  1. That's strange? here are some pictures of my 2003 forrester rack and the fittings are at slightly different angles? I did have to modify the driver side motor mount stand on the crossmember quite a bit to get the rack to fit. but the fittings cleared the balancer. If you hadn't already modified it maybe you could return it or at least compare it to an earlier model forester. Edit: Looking at your pictures carefully, I think they are the same racks. try clearenceing the driver motor mount stand first to see if you really do have a problem. Oh one more thing you'll have to clearence the crossmeber quite a bit to get the low pressure return line fitting to clear the X-member, you'll see what I mean in the 2nd picture.
  2. You also have PG Power Brute and Quaife for LSD's.
  3. Where in the heck do you find these pics ?
  4. Wow Dr Hunt, I thought I drove alot, I got 360,000 on my 86 nissan truck!
  5. cygnusx1, I got the same responses from 3 of the shops I took my car to, kinda like this:shifty: and:rolleyesg and:weird: But I just said thanks and kept on looking. It took me 3 weeks to finally find a shop that I felt comfortable with.
  6. That's funny! And it only took me 4 more years for the same amount? Ya I don't post much, my mom told me if you don't have anything nice to say, you know the rest.
  7. Thanks Otherthanme. I get comments about the wheels all the time, I think people like the wheels more than the car? It's kinda funny that the 17 inchers look better than the 16 inch , in my humble opinion. Hey gogriz91, as far as the cost of the paint job, the repair included ALL new suspension, wheels, tires, and frame repair/rebuild and paint. My insurance paid for it all. So I can't say how much just the paint job cost. In hind sight, I should of took the payoff and bought a good used corvette. But I put so much effort into this car I just couldn't let it go to the scrap yard. I can give you this advise, the first time I had the car painted, I took it to "1 day paint&body" .people couln't beleave it, it came out pretty good guys though is cost ALOT more than the $2,200 I paid. But I had to take off All the glass ,crome trim, lights , panels, door handles etc. The more you can remove, the less they have to mask, the better the outcome. plus I washed and degreased it really good before I turned it over to them. Take your car over to several shops and gauge the kind of interest they get from your car. I took my car to 6 shops until I finally found one that the owner couldn't stop talking about a Z that she used to have when she was younger. That's when I knew that they would take care of my car!
  8. I'm with Jon on this, but to answer your question it's pic #2. It's the only way the bearing will fit in the race in the hub! This is just one reason NOT to drink beer and work on your car at the same time! Drink the beer AFTER your done.
  9. Thanks guys, I was just about to give up on this car! I mean it took me 5 years to build it, then when I finished it I only got to drive it for 6 months before I tangled with the 18 wheeler. Hanns, I hope I don't snap my MMS stubby's, if I do then I'm not driving right and I'll talk to Ross about the 31 spline ones he's got in development. As far as the name of the color, it was suppose to be 2004 mercedes silver, but it's got a tindge of blue with larger metalic in it than I wanted. We'll see how it comes out after they cut and polish it out. Heres are the before pictures of the carnage after the simi got through with me! Thanks for the kind words guys, it really mean alot to me!
  10. Well, she's finally painted! it's been 9 months since the accident and I can finally see the light at the end!!!!!!I'm feeling pretty good today!
  11. I just bought " The Drill Doctor" at Lowes and it only cost me $89.00 for the pro model last week. They even had a cheaper version for $49.00 , but I think it's for smaller bits. It saids it even sharpens bullet nose bits.
  12. I didn't know that John's car' sold and LT-1 base kit for the Z. I just looked at his site and couldn't find it?
  13. Hey, happy B-day Bartman. So how old are you?
  14. But I've seen a RB26 in a early ford mustang! does that count?
  15. How about taking it to a body shop that has one of these and use a sliding hmmer to pull the dent out?http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=1609&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C2%2C503%2C504%2C512&KickerID=24&KICKER.
  16. You didn't mention if you welded the spider gears. If not and your doing drag strip launch's with a stock open diff , that's your problem. You got to weld that sucker up.
  17. Alternater gasket? Are you SURE you want to work on your car? It sounds like you never worked on one before? Changing intake and water pump gaskets on a SBC is TOO easy. And the auto shop want's $2500 ? You'll have to get a basic repair manuel for an early model car, like a 70's corvette or camero to learn how to change the gaskets. I don't mean to be offensive, but this is " mechanic's 101" stuff.
  18. First of all, you have to give us the details of your car? What year is car? what motor does it have? Have you done any mods to the motor that may have contribuated to the engine running hot? With the limited info I would say to check to see if the exhaust system is clear? what I mean by that is to check to see if the muffler or cat is corroded or collapsed inside. That would cause both your motor from overheating and the sluggish responce.
  19. Wher in L.A> are you? I made some bracket's for my recaro's from 2 and 1 inch steel stock and the stock seat sliders. Not that hard to do. Just have to keep puling the seats in and out until I got them exactlly where I wanted them=== Maybe I can help you out.
  20. Thanks guys,That was fast. We are using a electric impact gun, I think it max's out at 225 ft/lbs. I guess I'll have to break out my 4 foot 3/4 in pipe and 1/2 breaker bar to get this thing off.The rubber tore away from the damper portion. So it is CCW. Hey 80LT1 ,how do you pull the damper off the crankshaft? I mean the damper doesn't have ant threaded hole to bolt on my puller for my chevy? Is it a special nissan tool? It's center section looks like s 4 spoke casting. Thanks again guys.
  21. Ya I know it's not a Z but at least it's a nissan. The question I have is the pully/damper bolt a lefty on a 99 maxima? We can't seem to budge it. I hope it's not, otherwise we've been tightening it all this time. Thanks guys.
  22. Here's great link to a cv conversion using the 84-89 300zx turbo cv's.http://www.magshooterz.com/z31_cv_conversion.htm.
  23. I don't think chevy made a 302. They made 305 and 307's. When most car junkies mention 302 they usually mean a ford. Strotter is right, the rear ends don't go out that much, it's the half shafts. There was a member here that was offering a modified or new crossmember to install a ford in a z, do a search on " Ford crossmember" you should be able to find the post.
