  1. Its all 20gauge sheet used for sections, and yes as you can see by pics all original mounting points were moved out equally.
  2. What do you mean no bangor, maine is ok...right?
  3. Hmm... and hes the only one who opted to test my parts lol.Although he still hasnt installed them yet..
  4. If you bondo it just make sure there is no way for water to hit the bondo after your done, bondo is like a sponge so you will want to get it covered with paint real good since there is going to be water getting in there again more than likely...Water+bondo=bubbles in paint. It doesnt look like you have much rust damage, you should just use a single thickness of fiberglass where needed,a little harder to sand down but more beefcake and weather resistant.
  5. Guessing that the flange is actually ok,just being in two pieces they probably didnt have the flange bolted to a jig while welding and the heat warpage caused it to go askew?regalrdless best option is bitching at seller:fmad:
  6. Hmm i think that idea might get stolen about now.....
  7. I could definately make use of the rear panels that have all the mount holes and venting.
  8. Well first thing you would have to do is ship your car to maine, probly about $1000 alone if your still interested let me know lol.
  9. In my opinion from the looks of the manifold i cant see how you could be ripped off at that price, the welds alone look like there is some considerable quality put into at least some of the part.I cant really see the inside too well from your pics but i would be happy to see that someone at least took the time to do some work in there.I know that i definately would not do that much welding alone for that price, and if it doesnt fit at least you have a pretty mantle piece.
  10. Lol,thats more like jumping stab and a full twist.Good disection of the front end i can definately see how everything is just a little askew, imo there is just a little too much open grill space, looks like a half smiling drunk chick.
  11. Hmm... i do like that look too, what to do now:confused: .I must say thanks to all for the compliments, really makes me want to get this done,However i regret to say like most of my projects this may take a while, especially now that i have been given additional ideas to tinker with.BTW im not to good with tire sizing, can anyone suggest what maximum tire i should be able to fit with 3" widening? i am going to get 5 lug conversions and have been looking at some 17x11's for mustangs, however i may be way off on the fitment.
  12. Ya im not sure what to do there yet,i actually am toying with moving the filler up to where the z emblem was but your idea is possible too.Either way it will be something different.
  13. Actually im not sure if i want to merge with the doors,i know that sounds silly to some but i have a picture in my head..i swear its cool.Im thinking about cutting into the new front section at the door jam and putting some kind of air vent, then doing something similar in the rear kind of like the mystery z only less squarish.
  14. After starting my thread concerning blue ovals car i became obsessed with starting on my cars body however,A. I havnt enough money right now for body kits and B. I dont really like the looks of most of them.I have always been a fan of the squared off look when it comes to cars rather than the bubbly imsa flare kind of look. With a little planning and a lot of balls i jumped into making my car a full 3" wider on both sides of the rear using only the existing body parts and simply spacing them out accordingly, and of course adding some steel to make it possible....why didnt i think of this a long time ago:icon50: The included pics show my progress over the past 12 hours or so,basically one side of the rear is done as far as the metal work is concerned, next the other side and then the front where i plan on 1.5"-2" rather than the full 3" in the rear.I am also planning on adding some cool venting and whatnot after i am done, then its time to glass it and mud it all to finish things up,oh also i have to bring the rocker panels out to meet the new width but no biggy. After the widebody is done i'll probably get back to getting my engine swap all buttoned up which unfortunately requires some cash:mad:
  15. Welding sheet metal is not easy, what j said about a hundred spot welds is the best way to make it easier, however with the right welder and experience perfect beads are possible. It has taken years of welding to learn but i now have no problem running a weld bead on 22 gauge sheet without burning through however this is only ok when warpage doesnt matter. You should try one of those copper thingies you put behind your weld to prevent burn through and the weld doesnt stick to it,i think eastwood has them too.
  16. Why is it that you are doing this?Interesting project but seems like a strange engine candidate. The vg30dett is a beauty of an engine but i cant picture one with a carb, not to mention half of nissans development cost for the motor went into the intake design,im thinking you will be taking a step backwards with it but it should be interesting to see finished.
  17. I am going to want another person to conduct testing, anyone interested please pm me.
  18. Mystery monza??? is this something you can buy and how if so?cant find a thing
  19. Very nice man, hope your strut tower does'nt melt.
  20. Wow!! kuwait, good thing your car looks like it will outrun a scud lol.
  21. I wasnt trying to say that turbo is cheap, not by any means but when compared to n/a tuning for the same result it is by far.I think if your going to upgrade all your internals, fuel system, ignition,as well as poring, polishing and whatnot y not turbo as well, after all that work you just made everything even better for doing so...- the big cams and super compression ratio anyway. Not to mention the result is far more dramatic.
  22. BY the way ive seen some mentioning here about the "monza mystery z"?? widebody, ive searched the forum and the internet in general and cant find a thing, the one pic i have seen i like very much.Does anyone know the deal with it?,is it available?,who makes it?,does it cost rediculous thousands of $?
  23. TURBO!!!! Sorry just had to drop my usuall out of place $.02.I love turbo because internal combustion engines are inheirently the most absurdly inefficient things ever. You are already wasting about 80 percent of your engines potential in heat loss,it seems common sense to scavenge that and make something of it.Even if you dont want to have 600hp,just have a low boost system and have piece of mind that your machine is doing what it is supposed to do better by means of scientific law.N/A is cool and i do respect the art of making it work good, its just becoming vintage technology like leaf springs and drum brakes. Not to mention its so easy to do nowadays, plus its cool to just tell your engine how much power you want at a given time by pushing buttons or at the hardest turning a screw.
  24. I have been planning on modifying a 280yz widebody or making my own kit for years, and my planned result is basically what you have blue. Now i feel like carrying through with my ideas will make me look like a copycat,really...its amazing how close my ideas are even to certain details. That type of hood is something i could not use on my car but the rear end is dead on (and looks awesome) with my thoughts as is the venting and whatnot.By the way what are your tire and wheel details? chances are when im done im going to want something similar....oh yea and wow!!
