Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels
COmputoman replied to k3werra's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I think he is talking about devil Z flippin' "the bird" in his picture. -
From what I can tell, seafoam is a Strong solvent/lubricant that is also combustible for use with internal engine parts. If anything it should make your turbo spin better. Ben P.s. I just foamed my 260 the other day and received the best fuel consumption I have ever seen for the past week. Stuff works great!

Alternate antenna locations??
COmputoman replied to Horatio's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Ok well since I also have horrible reception and also dont have XM (use to but forgot to pay the bill "intentionaly"), Lets see some more Shazzy antenna setups. 280zone I have always loved your car. Never noticed that antenna in the past. Looks hot. Good work Edit: Can you get us a picture of the front of your car 280zone? Thanks -
I used to have XM in my 280zx. Had it installed with a head unit that was XM ready. Also had the antenna coming out of the top of the hatch and onto the roof of the car (Bad Idea. The hatch would open too much and pinch the wire for the antenna)

When putting an L28E into my 260z I switched over to dual side draft su carbs and I love it. Seemed like a lot of work to mount the old FI system from my ZX into the 260 when I could just slap on a new set of carbs. Although my carbs looked really new and restored when I got them, so tuning was not an issue. To address your issue about the distributor. When dropping the L28E into my 260 the ZX distributor would not directly swap due to the little black box on the side of the dizzy (ignition control module) that didn't have anything to connect to. Swapped in the 260z Dizzy and everything worked fine. To clarify thats a 260 Distributor connected to a L28E in a 260z chassis that was originally setup for carburetors.

Anybody have this 3 piece Rear Spoiler?
COmputoman replied to Magnum380Z's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Scoutman, your ZX is amazing! Good work. -
The first one you posted is a 3d rendering, not a photoshop and has been posted here before. Pretty good one though. I like the one of the 240zg "Oldschool drifter!"

Here in TX we apparently have a law stating that only under passing (another car in front of you) circumstances you should be in the "passing lane" (the far left lane) on the highway. I learned this the hard way when driving in my 280zx on the way to work.... Bike cop pulls up next to me on the highway as im cruising (going the speed limit) in the "passing lane". Meanwhile all of the people in the other lanes are ahead also going the speed limit. Cop pulls me over... Me about to be late to work says "yes officer?", cop "you know why i pulled you over?", classic "no sir", cop "you were driving in the passing lane while not passing anyone.", Me "well to be passing someone I would have had to be speeding, as everyone else was going the maximum limit. Would you have pulled me over if i was speeding in the passing lane in order to pass someone?", cop "probably not". I then asked him if he could hurry because I was about to be late for work. Cop checks my history and finds a case I never got taken care of a few years ago and took me to jail... He was nice enough to let me call my family to take my car home and not impound it. I had to let my 80 year old grandma drive my 5 speed I sit in the back of the cop car watching her stall out over and over... I have also met a lot of nice cops.

I kind of feel like having 4 front signals is a little over kill. I have a grill from a 240 but it doesnt look like it will fit . Should I leave it the way it is? And if I do splice the connection to 2 additional lights will this pull too much current and dammage any components? I was also thinking of some driving lights where the signals are. Ben

74 260Z SU Carb swap pics anyone????
COmputoman replied to imjdoggie's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
no i did not. Srdub, I would make sure you are lightly tightening the bottom intake bolts/washers in first and then using those as a resting place for the manifold before you bolt in the top ones. if your manifold is not fitting it may be defective in some kind of way. If you need a new one I can sell you an E88 manifold for cheap, just PM me. Ben -
How is the early bumper mounted? Looks interesting.

KenshinX Current status: 260z build up
COmputoman replied to KenshinX's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I think scrappies words were insightful and useful in many ways. I also think, given the way this threads tone has escalated so quickly, it was the most genuine way of still trying to only help and not flame. Not to join in on the poop slinging fest over break methods, but im running drums that I have yet to get around to restoring since I got the car. They are squeeky, and I too was also considering a disc upgrades instead of machining my discs/drums and getting new pads. With that aside the drums do work well and have never unintentionaly locked on me. Good Luck! Ben -
When I swapped my 280zx motor into my 260z I lost quite a bit of ATF when moving over the torque converter. After the swap was complete i checked the levels and the dip stick said it had enough fluid. Every once and a while when driving I would have this problem where is slipped out of gear and I would have to just wait till it decided to re-engauge. Talked to some transmission guys and they said it wouldnt hurt to add a little over the full line on the dip stick to account for the gear lube that would be moving through the tranny when running and hot. I have heard in the past that overfilling is the death of an automatic tranny, but after adding that fluid I no longer had this problem. I say add a little tranny fluid and see if it clears the problem up any.. If its still happening, add more. Thats what I did

74 260Z SU Carb swap pics anyone????
COmputoman replied to imjdoggie's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
There are 3 lines on my fuel rail. .one line with fuel going through it. one line is not being used. The other one Feeds back to my fuel tank I think. I also do not have my vacume lines hooked up. Looks like kenshin just jumped his. (Is this normal? Do these usualy hook up to the vacume advance on your dizzy?) -
Mitsubishi eclipse with a GTR badge.... I rest my case. Retards need to learn that people who can identify badges usualy are people who will know they are from a different vehicle. I still cant decide if using fairlady badges on an american Z is ok. What do you all think? unless you are running RHD I'd count points off.

Agreed 1 tuff. Your interior rocks my socks. Please. more pictures!

I own a 260z and I can vouch for this.. In one day I spoke with 3 people who asked me if it was a 280z. When you respond with "no its a 260 with a 1982 280zx engine" The look on their face is usualy . At least one of them actualy had some Z knowlage. But on the flip side of things, I still enjoy talking to non infomed Z enthusiests. Everyone loves a Z and only current or previous z owners are going to know the ins and outs like we do. (unless they worked at a autoshop durring the 70's and 80's)
