  1. Hit it with 80 and drop down to 120 over the 80. Work sections at a time and and dont try to do the whole car with 80 then the whole car again with 120. If your paint is good, you dont wanna take it down to pimer only cause its almost impossible. Just really have to rough up the surface a bit the reprimer.
  2. I dont think i recall seeing anyone on here with molded zgflares onto the car. bolted, yes, mold on, havent seen yet. im starting to think your talking about regular flares because zgs are bolt on flares, i dont see why you would want to get a set of nice bolt on zg flares and mold them in when you can get mold in flares for cheaper. zcarparts now have stick on zg styles that are more easier to mold since it has no bolt holes so you dont have to deal with. tack, fiberglass and bondo.
  3. Damn, i like your garage 240hoke. I say tape up the wall and ceiling with the plastic sheets and makes life so much easier. thats what im doing in the next month.
  4. Ok, i was on my way home from fresno back to plumaslake up north from sac. As i was drivng and half way asleep already, its almost midnight. i notice a small car zooming in real quick with round headlights. As it passes me up, it was a 240z BRE paint scheme lowered with bre rear spoiler and belive it had panasports wheels only being able to tell by the lip and spoke roundness or konig rewinds. the car was moving up pass me so fast, i couldnt believe what i just saw. nice clean paint job half red and half white. pobably doing 90 mph. It was between elkgrove and sacramento. Who ever owns this car, you must be one happy dude. nice car. By the way, if you are reading this, i was in the 93 4runner with the cool HID rx330 projectors flashing over your head. lol. no it wasnt a luxury SUV chasing up on you.
  5. Wow, they waisted that white car on top. Im not a fan either of the pattern design. ill rather put a big transformer on the side imitating fast and furious. You car will look so much cleaner without that IMO.
  6. If you just do it yourself, you can save yourself a set of new rims. Its not too hard if you have garage and handy with fiberflass and bondo. Rivit, fiberglass and bondo. Maybe its just me but i dont recall seing a zg widebody? you mean flares right?
  7. You got it in almost perfect. But fix that curve as it will be a pain in the ass to make it straight later. It doesnt look too straight on the right. You can alway touch it up with metal filler. If you need metal filler, hit me up, im in sac also. We sell em at work.
  8. Sweet. Thats the color ill be trying to pull off this summer doing it myself in the garage. Just a little bit more lighter though. Is that a basic single stage?
  9. Im thinking about using energy suspension/prothane GM tranny mounts for replacement of the original 1jz/2jz mounts. make a crossmember design to fit the gm mounts with the correct angle support for the 1jz/2jz. im just not sure how strong they really are but alot of high hp gm cars run them under high torque and it seems to be doing the job. plus the mounts are cheaper compare to the original toyota mounts.
  10. This might be a stupid question but isnt that going to cause restriction on the first turbo exhaust side?
  11. I tried looking studs up at work and theres not too many options. i found one that has a slightly larger knurl diameter probably by only .3 mm. but only about 6-8 mm longer only. we carry studs and can match up almost any factory car studs. if you drill the knurl hole bigger, that brings you a whole lot more options using other vehicles studs. You cant just go to autozone and buy studs that are longer because the grip mounting hole is not going to fit, if lucky, going to fit real tight or maybe even bore out a little to make it work. i check my stud catolog and like i mention, thers only a couple options but the datsuns have a specific knurl size.
  12. Is it just me or is the inside curve way off forward??? Which means it will be covering the top left side of the tires if lowered?
  13. And also make sure theres no bugs right?
  14. Havent done mine yet but from the way it looks from missing pieces that i chiped off, it looks better than the pics above. lol. j/k. But i have dents here and there.
  15. pics didnt work or me? dont see the rest of the pics?
  16. We carry that stuff at NAPA autoparts. havent tried it yet but looks kinda cheapy but im sure any paint will stick on tough with a a couple of coats and some clear which dupli color also offers ready to spray. just make sure you get a good prep before spray.
  17. I think its illegal to redo a plate here in california. i might be wrong though but i had an idea of redoing it black and yellow. OG ca plates. lol.
  18. Lets all just agree and say too much work and not worth the time to swap a GE.
  19. Im going to try and soak my old ones in navel jelly. its a paint/rust stripper.
  20. I got mine from pick in pull from an 95 sc300. paid 25.00 bucks complete with baffle. Like shaggy said, all i did was tap the oil return on the existing design already made on there.
  21. You mean toyota engine right?
  22. ok, i just found out how to do this. stupid me, dont know why nothing came up earlier. i guess the only easy way out is to cut it carefully around the edges of the windshield and pop it out with plastic shank lifting upwards.
  23. thats a pretty good price. a good local shop is about 20 miles any direction from where i stay. i couldnt find any thread regarding this in the search. everyone has a differnt way of installing but i was looking for tips to make life easier. im going to head out to pick n pull and just thought i might get some tips.
  24. i dont know if this is the right forum, if not, please put it in the correct forum. i was wondering if anyone can please show how to properly remove and install a windshield on a datsun z. im doing stripping my new z down at the moment and removed my windshield yesterday and it cracked. the rubber mold was solid hard and the thing would not budge. i had to cut the outside rubber around the windshield and pry out the windshield inch by inch. at the end, i just crack it and smashed it and rolled it out. i was getting a new one anyways. so to the restore pros, please show how to properly remove and install a winshield on a z. pics would be nice too. and also, how to install the rear glass if possible. thanks.
