  1. 280BOB, Do us a favor. could you post some pics of the suspenion, front and rear, and include the part numbers of the strut inserts that you received? That way we could give you beter advise as a course of action to take.
  2. Here's Ross's site. http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/default.php. He'll have everything you need for the conversion.
  3. Here try this site.http://www.turbobuicks.com/members/scottiegnz/vette-irs-swap.htm. Hope that helps.
  4. quik240z, I understand your frustation, your trying to give back, and it's not going as well as you planned. I think that if anyone of us would like such a part, they should just e-mail or PM quik240z.
  5. I get a piece of rubber from an old bicycle innertube and I put the in a bench vise. But a impact wrench works best. Maybe you could take the struts to a local mecahnic or a tire shop and they could loosen them up for you. I don't think they'll charge you much if anything at all.
  6. Lason< I guess we have to agree to disagree. If it took the guy 2 hours to make each mount, and he did it after hours, It would take him 20 hrs. It would probably take him a week to make them all. I would want to make it worth while for me to spend my family time to do this. Anyway that's just my opinion.
  7. . I have to agree with you on that, I value my time as well and I wouldn't either. And your right, parts are expensive. Most of this stuff is VERY low production or one off items. If you want the billet stuff, you pay. If not you make it yourself. Oh, one more thing quik240z, Thanks for posting the pics and the offer for selling the mounts. Ther are only a couple of guys here willing to do this. I was just posting so your fabricator could see other people ideas on making a better mouse trap. Just because the factory used that crossmenber for a diff mount , doesn't mean we have to:burnout: :
  8. Lunar240z ,The picture isn't my mount. I just downloaded someone else's pic. I don't remember who's, and I don't want to take credit for some one else's work!. Although heres the one that I did make.
  9. Sounds like a keeper to me:mrgreen:
  10. Well, to me it looks plenty strong, BUT having the diff suspended from above has two advantages. 1 when you have to take apart the rear suspension, you don,t have to support the diff with a jack. I made the ron taylor mount for my R200, and it was a saving grace not to have to support that diff when I rebuilt my car. 2 As stated by other's here, the twisting forces excerted on the front of the diff mount would be under compression, not tension, diffenetlly a BIG advantage. That's Just my 02. Here's one example that your fabricator could look over.
  11. I'm with zguy. You got to start leaning it out with a wideband meter to saftely get more power.
  12. Glad to help. The 1 inch wide steel stock is hidden behind the stock rails BTW. I had to trial fit the seat 4 to 5 times to get the holes in the right places. Oh, one more thing, both sides are different offset and I had to cut the inner recliner adjuster off to get them to fit.
  13. I made some "H" adapters from 2 and 1 inch wide 1/8 inch steel stock. Heres a link to the picture..
  14. Ok, Here's a link to that same question asked 2 days ago. There are some good links to site's for you to check out.http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=109160.
  15. Where did you get that flare from? I love it.
  16. It feels great that your almost at the end:mrgreen: Lookin good 73LT1Z.
  17. Here's where my axle broke. The good axle was twisted at the same spot. Tha's why I got Ross's complete setup. It was expensive ,but I now have peace of mind.
  18. . I totally understand, afterall you haven't had a failure in 15 years, but I have, and when I did the axle swap, The good axle showed evidence of pending failure. It was twisted 1/2 spline. I think JohnC said it best when he said that failures seem to follow the type of abuse we put on them. Like twisted axles from drag style lauches and broken flandge welds on road racing with slicks.
  19. To add to the coment that phantom said, I had the 280zxt cv's and decided to change them to the 300zxt because I likeed the design of the 300zxt;s 6 bearing design cv's vs the 280zxt tri-pod setup. Although I never heard of anyone grenating the 280zxt cv's. It's just my own opinion.
  20. Hay Fazzt73, Where have you been? I been trying to contact you?
  21. I guess pictures are worth, well you know. The left side of the axle goes into the diff. The right side bolts to the outside. the companion flandge is the small part at the extreme right.
  22. Here ar ethe sites for both JTR, for the SBC. And Johns Cars, for the Ls1/Ls2/Ls6 family of engine's kits.http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html. http://www.brokenkitty.com/zcar.htm. That should help. Oh. welcome to hybridz.
  23. Any updates guys? I tried e-mailing and PMing him. NO response!
