  1. Is your hatch seal bad? I know thats been one of the leading causes of gas smell in cabin.
  2. 200-250 hp NA. Thatll be more then 3K and very very very hard to achieve. If you get that much youll have a full race motor. With 3K you could probably do a turbo motor?
  3. Id just take the time to clean it out by hand with a vacume. Id never pressure wash the inside of a car. Except like a Jeep which is different.
  4. First off welcome, Id reccomend searching first on what swaps are better for certain power ranges, etc. Are you saying you want a turbo carbed motor?
  5. Try thinking about rake in the form of a motorcycle. If you have more rake the suspension will absorb bumps better and Im guessing youd have the same results on a car. If you had no rake at all the front end would tend to probably just bounce if you hit a bump or put extra stress on the suspension.
  6. Ill be going to Spokane Falls this fall for running start. Itll be nice to have another Z in Spokane. Hopefully Ill have my car finished by the end of summer.
  7. Wow that looks really nice!! a really transparrent/deep look! Ive been working on mine since elementary school and Its finally getting close. Im hoping to swap a turbo motor in for my cumulative project. Whats the plan for the motor?
  8. Thats what Im going for. Im probably gonna end up with it painted Dodge Rams mettallic grey with flat black trim and flat black bumpers. Ive considered Spectra blue but Im not sure if it would look good on a 2+2. I got most my parts today and they look really nice. The chrome trim piece at the top of the door that meets the glass looks like NOS and it looks really nice! Just waiting on quarter window seals and the hatch seal. Just page any of the admin.
  9. Looks good! What is the flange on the head side of the manifold from? It looks to nice to be home made.
  10. Not trying to tell you what to do but are you sure youd need that much stopping power for Im guessing AutoX? Id definetly reconsider what youd like and what you need and then go from there. I can tell you from experience being young and having a car can be expensive and youll make alot of mistakes on how you spend your money. Ive quite a few times asked my dad If I can get some part that I really dont need but at the moment it looks really good. I havent made the mistake too many times but the times I have I look back and say I just spent a couple weeks earnings on a part I dont neccesarily need. Unless your parents give you alot of money, moneys hard to come by as a kid, spend wisely. Sorry for the speach but I wish someone would have told me this in the last year or so. If you really want to get them go for it. Ill be happy you got some nice parts.
  11. Thats pretty close to what I have planned. Ive got the air dam and bumpers and will probably get a bre style spoiler too but Im planning on rewinds. Yeah everyone has coupes, 2+2 are different and still look good. (with modifications)
  12. I meant circle not ring. In the picture there is a circle on the top of the piston. Im not sure what you meant when you said- "I think that ring is there to "squeeze" the combustion into the chamber."
  13. What will you be using this car for? You mentioned the Willwood brakes would you still get those? Or just the suspension?
  14. My friend just bought a powdercoater from Eastwood so I have a feeling well be powdercoating anything I can get my hands on. I have to say the grill looks really good!! At first I was a little sceptical about if it would look good, I thought It might look like a barbq grill, but It looks like something youd buy for the car. Really nice. Now that I see it finished I want to make myself one.
  15. Like he said firewall forward is the same. Rear quarter is longer and the area behind the door is longer. Door is longer also. Yeah I hate that.
  16. What Indents are you talking about? 280's dont have indents in the rear and the front indents on the the headlight bucket fit the the 240/260 bumper fine. I have 240z fiberglass bumpers from MSA and they fill the indents fine on my 280. Like he said there are alot of threads thatll help you make the brackets/fit them etc.
  17. "Ridin' Dirty" Just Kidding! I hate rap. "Cars" by Gary Numan
  18. I did have that much but I bought all the weatherstripping and now I only have $236.86. That means I need $763.14. Hopefully Ill be getting more work during the summer now that I have my license as of today and Im able to drive myself where Im needed.
  19. I had the retainers come off on my motorcycle and we got it running but it ran terrible. The retainers still held the valve but at TDC the cam was pushing on the top of the valve spring cap. What is the second ring on the surface of the piston?
  20. I was actually just thinking about that. Youll have to PM admin. This has really been the only 2+2 thread and 2+2 owners need to post questions where 2+2 owners can help. I just order about 400 dollars in weatherstripping and a 2+2 headliner kit with a few other parts. I figured that if they have it right now I better get it now. The one important part Im missing is the seal above the pillar in front of the quarter window. Lastly would anyone mind taking a picture of the front quarter window to look at the seal and one side of the scuff plates? We took the scuff plates off nearly 4 years ago and I dont remember how they go on and they seem to not fit right. And the seal on my quarter window is shot and Im not even sure what it should look like.
  21. I think hes gonna drive it. Did you do this for the door weatherstripping? Id think that the 2+2 and coupe t top would be the same size? Im guessing any junkyard car will have hard weatherstripping or itll tear when you take it off. Have you called MSA and Black Dragon? Good Luck
  22. If Im correct wasnt the problem with the Z that it had to much lift and not to much drag(front coefficient)? Im guessing all the information gathered from this will be a sticky?
  23. Looks good Id consider painting it silver? Or getting it powdercoated?
  24. Actually I guess the inside piece is metal. Ive got both the inside and outside pieces for both sides but Im not sure how it goes together. The inside piece fits fine but the outside doesnt seem to be big enough. The rocker panels have been replaced so theyre arent any holes that fit with the outer scuffplates holes. We took this part of the car apart about 4 yrs ago and I was only 12 and wasnt paying attention to see how it went together.
  25. Thanks that was quick. Do you think I could use a coupe scuff plate with the 2+2 plastic piece on the inside.
