  1. wow! if I had the cash I would not even hesitate to pick that up. Brian are you out there? will you take payments?
  2. I like this one a little more: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
  3. thats an Opel with a Volvo engine.
  4. wish my P1800 had an engine bay that big. maybe then I could find a motor that fits and has some get-up-n-go....
  5. If I may offer some constructive criticism here...having anything protrude from the bottom of the car is dangerous, especially something that has a square or flat edge. The steel plate may offer you some protection but if you run over something and it catches squarely on those plate you are going to have a bad day. You could mount 1/2 plate of the strongest material in the world to the floor...but its still mounted to thin sheet metal. the steel plate might just increase the chances of the seat being ripped out of the floor...at least with a small bolt you have less surface area for something to catch on. Sure the chances are slim, but there is still a chance. One way to lessen the potential damage would be to grind the forward facing edge down into a wedge shape, this will greatly reduce the chance of them catching on something, of course in the event of a spin, any edge my be forward facing so its probably best to grind or mill all the edges down into a trapezoidal shape. jmortensen has the right idea, I did something similar on my ex 73 but used 3/4 square tubing stitch welded to the floor and trans tunnel. this gave me much more headroom and a lower CG.
  6. the passenger side seat is. I was thinking about going back and asking about them.
  7. PS! check out this link for some in car track and street videos in an Elise. there is also some stuff from his old 190. as usual please please please right click and "save as" http://dpcars.aprsworld.com/home/video.htm EDIT: check out this video. his second track day in the Elise. boy that thing turns around quick: again right click and "save as" http://dpcars.aprsworld.com/oops3.mpg
  8. somebody mentioned buying it and rebuilding it... HA! the pictures do not do the damage justice (stupid camera phone) this car is trash. the majority of the body panels have separated and the chassis has a nice curve in it from the impact. to echo some comments posted above.. The Elise is a very capable car with a good and SMOOTH driver. the Elise will make you look like a hero or a zero...more of the latter with a driver of limited skill or brains. unfortunately this is a case of more money than brains. I personally dont know the driver, but from listening in on a few conversations amongst the people gathered around the car this person has a habit of buying expensive things and destroying them...nobody there had anything positive to say about the guy..and i'm sugar coating it a bit It would still be a car I would love to have and hopefully one day will have in my collection...although part of me feels that if i'm going to get something as impractical on the street as an Elise that I might as well get a westfield megabusa or similar 7 style car.
  9. I would like to pick one of those up myself...but for some reason I cannot find a reasonably priced on in decent condition. I would like to have one as my daily driver..... trade out my current DD accord.....
  10. While wandering around last week looking at cars I ran across this Elise in the dealers back lot. The driver survived but is suffering from a multitude of serious injuries. one of the mechanics there told me that the driver was driving rather hard and lifted off the throttle mid turn resulting in some rather nasty oversteer that in turn resulted in a rather unfortunate incident with a tree. funny how solid TREES are....who knew.
  11. hey everyone! was wondering if anybody out there could run a car fax for me? 2000 BMW M roadster WBSCK9341YLC93679 thanks in advance everyone and have a happy stress free holiday season
  12. Want? as in you giving it too me? then sure I'll take it!
  13. I circled the areas that i'm talking about. you might be able to extend the flares an inch or two but then you will have a different pattern in the weave and your risk damaging them to the point of having to paint them to look right again.
  14. I will second or third the comment about the heat shield, its a must. also, why not cut two holes in the fire wall that lead into stock cowl panel? there is plenty of room in there for two small filters and that would keep it looking as stock as possible. only problem with that though would driving it in the rain....don't know how often you plan on driving that beast in the rain though
  15. probably not...it looks like they terminate at the bumper/valance near the wheel well....would be nice though..... geez I really want a S13
  16. well hello Mr. Grinch, as a matter of fact I did tell my boss but thanks for ASSuming I didn't. it was around the end of the season and it only had one more race before a complete tear down. the car performed flawlessly and had no visible damage and the tolerances checked out. and to think that story got your panties all ruffled...I was one of the good mechanics! I could tell you stories from some of the other guys that worked there but I wouldn't want you to have an aneurism. :
  17. haha, ok I guess one more wont hurt. few years ago I worked at a local shop that specialized in restoration and race preparation of some very high end vintage cars. well one day I was working on a very nice porsche 356R, the engine alone cost the owner upwards of 20K, I was fixing a cracked oil cooler adapter. well, I got the part back from the welding shop, put all the fittings back on, changed the oil and fired it up...sounded incredible but had 0 oil pressure and this HUGE red light on the dashboard was screaming at me! so I give it a few revs thinking it will build pressure in a second but it never did...so i shut her down and contort myself out of the cage and my jaw drops.......10 qrts of oil sprayed all over the engine compartment, the floor, my tool chest, and the wall....apparently I had forgotten one fitting on the outlet of the oil cooler and for some reason that makes a huge difference in how the car runs lol..ooops. I cleaned up my mess, filled her back up and went home for the day.
  18. from what I've heard from friends of mine there is a SR20DET in a model A somewhere in the state of texas....how cool is that?! high tech with vintage design!
  19. its all of the above from what I have seen... I have the entire series on DVD the early episodes show a 240Z while the others show a 260/280 with the JDM bumpers...even then its not the best showing of film continuity as both styles can appear in the same volume.
  20. well whadaya know, it was easier to find the thread that I got them from (thanks again Alan!) http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8724
  21. Mike, I have measurements and pictures but you will have to give me a few hours to dig them up.
  22. Im working on my 21 circuit EZ wiring setup right now, hopefully it will be done in a few days and I can comment on its quality and ease of install. thus far I've had a few issues with it but they were all simple fixes...at around half the cost of the painless kit I can handle a few minor problems. I am using this thread along with the EZ wiring and stock wiring diagram and making my own notes for those that wish to go with the EZ setup... back to work!
  23. here she is: http://haltech.com/boost_ctrl_soln.htm there are several companies that offer something similar... 200$ an hour at 3 hours?!!!! crap thats good chunk of change..but if the person knows what he/she is doing than maybe its worth it...as was mentioned earlier...once its tuned it tuned...unless you upgrade or change parts.
