Import Duties On Ebay Wheels
jthom5147 replied to nicksoccer22's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I mean, it's up to you and your budget. I have no idea about import duties on wheels / in your circumstances. When I bought the carburetor it was through eBay, I remember that I didn't have to pay any but the seller may have. But the seller also shipped them and I'm not sure how they were declared on the forms and that would affect any duties applied. It just seems like a lot of risk for no benefit / no significant benefit. E.g. Rota rkr can be had on eBay for ~$650 obo, with free shipping, already in the USA, choice of color. -
Import Duties On Ebay Wheels
jthom5147 replied to nicksoccer22's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
What's so unique about those wheels if u don't mind me asking? I mean, the style is identical or very similar to many wheels already imported, e.g. Panasports, minilites, rota rb (r/x/etc) konig rewinds. They're comparatively priced to the aforementioned. And they're definitely not real watanbe wheels. -

I bought a set of mikuni carbs from Thailand circa 2006, didn't pay any then -
Considering going LS and wondering what a fair price for my L28et would be: Would be selling essentially stock: Long block Manifolds Turbo Msa downpipe Engine harness, manual trans ECU, afm, etc 5 speed (not T5) Driveshaft Engine currently runs and drives. No known mechanical issues. Also selling with it: Two sets of oil coolers, one factory and one aftermarket N42 intake Fs5w71c trans Pallnet rail with gauge (new) and mk3 injectors (cleaned and tested to spec) Rb flywheel, bushing, and 350z clutch - all new SX throttle body / spacer. Misc extra turbo parts e.g. Extra factory turbo, valve cover, turbo intake, etc.

S13/S14 subframe vs T3
jthom5147 replied to Casper0878's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I should add that on our models, it looks like that a 3"-ish per side narrowing will allow the RLCA to clear the existing Z frame U-channel which you cut out and rebuild. -
S13/S14 subframe vs T3
jthom5147 replied to Casper0878's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
We're looking into significantly narrowing the track to bring the s13 hubs closer to the Z hubs and see where the mounts fall inside the body. the OE subframe would get ditched and replace for a two-piece weld in rear tube frame integrating the mount points. The main lower hoop would be welded in first to reinforce the chassis, cutting out the tool compartments, and then welding the upper hoop. Finish with sheet metal repair and a full cage which will tie the chassis, cage, and new subframe together. -
S13/S14 subframe vs T3
jthom5147 replied to Casper0878's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Attached are some drawings of the s30 undercarriage and 240sx subframe hard points overlaid at 240sx factory ride height and my Z's current ride height with axle position overlapping as reference. My brother did most of the drawings for an iterative project feasibility study I hired him for. You can tell the front RLCA mount is directly in the S30 frame and the upper traction rod is deep within the z tool compartments. -
Rear subframe swap
jthom5147 replied to 2jzTheWorld's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
You'll likely warp the chassis with much less than 600hp. And if it's rusty Swiss cheese, earlier than that. -
I'm selling mine, but looking for a bit more than your stated budget. Pm me if you wanna know more.

This swap has been done a lot by z31 owners and works. The 280z280zx r200 has smaller bolts on the ring gear so steel bushings / sleeves are required if you use a long nose from those cars. Z31 long nose use the same size ring gear bolts as the short-nose. BUT the vlsd units need special shafts, therefore you'd need to figure out custom axles. An OBX will work with stock r200 axles and the required modifications to them are documented on this forum. Vlsd swaps are often overlooked because there are better mechanisms than the viscous link along with the custom axles. There is one user I remember who used the modernmotorsport stub axle flanges paired with Nissan 4x4 front axles and z31 turbo axles to make a short pair of hybrid axles.

Something like: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/119399-240z-camber-adj-rear-coilover-adapters-bolt-on/ http://responsetype.com/shop/nissan/fairlady-z31/s13-coilover-adapters/ Some people have used 240sx spindles up front which uses bolt-in struts: http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1525949-project-steezee-1973-datsun-240z-lq9-v8-build.html Others have done thread-in which might be a step towards bolt-in like you're asking for: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/88589-anyone-interested-in-coilover-conversion-kits/page-2

WRX power steering install
jthom5147 replied to winstonusmc's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
The Subaru racks are all the same length and interchangeable with each other (excluding tie rod threads, input splines, or 2005 housing-crossmember attachment method) Nasioc boards has tons on resources on similar interchangeability. The Subaru racks are all longer than the Z rack. Some resources here: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/46504-lt1-and-subaru-rack/ Www.vikingds.com/zcarguy/power%20steering%20install.pdf Www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/5387-240260-power-steering-options-Subaru-vs-mx5/ -
I've PM'd you

WRX power steering install
jthom5147 replied to winstonusmc's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
The rack ratios are different in forester and Impreza vs wrx vs sti. The 2004 sti rack is the fastest rate but is otherwise externally equivalent to the WRX rack. If I remember right the sti is 2.5 turns lock to lock. The wrx is 2.7, and the forester/Impreza are 3.something. The inner tie rod threads changed from m14 to m16 somewhere around 2000model year, and the splines on the input changed as well from a Subaru proprietary spline to a common pattern. -

Looking for a 5speed from an 81-89 720 / D21 Truck that had an SD series Diesel engine. 2wd or 4wd doesn't matter as I'm after the bellhousing for a project.

Thanks for the correction, didn't think about that. -
New Front Control Arm
jthom5147 replied to Mike Mileski's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
You could salvage those by threading the LCA end of the TC rod to match the threads of the inner tie rod
