sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead of you! good luck getting it all together in such a short time!! that's a great combination of suspension and brake goodies. are you sectioning your struts?
-
they do make noise, but the carters arent as loud as the holley pumps. i dont think you can get them at advance or autozone, but other local parts stores should be able to get them for you. i'm pretty sure napa could order it. jeg's or summit would probably have a better price, though.

i got my car back from paint prison.... temporarily
nullbound replied to nullbound's topic in Body Kits & Paint
yes, that's sadly true... i'm hoping to have the car on the road in less than two months, but i can easily see it taking longer. i know the interior wont be back in completely in that amount of time. my friend glenn is doing the fuel cell installation for me now, as well as the cutting of the hood latch and stock tranny mounts in the tunnel. i have no welder, nor skills to use a welder if i did have one. he's got all the cool air tools, welders, plasma cutters, and the skills to use them properly. it's going to take two to three weeks for that job to be done, as glenn has a lot of other things on his plate besides my car. after that comes the detailing and repainting of the firewall, which i will do. i'll also be changing my front springs and replacing the diff with an r200 3.90. then there's those 280ZX turbo cv's i got yesterday... everything else is ready to go in, it's just a matter of finding the time to do it. and i can only work on it on weekends, assuming i dont get sent out of town for work. i want to get it on the road soon, but i also want to take my time with it and do everything right. you'll know when it's done, though. you'll probably hear me crank it from the other side of the city, hehe -

thanks for the complements everyone. i agree that it's a relatively short period of time to wait and don't intend to sound too shrewd. but at the same time, I was promised faster results. the same painter painted a car i recently sold and it took him 11 months to do that. after the 11 months for that car, it still needed wet-sanding and buffing, as well, but the end product was worth the wait. Want aZ, I live just outside of the perimeter of atlanta, in dunwoody. that's a little less than 30 minutes from Acworth, depending on the traffic. the car is actually going to be (re)assembled about an hour's drive south of where i'm currently living. no garage at the townhome... </sigh> if you're willing to go for the drive, i'm more than willing to show you my car and a few other v-8 z's in various stages. man, rags, i'm sorry to hear about your paint woes. it's such a shame that there are so many shops (paint or otherwise) that do such shady things. two years is outrageous, especially given the outcome. thanks for putting it in perspective. as soon as i get this thing back together, i'll be parking next to mike kZ at a georgia z club meet to see whose car gets more attention: mine, mike's or a bright yellow 300Z with pink neon lights. neon attracts 'em like flies. -

yeah, i love all the bmw colors, especially the silver. i have another '70 240Z to be done after this car is "finished" and was planning to have it painted bmw alpine white. but now, i'm actually thinking of doing the '70 car silver, too, just a little darker like the bmw steel gray metallic. but, OUCH! 7 months? i thought 3.5 months was a lot, but you've definitely got me there. i cant really complain too much, as the painter did a hell of a job on most of the bodywork that needed to be done. it's just that few things that he seemed to rush on that got me a little upset. i tend to look at doing things for others as i would do for myself. it will just have to go back to the painter for a few weeks, though. thanks for the kind words and good luck with your project! full suede? too cool!! i now have to go look at my jeg's and victoria british catalogs and continue with the while-i'm-at-it syndrome. -
i picked up my car on saturday from the paint shop. the color is bmw titanium silver. wet-sanding and buffing hasnt been done yet, but will be done after some other things are done (fuel cell installation, etc). the painter did great work in many areas, but some things still need work/werent done as instructed. the exhaust cut out on the passenger side was really not what i asked for and looks like it was done quickly with tin snips. the painter was really cool about my complaints, though, and has agreed to fix everything i wasnt happy with. so much work left to do....

i like the carter pumps and i have a few friends who have run carters for years that swear by them. very dependable and they dont require a regulator. i bought the silver one listed here for my car: http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=3210&prmenbr=361

where to find this exact stuff for not alot of money
nullbound replied to ToplessZ's topic in Body Kits & Paint
here's a nice how-to on building your own expanded metal grille: http://www.off-road.com/chevy/tech/customgrill/ you could follow a similar method to build your own. according to the article, you can buy expanded metal like what s30z and Glenn used for their grilles at your local sheet metal shop. you should be able to find it in the yellow pages. Glenn does all of his own metal working and has done some amazing things to that truck. he'll be doing my spare tire well surgery and fuel cell installation this weekend -

v8z`s 1/4 1/8 and 60 foot times please
nullbound replied to Hitman47's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
my friend paul ran the following in the 1/8th with his 240Z at the track at eatonton, ga: 60': 1.48 1/8: 6.89 mph: 101 this time was his best with the 377 (on the motor, no nitrous) that's now in my street car. he was using slicks and a welded up 3.90. [edit] tranny is a turbo 350 with a 10" converter (b&m holeshot) -
my z has recently been repainted bmw titanium silver, but no blue flames. yeah, that's paul's car and he does have lots and lots of crazy street racing and 1/8 mile drag racing stories with the blue flame car and another silver z that he has. he knows how to build an engine.

here's a link to the nissan motorsports grille: http://www.nismoparts.com/cart/?id=571&pn=m-62300-n3000 the grille is $114.30. some of the nismo parts have been discontinued (like the center bar for the rear euro bumper). i just ordered two a few weeks ago. email or call Shanna to ensure the grill is still still available/in stock: > Shanna McClarty > Internet Parts Advisor > Bruce Titus Automotive Group > Toll Free Order Line 866-754-5500 > Fax Line 360-357-2594 > shanna@nissanparts.cc

yeah, i have the fiberglass cowl hood that jc whitney sells. it's made by legendary cars. when i bought it, it was $399 plus s&h (~$70). i bought it when i still had the 350 in my car, which certainly helped with ventilation, as well as allowing me to run a taller air cleaner with the scarab/hooker kit. the 350 tended to run a little warmer than i wanted it to (around 210 most of the time). and i did notice a drop in temperature on the order of 5 to 10 degrees on hot days compared to using the stock hood, with no other changes to anything. my 377 runs a lot cooler at an average of 180 to 190 degrees, so i dont have a basline with which to compare for this motor. i do have a new griffin radiator and taurus fan that will be going in once i get the car back from paint prison, so i am curious as to what it will run like with those changes. you can see a pic of mine in my signature, or on my imagestation photo album. also, my friend paul has the same hood on his car:

good info here. i use ultra blue in the same manner as Tim240Z described, using carb cleaner like pete p described and no gaskets on the front or back of the intake. i've never had leaks from rtv on the front or rear of the intake. front timing cover seals are another story... other than that, if you are using aluminum heads, be sure to retorque your intake bolts periodically.

nice work!!

no core required. it's $1284 for just the tranny. i got them to install the right speedo gears for my 3.90 and 255/60-15 tires for $44 extra. right now they have a special, $100 off shipping. it was $181 for shipping to atlanta (before the discount) and i paid $50 extra for home delivery. it comes with a one year warranty that starts one year after you prove to them that you installed it to their specifications. it comes with a nice instruction manual. very cool guys to deal with! the website is very informative, as well, with all the info/wiring kits/tv cable kit/etc. you need for the installation.

the info listed here is for a 700-r4, but it will give you an idea of parts needed/recommended. this one is rated to handle up to 600hp: http://www.700r4.com/getpart.asp?cat=Transmissions&id=457 i just bought the level 3 200-4r. it lists the same info for it's buildup. they carry a level 2, rated to 450 hp: http://www.700r4.com/getpart.asp?cat=Transmissions&id=456

that car was featured in sport z magazine a few years ago. very nice!

15 in wheel offset?????
nullbound replied to stony's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i use 4.5" backspacing with no coilovers. -
granted you asked for info on AFR... i had the standard hooker block hugger headers on my 350. when changing to the 377 with angle-plug canfields, the hookers had no way of clearing the spark plugs. i could not even start the end bolts, as the spark plugs interfered with the outer tubes. i had to go from this style header: to this style from zigs street rods: the center primaries dumping on the block side of the collector made the difference for the canfields. i am assuming it would be about the same for afr's.

Canfield 195 or AFR 195 SBC heads?
nullbound replied to pparaska's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
well, the difference in price is about $150 cheaper for the set through jeg's, compared to buying an assembled set straight from canfield. a simple phone call to jegs would answer the question as to if they are assembled by canfield or not. looking at the 220 cc heads, the price is about the same as the price through canfield. asssuming they would probably sell more of the 197's than the 220's, maybe they have a good bulk buy deal with canfield on the 197's (also noting that canfields are listed as 195's). -
Just noticed this on twinturbo.net
nullbound replied to 280Zone's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
i like the color and the kaminari spoiler. i agree with the posts there about needing a mesh grille. looks like he's not planning on a front bumper since he's filled in those areas on the fenders. looks nice!
