man, I did not want to hammer the tunnel and he only charged me $20. I have been having a very bad vibration coming from the shifter under acceleration and primarly in first and second, any ideas? I'm running the Garrett style transmission mount with the 7 inch carriage bolts and I installed all new OEM bushings and shifter components as you recommended to fit the Fidanza shifter.
  9. Yea, everything bolt up fine but it was hitting the pasenger side of the trans tunnel and one of welds on the left side cracked when I bent the bracket during the install. Had the machine shop remove a small section to allow for clearance and added a few support welds in the critical areas.
  10. Big enough for me...have the same set-up with rear 240sx disk.
  11. Time for glasses...thanks man!
  12. Sure wish I had seen this post yesterday. I dropped off mine at a local machine shop to get some additional fab work done to it this morning. I hope they haven't started the work yet...do you have a ball park price???
