  1. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/graphequ@pacbell.net/detail?.dir=/e8e5&.dnm=9766scd.jpg&.src=phHere's a link to the flipped bearing that jmortenson is talking about.
  2. So you got the shorter shaft in the driver side? Right?
  3. I just reread the original post you said you got "280zx" stub axles? I think that's your problem. You got to get 76 to 78 "280z" stubs. By ZsRustin
  4. Are you sure you got both driver and passanger side? Where did you get the CV assembly. Did you removed them from the same car, or did you order them from a parts house. I've heard that some member's here actually got the same side axles when they ordered the pair. Did you measure them to make sure one is shorter than the other.http://www.magshooterz.com/z31_cv_conversion.htm
  5. Well I have the Top End Performance Front and rear brace, and I'm still able to use the bisciut tpye of camber plate from DP performance.http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/graphequ@pacbell.net/detail?.dir=/e8e5&.dnm=1edf.jpg&.src=ph.
  6. Here a link that explains it. It's about a BMW M3, but the decription is the same.http://www.e30m3performance.com/myths/travel/travel.htm.
  7. Here's JohnC website. Under "products" you'll see the EMI biscit style camber plates. And they do bolt in with out cutting or drilling .There are some pictures. And yes you could use them front and rear. As you can see they are basicly the same(EMI & DP).http://www.betamotorsports.com/products/index.html.http://www.designproductsracing.com/Portals/b2c21a82-fd03-414c-862f-eae410936be3/DSCF0007.jpg
  8. No problem 280Bob. we're just tryin to help you out.
  9. Sorry I don't have EMI's website but heres DP racing parts.http://www.designproductsracing.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=513. I think JohnC sells EMI products.
  10. I'm going to have to take back some of the advise that I gave previouslly. I think BJhines has got the best solution for you. EMI or DP racing camber plate's would be a great solution. They would lower your car down 2 inches and then you could crank up the coil perch up if it's too low. That and the cutting of the bump stops will help. Obviously the car is lower than stock just from the pictures of the lack of travel left on the stock length struts. Any car with smaller diameter tires will look like a 4x4 at stock hights. Did you tell ross the tire size that you would be using? Did you tell him that you wanted it to be only "slightly lower than stock"? For ANYONE to give advise, you have to give ALL the information you can give them. Now don't get me wrong I'm not siding on your or ross's side. I'm just saying that we don't know what information was exchanged. Just mark this down as a learning experience. Now you know more about suspension than when you started the project.
  11. Yup, I'm with BlueOvalz on this. Although you can gain some travel back from cutting the bumpstops in half. That should give you 1 to 1 1/2 inches back. That will help with the ride quality, but it won't help you on the lowering to help the look of the car. If you want to keep the tires, section the struttubes. If you don't want to redo the suspension, then replace the tire's for taller ones to fill in the gap. On one more thing. do you have the part numbers for the struts. at least that way we can tell if you need to buy new, shorter ones.
  12. I wonder what the cost of a built up motor would cost? Would it be as expensive as a LS7?
  13. Thanks Hanns, I don't know why I didn't think of PMing you for advise:oops: ? LIke I said, it's dangerous for me to think!! I won't be doing this for a while until I feel comfortable enough to do it. That and it'll take me some time to get enough money to purchase all the parts for such a project. I just want to learn as much as possible, so when I DO talk to people about parts I have SOME idea what they are talking about.
  14. All I can add is , put that puppy on a scale and we'll finally know the answer to that long running question. Then the questions will start like " This guy installed a roll cage" and "this guy installed a R230" When will it end. There are SO MANY variables it's almost impossible to ESTIMATE how much our cars will weigh. It weighs what it weighs. Well, I'm off my soap box now,
  15. Thanks guys. Any more? I like to get as much info as possible. Thanks again alf and bernardd
  16. After seeing this articale in comp cams website. http://www.compcams.com/Community/Articles/Details.asp?ID=1941078669I got to thinking, which is bad for me, are there any websites that you guys know that would give me the basics on installing a custom turbo kit on a carbed motor? Or is there a "HOW TO" book that teach the layman how to do this stuff. I never really thought about turbo's before and I have no idea what some of the terms mean. I've always been a normally aspired kind of guy. Grumpy, Scotty, anyone ? Please advise. Thanks guys.
  17. Lookin really really nice Hanns. I can't wait to see it run all out as well, PM me when you go to the track.
  18. Sorry 74Adam, I got no updates. My car is still in the body shop. I had to do the repair of the suspension and the steering while it was there. Hopefully it will be done by the end of the month. :(
  19. quicker240, You mine you hot spot the REAR disc's, right? It's impossable to hotspot the fronts from doing burnouts because they'r not spinning. I just thought I ask.
  20. You know guys , after reading through the mag, I think I just found my new car!
  21. Lookin really good Nazar. I too want to see how the zg flares look with those wheels.
  22. DavyZ, your right, the picture I posted ia a mallet car. I jumped the gun, Sorry Pete. I'll have to go and get a copy of Hot Rod.
  23. Well it all depends, Do you have BOTH drive shafts? All I can say for sure DON"T do it in the middle. And use the larger diamemeter of the two. I had a new drive shaft made with new parts and it cost me $350. I've heard members here getting driveshafts modified for as little as $200. Last thing, how are you going to balance it if you do the welding yourself? I would just take it the driveline shop and have it done. Just my opinion.
  24. Here are two places that you could contact for advise. They'r great guys to talk to .http://www.vildinimotorsport.com/services/services.html. http://www.betamotorsports.com/services/index.html.
