  1. yes, I was just about to write something similar. i like it when shops have a unique style or signature style. I personally love so many different kinds of automotive tastes, I would like to see a shop that can successfully mix multiple styles to the point of being universally enjoyed by the majority of car people. maybe something like flat black paint (but well done) satin finished aluminum or stainless...something very clean that wont be confined to a particular trend or time period. Ive always thought that a company like excile cycles had an extremely appealing style and I would like to see something like that in the automotive world but with euro/japenese Machinery. Ive always loved custom rods, clean hotrods, vintage german sedans, british roadsters, and anything japanese...especially something that had modern drivetrain/suspension/ammenities tastefully and thoughtfully integrated into classic styling. triple sidedraft RB30DE? might not be the fastest, but man that would be sexy.
  2. I would LOVE to build a killer high HP sleeper 510 wagon. GN engine, slightly lowered, stock paint, near stock interior, small average wheels, stock looking on the outside and in the interior but a beast from light to light or on the highway. Ahh to have lots of money and time.
  3. im normally not a big fan of the show...but since im sick as a dog and im stuck in front of the TV and computer all day I just got hooked in. Anywho, just an observation but that guy in the white camaro is a total freak "if one of those guys touched my car im gonna cut somebody!" ummm....
  4. now THAT looks like a lot of dangerous FUN!
  5. definitely suspension first, IMO. its nice to be able to drive the car around and get a instant feel for the changes you've just made without having to wait a year or two while the car is de-motivated. obviously the easiest swap would be the L28ET, plenty of people have done it so there is a vast amount of information available to you, dont forget that it will be easier on your wallet too, allowing you to enjoy the car sooner than later. I would probably shorten the strut housings and install coilovers with your new adjustable struts (take the time to blast and coat the suspension parts while your at it, it wont take that much longer and will make the car more appealing visually and physically when it comes time to work on it. install some sway bars( dont forget to reinforce the front sway bar mounts. install an LSD with some kind of CV axle swap and then move onto a brake upgrade as the last phase of suspension work... this is my opinion, take it how you will... also, if your still undecided about the engine you want, buy a few raffle tickets for the pinks Zs engine...if you win youll have a multitude of less things to worry about.
  6. details and evidence of forethought. there is nothing more disappointing than a "shop" car that is littered with poor planning. when I tear a car apart Im looking for poorly routed wires, overzealous use of AN fittings and hose, cheap auto-parts stores accessories, and common catalog parts.

Sounds really cool and I Cannot wait to see the pictures. If your interested, I've got a S13 VLSD with stubs I would be willing to get rid off for the right price
  8. cool, Sounds like its going to be a good deal for someone. I'm surprised i llike it so much but that stance is mean, I could do without the kitten approved interior though...the giant hood-scoop could go as well.
  9. In the night shot you can the spacer on the front wheel, looks to be a bad mama jama. I think you could just buy four 18 or 17 x9 inch wheels and stretch the tires like he did on the rear and you might not even need to run a spacer. I did some very casual measurements on the rear of my Z for the 17x9 version of that wheel and found that I would need to run a spacer to get them to fit.
  10. best of luck to you Mat, hope it all works out just the way you want it to.
  11. good job on finding the Vid, I was hoping to catch it. and wow....that was really cool.
  12. I would also be interested in the L28 setup, and possibly one for a B234 Volvo engine. looks good, nice work.
  13. if i remember correctly there was a thread on that car many years ago, as I recall it, the car has the completely AWD drivetrain from a GTR....the fact that its on a four wheel dyno is also a clue.
  14. cut it into 12 equal size pieces and sell it for scrap....prices for scrap steel have gone up lately so you might make a few bucks on the deal.
  15. I've never had a more reliable car than my 72 240Z when it was running NA. Even for the 2.4 liter it was plenty balsy for a daily driver. throw in a 2.8 with a nice set of rebuilt SUs and an electronic ZX distributer and your all set for miles of trouble free service. the only problem is that if you start with a 1,500.00$ Z car your not starting off with the best base for a rebuild. when you start to add up struts, springs, swaybars and all that stuff your out a considerable amount. Now lets talk about comfort items like new door and window seals and your out another good chunk of change. the above really are things that need to be done right off the bat....after all who wants to drive a mushy Z or smell like exhaust on a hot date? I was lucky enough that when I bought my 240Z it had all of the above already done to it...it didnt look like much but it handled well and only left me smelling a wee bit exhausty. (lucky for me I was dating crazy psycho girls at the time and they seemed to all love that smell *shrugs*) anywho....I think these cars can be some of the most reliable and cheapest to maintain cars on the planet, but they are getting old, start with the best base you can afford and you will be better off.
  16. thats really looking good, you should be very happy with your work and progress. ps, thanks for the link!
  17. cool headlights! I would love to see a write up on where you bought them and how you install them.
  18. sounds cool, too bad my Z is still under construction. you might want to contact the prez of http://Z-sport.com he can send out a mass mailer to local Z peeps....try the Austin club as well.
  19. Im getting around 26 in my DD 1990 Accord, I live downtown so i fill up maybe once every two weeks. Its tough to swallow even at 2.79 just once every two weeks, cant imagine filling up a big truck twice a week like some people do. even though I dont pay that much, its still too much for a unemployed student...next week im going to start looking at buying a scooter or 250 moto. one thing though is that we've had it good for so long in this country when it comes to gas prices....I just got back from Spain and let me tell you they get reamed.... 2.30Euros per Liter!!!!! just so you know, 1 gallon=3.7854118 liters. ouch.
  20. I would like one medium shirt if you have any left or are going to make a another run of them. I will paypal later tonight! Sweet shirt BTW!!!!
