  1. Is that the front of an old USAC midget I see in the back ground in that last picture? Who built it? We had an Offy powered, Kurtis back in the day. Our shop had a huge dirt truck parking lot, and we'ed take it out and hot lap it around the lot. There isn't any thing as sweet sounding as an Offenhauser when its wound up tight. Its amazing how often I've sold something I should have kept forever.
  2. Am I the only one who watches Criminal Minds? The other night there was a serial killer who lured his victems intohis dastardly clutches with a really clean looking Z. I 'm asking because usually there is a whole group of you guys who post about any Z that appears anywhere on the telly, and I haven't seen a word about this one.
  3. Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!
  4. The guy may not be a blithering idiot He could just as easily be a f***ing moron.
  5. Great information as always. I'm going to go take a look at it on the weekend, and now I have an ideaas to what to check Thanks Je
  6. There is a Mercedes SL for sale that I pass evey day on my way to town. It looks really neat, but I know nothing about MB's. I figured I'd ask you guys if you've had any experience with the SL. I think it is an SL 500, and I'd guess its about an '86.
  7. Don't forget the non words: More fun isn't "funner" and "funnest" isn't a word either.
  8. I remember when she was blonde and in the Miss teen USA contest http://video.google.com/videosearch?hl=en&q=Miss+Teen+USA&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=Yll4St_QDYuCsgPy-pHbBA&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4#
  9. I looked at a used Hobart cybertig a couple months ago. Sweet welder and he only wanted $500 for it. Water cooled and totally programable. Made our Lincoln tig master, and the Esab seem like toys. However it is an industrial unit uses about 90 amps of 220 volt 3 phase power. We would have to bring in a bigger power source or maybe have everyone in the neighborhood agree to shut down their houses when we decided to stick something together. So whaddayathink?
  10. I have to agree, but its easy to let the project get out of control. I started out to just drop a sbc into my Z31, and ended up turning the car into a garage full of parts, and a lot of moly tubing. I guess I'm just depressed because its been about a hundred degrees for a couple weeks, and its too hot to work in the shop. I fabbed a cowl for my hood to clear the carb and magneto. Of course now the mag sits behind the hood, and I'm welding the whole thing up so the whole front end will tilt forward.
  11. My Gawd! I knew my ex wife retired to Florida, I just didn't know where.
  12. That is about the prettiest Z31 I've seen, and that engine installation is outragous. I feel so inadequit!
  13. In our shop, we have an Esab wirefeeder, a Lincoln Tigmaster, and an old Millermatic 35. In my opinion, the Miller is the best reasonably priced welder there is. You can pick one up on Craigs list for 5 or 6 hundred dollars, plug it in to the cloths dryer outlet and weld anything (Unless you plan on building a battleship) Just my 2 cents Joe
  14. So what are you going to do with all that extra space in the engine compartment? :) Can you post some more pics of the car? It looks like it has a neat paint job, and maybe it'll inspire me to get back to work on mine.
  15. Autobahn - Kraftwerk (From before you were born) Third Stone from the Sun - Hendrix Damn near anything by Roy Rogers and the Delta Rythm Kings Of course most of the time I just crank up Bluesville on XM
  16. Now if only us Oregonians could convince all those Californians to share your sentiments ;)
  17. The light switch can be a real PITA, but if you pull it out and clean the contacts (little reeds) they will usually work. Just pull the cover, and the switch is held in with a couple of screws. Believe me, its a lot easier to pull and repair the switch than to try and dig into the wiring harness. As for the hood struts, check at NAPA or one of the other chain parts stores they are cheaper than yu might imagine. I might have a set somewhere in the garage that I won't be using (I'm going with a tilt front end) if I can find them they're yours. If you want them, PM me.
  18. Yeah, that about covers it.
  19. Go to the DMV. They make an hour seem like a year.
  20. We've been thinking about doing this in a couple years. First though we gotta get the Z31 done.
  21. I find that it saves a lot of grief just to refuse to work another people's cars. Grumpy, you didn't mention that when you help someone like he describes, they think your free labor includes a lifetime warranty.
  22. Does anyone know of a headlight application that uses 5 1/2" round headlights with bulbs that plug in, as opposed to sealed beams? I've gotten rid of the pop up units on the Z31, an d am replacing them with dual headlight units from a '77 Celica GT. They look good, but if a sealed beam goes out it will be a major PITA to change it. This project has been going on since the jurasic age, and I'm finally begining to get the firewall put in and the floor welded up. I need any suggetions anyone would care to make because i'm begining to lose patience. Thanx Joe
  23. So this means that Micheal Jackson will be spending eternity .with Billy Mays shouting in his ear.
