  1. Xylemer, Do you know if I can get my custom JIM Wolf tuned Z31 ECU program flased on to a NISTUNE Chip/ ECU? In other words, I would like to send them my 88 NA ECU with the Jim Wolf fuel/timing maps and have them copy it on to the converted Nistune ECU, do you know if this can be done? This would cut down on my tuning time when I turn up the boost. Thanks.
  2. Make sure you have the correct clutch and clutch collar combination (the 225mm NA w/ longer collar from the 280z or the 240mm turbo clutch with shorter collar from the T5). Had a similar problem when I tried using the longer clutch collar form the my 280z with the 240mm turbo cluch and pressure plate with my T5 swap.
  3. Blown exhaust gasket and get rid of those chimpian plugs before the Z police take your car.
  4. "Black divots with a "polished" center section and lip" gets my vote or leave original.
  5. I strongly recommend the subi and celica inners, very straight forward and works great with the 280zx pump.
  6. Larry you guy really do some great work, will have stop by and get an estimate.
  7. Had the same exact problem and installed the exhaust manifold heat shield and injector blower fan and that solved my problems. My blower timer is wired to turn the unit on when I shut down regardless of engine temp.
  8. Man it sounds like you've checked all the usual suspects, check and double check all your ground contacts make sure the coil strap and igniter pack is still properly grounded. Sounds like the ecu but the new one did not work. Good luck!
  9. just sitting in my garage and it comes with a fairly new rear seal...let me know if you need pic's.
  10. A coil is not a coil:)...the turbo coil is wounded differently than NA coil...don't know all the technical difference but they are different...both coils will function and run the car without any discernable differences but the coils are different.
  11. Was that a Turbo or NA engine?
  12. Hey man, thanks for the real world feedback, I will be sending out my 88 NA JWT ECU to get it done. I currently have to run a 17 deg base timing to keep from pinging at a max boost pressure of 15 psi. I would love to push that up to 20 deg and trim the timing at the higher boost range and see if I can push it to 20 psi.
  13. Hey Erik, I can send you one for $100 if you arrange shipping, I will package up. Came out of my car when I did the z32 swap, had no probs when removed just your typical T5 notchyness.
  14. Much cheaper to get a zxt wiring harness and do the z31 MAF conversion.
  15. Don't believe the sway bars will lift the rear any. What year z do you have? Could you have mixed up the upper spring perches between the front and the rear?
  16. 10:1 is about right for your set-up, a 2mm shaved p90 head will give you a combustion cahamber of approximately 45cc.
  17. I would expect a little higher compression for a 10:1 CR. I was getting 180 across all six when I shaved my p90a head 2mm with 10cc dish pistons (1mm felpro gasket).
  18. See that you are running NISTUNE, how is your experience so far, I'm seriously thinking about it.
  19. Auto self cleaning is only need if you don't getting up to speed too often (I beleve it's above 40 mph, not certain). If you are running above the speed limit on a daily basis you don't need it, the wire will get hot enough to do the cleaning at highway speeds.
  20. The notch on the ballance that lines up with the zero mark on the fixed timing indicataor when the number one cylinder is at TDC as verified by pulling the plug and double checking the position of the distributor rotor (should be pointing at #1).
  21. Hey Jay, what compression ratio are you running? Is that a turbo or a NA motor?

    Nistune

How about an update on the Nistune system, installation, programming, user friendly??? Seriously thinking about doing the upgrade or going MS...need to be able trim my timing over 15psi to reduce knock.
  23. The 82-83 harness is what you need. If you will running a Nistune set-up you should be able to produce 300hp with the stock rail and a set of SVO injectors @ 18+ psi.
