  1. Thanks for the clarification, I don't know what made me think that '75 model year was a 260Z, at one point in time I had a 75 280Z...Sorry for the brain fart...at least I got the year right. Although I was under the impression that only the 75 tank would work and not the 76-78, again, thanks for the correction! ...back to work.
  2. the only tank that will bolt into the 240Z is from the Fuel injected 260Z...1975 to be exact....and good luck finding one in decent shape. You have several options, all of which are perfeclty viable: 1. run the stock 240Z tank using the drain as your new pickup, run new 3/8s alum fuel line (cheap) and use the stock feed line as your new return. 2. run the stock 240Z tank using the drain as your new feed, run a LP pump feeding a surge tank and then your walbro to feed from the surge tank using 3/8 alum line, running the stock feed as the new return into the surge tank (as is typically done) 3. tank your 240Z tank off and have it hot tanked, contact summit, Jegs, or Brad from this board and buy a sump. properly install it and run your feeds from it using one of the two options above. I started my turbo project with the sump and never had any fuel problems (in the short time I drove it) now that shes getting rebuilt again I will use option 3 and option 2...only I will be running two LP pumps feeding into the surge tank then onto a paxton Kamikazi 750HP pump 3/8 (-6) feed. easy as pie.
  3. looks like I might just get mine together first... ...need to install 60mm TB, finish radiator install, install surge tank and additional fuel pumps, mount new tires (today), wire in gauges, and get her inspected. sunday afternoon will be the first drive!
  4. well, why not cut the shifter off at the base, weld on some threaded tubing and the thread the shifter base, then you could simply unscrew the shifter and easily slide it up and out of the boot. the offset shifter might be tricky to maneuver at first, but once you get the hang of it, it should be a snap. all and all its an idea...and every little bit you can do will help prevent theft, although if somebody wants your car, they will take it no matter what.
  5. cool! thanks for taking this project on, let me know when your ready for payment...
  6. I will take all 10 as well! nice, I wanted to get in on this the first go around on VHS but missed out or just plain forgot....now I have a chance again and will not miss it! sweet!
  7. Mike, I finally snapped some pictures of my seat bracket, this is very similar to the bracket that Sparco sells (or used to sell) to adapt the seat to the Gen1 Z cars. You could do the same thing with flat steel, and if you were worried about strength, you could build it out of rectangular tubing. I find though that this is perfectly adequate...thus far! as the description in the photos state though, I would reconsider the Nylon spacers and go with alum or steel. linky poo: http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3656 http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3655&size=medium&cat=500
  8. there are also several companies that specialize in rebuilding classic/vintage seatbelts. its cost prohibitive though, might as well buy four points all around. some upholstery shops will also re-web belts but again, its not cheap..
  9. well, you can hardly go wrong with a first gen Z car. the body is very clean and well proportioned so certain colours wont make the car look funny from certain angles. Bright metallic colours do really well, greens, oranges , silvers, charcoals etc. non-metallics are nice but tend to suit a more vintage styled car. with 17s, a more modern metallic colour will match the car better than a non metallic. The exception to this though is black, (think Aux's car) a nice deep black paint job can go well with any style early zcar and tie multiple different styles together on one car. its really all depends of course. But! as was mentioned earlier, this is opinion and will differ from person to person....there are still people that paint their cars hot pink! different colours also relay different moods or feelings to onlookers..what do you want your car to tell others? about you, or your vehicle?
  10. from the participant list I can only spot two Chaparral cars, both "chaparral 1" 1961/1962 running in group 3B, Doesnt really tell you what people will bring just to show, or what's going to be in the main hall. Wish I could go this year or next year, or the year after that...its depressing really...it will be some time before I get to go again...
  11. well that stinks, sorry to hear you have to sell it...although I am also interested in the car and will be watching your auction..I'm curious about your reserve..would you be willing to PM it to me?
  12. lol, thats a good one!
  13. and here I thought they were the cats miaow. shows how much I know.
  14. I'll trade you something for them... hardy har harrrrrrrrrr
  15. those things are ridiculous, once saw a guy lay one down on his leg on a exit ramp in heavy traffic!
  16. Mike, You have the Sparco Sprint right? bracket is super easy and should only take you ten minutes to make, I can send you a picture of my setup if you need it.
  17. that is a nice looking wheel, better than I thought actually, BUT...the colour! I wouldnt dare put a bronze wheel on a bright orange car.. o-well, I really need to do the five lug conversion anyway and stop buying wheels.
  18. wreck is real, there are more pictures floating around of the road and skid marks leading up the the vehicle catching air. Speedo is in KPH, to the best of my knowledge they never produced that year A3 with a MPH calibrated speedo? I could verywell be wrong on that. Oh, and keep in mind that in germany cars are LHD...
  19. Hey Mike, I run this filter http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=fuel+filter&x=0&y=0&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp before my main pump (paxton kamikazi 750) and a 300ZXTT fuel filter before the pressure regulator. I also run the return off the regulator to clean things up a bit. 25FT should be enough to do the feed and return on one Z with a little left over..I also used the 3/8 alum tube as my feed line but will be redoing it as I install my Surge tank and new LP fuel pumps. I will also be changing the 300ZXT FF to a CM filter http://www.cmfilters.com/fuel.cfm# I'm hoping to start the Surge tank install next week sometime after I sell my 16" Wheels and tires.
  20. that really sucks Austin, but that the same time your very lucky that the shop is taking responsibility and have stated that they will replace them. looks like you've got a set of new tires and wheels....your just going to have to wait to get them. One thing that stands out is what other cars have this bolt pattern & offset? not very many, and seeing an early RX7 or mustang with panasports will stand out as being...well...not quite right. they might be able to recover them after all.
  21. I'm becoming more interested in this, looking forward to seeing the pictures! I'm going to assume that these are only available in the one finish? (silver?) Would LOVE to have polish lip with black/gunmetal center...that would make all the difference in the world to me.

I think im about to cry, wow. along the lines of who in AK owns a ferrari, whats the deal with the little scooter on the left? still has the price tag on it. also, notice the mini bike to the left of that? guess the owner is moving up the world.
  23. Matt, One of my dreams cars as well..I used to go to the lotus dealership and just stare at those things all night long..the fastest four cylinder production car? if i remember correctly. Its a tough choice that I would have a hard time making. you've been working on that Z for so long though and are so close! I also think that you know just how important it is to start with the cleanest car possible when doing a restoration or rebuild. The Lotus is not the easiest or cheapest thing to get parts for! seriously, go to the lotus message boards an look at what those people are dealing with, surgical lines for fuel vapor vents? thats nuts. and resale on a hybrid wont be very good. finish the Z, there are always going to be good deals out there...always! besides, you might find once you finish the Z that all your lotus desires will subside for a short time. finish the Z, isnt it also a dream car?
  24. wow, thats crazy! I consider myself lucky that I've never been caught in a giant spider web...in reality, or my dreams. do you put any merit in analyzing dreams? sometimes I feel that my dreams are really telling my something..although people tend to manipluate things to mean whatever they want them to mean, subconsciously or consciously. wonder what it could mean? sucks about the pictures though :8
