external wastegate...oem manifold.
Sparky replied to DarrellBuddy321's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Ditto, I had to turn my wastegate flange 90 degrees to clear the TC rod, I didnt preheat or slow down its cooling. I've had it on and off the car several times and have yet to see any cracks. one way to help prevent cracks if you do weld on the cast manifold would be to add some simple supports for the turbo, wouldnt take that much longer to do and its cheap way to prolong the life of your welds. -
Somanabatch! what a fargin icehole! thats got to be him... 0 feedback account that was created in june 02.

Im wondering if he gives the same address out for all the auctions. Its doubtful, but one way to test this would be to let somebody bid on and win one of the engines while you bid on and win the other one. once he sends the address to send the checks, cross check them and take it from there. there is bound to be a member in the state this person (or persons i'm finding much more likely at this point considering that he seems to not remember your name) or you could even try to send all this info to somebody thats involved in law enforcement in the area. you could also try and contact the local P.O. or FBI agency about mail fraud. would be nice to meet the receiver of the check, but probably a bad idea if my theory on multiple persons is correct.

Joel, Im guessing that this person is hacking accounts that are no longer used, or have not been used in some time, he then list auctions for similar high priced items bidding on them with other accounts he has hacked (all the other accounts have also suddenly become active.) doesnt it seem odd that so many of his accounts are johnXXXXX or JXXXXXX? do you think its possible that this person works for ebay and has access to a list of inactive accounts? it also appears that some recent auctions that he has "won" are no longer in the ebay database...that also seems odd to me. I guess this should serve as a warning to others, low feedback, or recently reactivated accounts should probably be avoided, even if there is recent + feedback...its all part of the same scam. such BS that people like this exist, we should start are own country (I nominate Texas) where people like that are hanged and quartered.

Anyone used any interstate car shipping services in the US?
Sparky replied to a topic in Non Tech Board
I had a car shipped from San Jose to Texas 8 years ago for around 650$. took them a few weeks and it was covered in trash and dirt. -

L-motor turbo header using Burns collectors and material
Sparky replied to mrcheeze36's topic in Fabrication / Welding
ahhh, that car again. little bits and pieces of info keep popping up on that car here and there but nobody seems to know who owns it or have any real details on it. and to my knowledge nobody in the online Z car community has claimed it as their own. there is certainly alot of work in the header, hope they add lots of support to it. does seem like an odd way to do things though... edit once again...seriously hope they are planning a shiat load of heatshielding as well -

I'm sorry to hear of your recent string of bad luck....yes it sucks, but like any intelligent or resilient people you will both get over it quickly and be stronger people because of it. I've never really Done a move that large before by myself. now as a teenager with my parents, and more recently helping girlfriends....(now Ex girlfriends lol!) move...I've got a few views on long distance moves. the last friend I helped moved from Texas to Monterey, Cali. she had some decent sized furniture in her one bedroom and one car. what she did was rented a U-HAUL with a flatbed car trailer...total cost was around 1800-2200$...now this was four years ago so things might have gone up a bit in price. so if one of your drives a car, and the other drives the truck with car in tow, you might be looking at upwards of 3k. but in all honestly I've never done it myself, and all this info is from memory so I could be way way off. if it was me in your shoes. I would look at starting all over again...sell as much stuff as you can, keep only what you can pack in two cars..maybe buy a roof rack or two so you can pack some larger "must keep" items on top...and get the hell out. probably not the most fun trip, but an adventure non the less. think of the stories you will be able to tell, and the things you will be able to see. also one thing to think about is im sure there are more than a few members on this board that would be willing to hook ya'll up with free room and board. I know I am...my apts. small but if yall want a place to crash for a night or two your more than welcome in San Antonio....just give me fair notice so I can kill all the roaches!!! -
cool! so does that mean your going to cut me a heck of a deal on those panasports since i like your car so much?

Will it be easier to get a new universal harness?
Sparky replied to pjo046's topic in Ignition and Electrical
personally, now that I've done the swap...I would just install a new harness. its nice to be able to route everything just where you want, and your using all new components.... although I know how you feel... its one more expense, yet another while "im at it" task, and more down time. its especially hard to justify if you have a perfectly good stock harness... but trust me... its totally worth it. http://www.ezwiring.com -

lol, that was my favorite one...

my thoughts exactly. While i like the cowl hoods, I think a nice stock design in CF would look great on your car.

Dealers License in Texas... From anywhere in Texas, contact the Texas Department of Transportation or go to their Web site. If you plan on doing any financing or arranging financing you also need a license from the Office of the Consumer Credit Commissioner. For a retail used car dealer, you must pay a $500 fee plus $45.30 per metal dealer plate desired (most small dealers only need a couple of these), obtain a $25,000 surety bond or have an irrevocable bank letter of credit for $25,000, and you must own or lease property with an office (seperate from and with no access to any residential living quarters on the property), at least 5 paved parking spaces, and a sign with six-inch letters. You must also have a working land line phone installed in the office, have a desk and at least two chairs, and there are other provisions to get your license application approved. For a wholesale license, you must have an office, but need not have specific parking spaces for the sale of vehicles on-site. But with that license you can only sell to other wholesalers or dealers. I think it may also be permissible to sell to out-of-state retail buyers, other states do this, but you may wish to check with DPS before trying that.

Absolutely gorgeous! inspirational even! thanks for posting the link...I'm feeling very motivated to get to work on my Z....

Seems mine was about my old Honda N600, complete with a still working photo of me and the little beast. too bad I had to sell her shortly after that. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=77784&page=2&highlight=sparky on another note, I was going through some old posts of mine when I was just starting out with my turbo conversion and came across multiple posts signed by -980mak, what ever happened to him? just a user name change or lifestyle change. He was so incredibly helpful at that early stage, and don't think I ever thanked him as much as I should have. so if your out there...thanks again and again.

Oh I know, my response was somewhat hastily written as I was on my way out the door. With the V8 its going to get tricky getting some cables in there. I feel that with the way i mounted mine you could fit a set of cables under the seat with no problem...certainly wont be as easy or convenient as having the battery sitting out in the engine compartment though. you could always mount some remote jumper terminals on the firewall, or inner fender were the batter normally is...http://www.stefs.com/bandb/products/productpages/jumperterminals.htm I've never used them before but always kept them in mind.. Well I cant really comment on that as mine is still a work in progress. I'm not expecting any issues and I know there are several members here and elsewhere in the automotive community that have used them successfully on their daily drivers. as far as using it in the tool box.... my original plan was to fit it in there but its just slightly too big to fit in there without cutting or modifying the tool box. on this car I'm really trying to cut and modify the shell as little as possible, besides that I figure that for longer road trips and what not it would be nice to have a place to put some spares and tools.

well, I can do one of three things... 1. the seat isnt in the way as far as i can tell. If you move the seat all the way back on its tracks there is plenty of room to fit some cables on there. 2. Remote terminals somewhere in the engine compartment. problem with that is thats alot of work when I could just do number 3. 3. negative to the engine block or good ground, positive of the jumper cable on the + terminal on the starter. I've never jumped a car like that...but the cables all come from the same place (battery) I figure thats just like have jumper cable extensions.

search on the members list for the oldest member and then search under the profile for "all posts by" then scroll to the end of the pages.... ? maybe that would work ?
