  1. Hey Violacleff! you and I are in similar situations with one distinct difference...your car is running! What I plan on doing is setting up two different maps in the haltech with two different boost levels. the E6X can control boost with the addition of a 80$ boost control solenoid...heck of alot cheaper than the Eboost. check out page 59 of the E6X manual, its a basic explanation of dual maps, all you need to do is ground out the green "Aux.in" wire through a toggle switch. although I would like to just take it somewhere to be tuned, im going to go ahead and purchase a laptop and WB setup so that I can really learn how to do this, plus when and if i make any changes to the engine I can tune it myself instead of having to schedule an appointment with someone. its a bit overwhelming to me seeing as how this will be my first standalone system and tuning experience but its not rocket-science...just time consuming. you need to get a laptop and send me your map so i can start mine up
  2. I have a 40GB 3rd gen and have had 0 problems with it...multiple drops, partial submersion, 160+ degrees...it takes it all. I do have a bit of a problem with the battery life, but apparently they have fixed that with the newest generations. Im probably going to splurge and pick up new one this summer, but damn I am so afraid of breaking it or scratching it...its a really nice bit of engineering but it just looks so fragile compared to mine.
  3. ....or the time I was backing my car down a new driveway with the doors open....completely forgot about the large 2x4s staked in the ground...
  4. agreed, its going to happen, but some mistakes are more expensive than others I could tell the story about how I got knocked on my arse after getting the ever loving crap shocked out of me when I palmed my dizzy trying to change the timing. I completely ignored the large gash in the spark plug boot.....duh.
  5. wow, who knew rust repair could be so entertaining. nice vids, good luck with your project!, I definitely look forward to seeing more pictures and videos.
  6. oh thats not bad...I like some of the styles they offer but was afraid to call them up for fear of having heart attack over the prices.....but thats perfectly reasonable.
  7. what about some Work Vx's...I dont know how much they are but if i was saving for some killer wheels and it was a tad bit more for some work wheels I would go that route....lots of US Z cars have CCWs....not that there is anything wrong with that....
  8. just mention that your a member of ZCCA or your local chapter Z club and they should take off 10%
  9. have you checked the pickup tube in the tank? what might be happening is when the fuel pump turns on it sucks something up into the pickup tube and you lose pressure.....as soon as you shut it off and disconnect everything you release suction and the debris falls back into the tank? try a burst of compressed air into the pickup and try again....you might also want to drain the tank and have a look-see inside.
  10. my thoughts exactly. wow, it looks really clean on top of that...
  11. hey congratulations dad! thats great news!
  12. Grrrrr Vince you just had to post those pictures didnt you! crap! that car is sooo sick, still in my top 5 fav S30s well, would love to post pictures of my car but its not time yet...hope to unveil it early spring...maybe even early january..... but I will post some pictures of my old 240Z....now at a new home far away..sniff sniff... I know I know, shouldnt post pictures of a car thats no longer mine....especially so many of them.....sorry guys...to make up for it here is a some bit of my 240ZT:
  13. ah thanks, I think I found the new add. although isn't it against ebay policy to re-list something thats technically been won in another auction. if you don't set a reserve, under ebays rules your SOL because a winning bid is a contract.... but I know I know, thats not realistic....ebay can't and won't do anything to help the buyer out...ask me how I know! anywho, how is the Z coming?! seems I haven't heard much about it lately...
  14. the winning bidder might not payup, you might just get a second chance offer.
  15. does the microtech only have 1 ignition driver? on the Haltech if you want to run coil packs you can run one ignitor per driver and then that can control a double coil firing on a certain sequence 2,2,2 along with the corresponding cylinders. im still reading the manual.
  16. oh thanks! its all starting to make a little more sense to me now...looks like I will start off with just a single coil and ignitor and spend the MSD money on something else. someday though I would like to go with a wasted spark setup...in due time! thanks for the info.
  17. yup, thats the exact reason why I don't order the EL gauges...
  18. I've got to hand it to you Austin, you brought that car back from the dead. I would have scrapped it. amazing amount of work in a short period of time, hope to see it one day!
  19. we all must meet our end some day, some of us before our time. He was a fantastic Rally driver and I really enjoyed watching his amazing performances. at least he is at piece now and no longer battling his illness...
  20. thanks for the reply, I was under the impression though that I needed to run an MSD because the turbo Dizzy doesn't have an ignitor. Im going to run a single coil and keep the dizzy operable, at this stage I don't want to run wasted spark....yet. Im still reading the massive manual, am I mistaken? everyone I know that runs a haltech has a MSD controlling the ignition. ...still reading...
