  1. Actually your wires look to be in pretty good shape. At least they look like they can be soldered. All my wires had corrosion and they wouldn't accept the solder. I ended up rewiring the whole car with a Centech wiring kit. Nice pictures for reference's.
  2. Man that motor sits in there so nice.
  3. . Wait until he gets to the spindle pins in the rear. Then we'll see if he'll be havin fun.
  4. It depends on if you have the "Suspension Techiques" rear bar. Then ya they'r NOT going to fit without some modification.
  5. Just for your own piece of mind ,at least you'll know it's right.
  6. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=94933&highlight=tokico+spring+rates. Damn I'm too nice. I just typed in "tokico spring rates" in the search and I got it.
  7. did you change the timing cover or the timing tabs. I seem to remember. there was a difference in the early pre 68, to later dampers. I think grumpyvette posted the differences. I'll have to look in my books to see if I can find that info.
  8. I really don't think you damaged anything. In fact when I installed my 300zxt cv's I had to reverse the outside cage to gain some clearence( shortening the overall length of the cv's). The balls ride inside the recieving cup grooves. Although you may notice that you lose some angle clearence of the shaft to the cup, do to the cage being so far inside the cup. Did that make since?
  9. Yup. But you have to use the 280xzt flandges that bolt to the stub axles as well to make it work. Check out Pete's web page he's got pictures.http://alteredz.com/240ZCVHalfshaftConversion.htm. Here ya go.
  10. That so funny, I had tears :lmao: runnin down my face
  11. It's sad to see this happen:( It looks like you'll be able to sell most of you parts.
  12. They MAY physically work, but if you look at the pictures on this website you can see that the stub portion of the cv's that gets inserted into the diff are of different lengths. You may run into problems with the end seals leaking or the stubs not inserting fully into the spider gear assembly. I would just bite the bullet and get the right part co you know for sure you won't run into problems. http://www.magshooterz.com/z31_cv_conversion.htm.
  13. I also seem to remember that the 240 rack itself is of a smaller diameter than the later 260/280 models. Thats why there are 2 different part numbers for the urethane rack mounts.
  14. THose twins look nice in there, I mean the turbos not your sig picture;-) . Have you been driving it? How about the issue or non issue of the master cylinder's close proximity to the turbo?
  15. That's a capacitor, It's for electrical noise suppression for the radio.
  16. First question is what do you intend to do with the car? 1/4 mile. roadrace. street? I would recommend to do the frame support and body reinforments/rust repair first. Then the susnsion and brakes. Then the drive train. That's MY opinion only. I'm sure other's here have different approach's to the same end. Welcome to hybridz. Enjoy the ride.
  17. A 1jz swap would be cool. Knowing how to hookup the wiring and getting the motor to run is half the battle.
  18. Ther are 3 large multi wire connecter's under the dash where the engine compartment main wiring harness goes threw the fire wall and connects up high to the dash harness, behind the glove box. Also check to see if the main ground connection, located on the passenger side front frame rail , under the battery tray, is not corroded .
  19. The 2 guys off the top of my head are Turbo Miester and Stony. Go to " Photo Album" and do a member search of those 2 guys. Lots of pictures.
  20. Man Bartman your at the easy part now. The hardest part is the hook up of the control panel, but with the good wiring diagrams that vinatge air supplies it's easy.
  21. They sure do fit, BUT you have to use the 280ZX Turbo cv's. The regular ZX cv's are different. And one more thing they only fit the 25 spline 240z stub axles NOT the 280z 27 spline stubs.
  22. Are you trying to install the cv's with the suspension all bolted up/installed? To get the cv's in you have to either unbolt the inner suspension mounts or you unbolt the top of the strut mounts and lower the struts and tilt out. Due to manufacturing tolerences when the car was built, your car maybe slightly narrower, or was in an accident ( most likely) in it's 30 odd years of life.
