  1. Wow those wheels tickle my fancy bigtime -the stupid mustang logo and powdercoated black..mmmm.Good price too!!
  2. As some of you may have seen im working on widening the body on my 280z by 3 inches per side and 2 up front.Im not real good with tire and wheel sizing so im wondering if anyone can help me come up with a general idea of what i should look for.I have coilovers on all corners, currently have original 4 bolt hubs and as i said the rear will be 3" wider and front 2".I want a wheel that is going to fill up the wells good and have the offset to bring them out to meet the quarter as they do stock.Basically what i need to know is would it be better to get 5 bolt hubs or stay with 4 and if so where should i look for custom wheels that wont totaly break me.I initially thought that getting the 5 lug conversion would solve my problems as i could mount mustang wheels which are big and wide but then realized that the positive offset was not going to work.Should i still do this and use spacers?should i think about custom made wheels?or does someone know of an existing type of wheel i could use,and im not opposed to getting some custom made lug adapters for whatever pattern needed as im sure that would be less than getting custom wheels.
  3. Damariscotta, Maine.....shut up steven king lives here:cry2:
  4. Actually as a mechanic i have found that haynes manuals can be the biggest waste of 15 bucks ever,in fact they usually are.If you relly have an interest in your car and you want to do whats best for it find a factory manual for it if you can,e-bay is a good place to start.Even the cheap cd roms of factory manuals are better than haynes.
  5. I dont think you could go wrong there if you did get it for $300 or so.However id plan on a pretty big budget getting it going, all the little parts it probably needs on top of what the seller already noted as missing.Good little motor though:)
  6. Could be any one of these things.Check your oil first,if there isnt any remove your charge pipe and see how easily your compressor wheel spins and if it spins, also alexs idea sounds remote but a good thought as well.
  7. I found it cuz you really cant get away from it if you search for anything datsun period, actually i think i got this site in search results one time looking for info about a washing machine or something? lol
  8. My condolences as well, however i just want to teleport everyone back a few years or more.Because of the circumstances it is easy to immediately call someone stupid or ignorant, but i guarantee everyone here at one time or another has done things that could have or should have had the same or worse results but luck won over.Unfortunately these kids did not have the luck at the right time to prevent this horrible accident. Most people i know would consider me a reasonably responsible and inteligent person but if any one of the many stupid things i did when i was younger(especially in the presence of girls)had gone differently i would be labeled an idiot forever. What happened to this girl is horrible but as has already been touched on,these kids are by no means off the hook, just imagine what they will live with from now on.I realize i do not know these two and it is entirely possible that they are complete useless morons, but accidents happen regardless. As far as laws are concerned i definately agree with the comment made that stupidity is rampant and does not discriminate, for this reason people really should have to be practically race trained to get a license, imagine how many accidents would be avoided if we all learned on a track with 400hp before even being able to drive to the store.
  9. Yea i guess, maybe its not the worst idea ever.....for me to poop on!
  10. Considering all the crap you would have to do to make the setup even remotely acceptable, why bother in the first place.I know that the cars in question supposedly have little room up front but if your going to go through all the work with this remote turbo foolishness why not use the effort to make some room up front. Also it sems to me that you should probably have an idea as to what your going to do with your motor before you do a swap, motors that leave no room for a single turbo are probably not good turbo z car candidates anyhow. If you want displacement power, get a huge motor. If you want turbos, get a suitable turbo motor, makes sense...right?
  11. I agree with mack, this concept goes against everything that is known about turocharging."low turbo temperatures" is not a good advertising point,if your turbo isnt getting hot than it isnt recieving heat(or energy).Internal combustion engines lose most of there potential to heat loss already, and turbos are made to scavenge this lost heat and turn it back into potential. However if the turbo is in the rear then you are losing however much heat is lost between the engine and 8' of exhaust tubing, which is a lot considering most respectable turbo system designers try to get the turbo as close to the cylinder head as possible. For this reason i can only look at the other statment made as complete bs..."denser exhaust gases drive turbine more efficiently" hmmm... yea...about that. Not to mention the fact that your boost has to fill who knows how much return tubing volume,as well as all the other problems already mentioned. On a scale of 1-10 for good ideas i would personally give a 2.This entire concept is akin to eating food by stuffing it up your backside and expecting to still get your vitamins and minerals.
  12. You can see pretty plainly that all the cars got no where near an equal start, would have made sense for one guy to drive them seperately.
  13. ROFL!!!! thats the most retarded crap ive ever seen..well almost
  14. You guys are retarded...i fart in your general direction!!
  15. I hear you on that, everything z32 related seems to be bolt on,which i am very much against..well unless its something i like and it is cheaper than i could make it:rolleyesg.Oh well,i want stainless anyway and the chances of somthing like that is not too good, maybe i will do a cad design for one and have e-machine shop pump a bunch out and i'll sell them if there is even a market for them, unfortunately you have to get like 25 of something made for the price to be reasonable..eeeh ^&%* it i'll just make some lol put the old plasma cutter to work.
  16. Yea, you usually dont have it right first time...prime it,check it,sand it,remud it,sand it, prime it,check it,sand it,remud it,sand it,prime it,check it ect. ect. something like that will become your life in body work.
  17. As some of you may know i have a vg30dett in my 280.One problem i have is that i need to make my own downpipes like the ones pictured only different, now why is it that there are all kinds of sources for blank 5 bolt turbo outlet flanges but no one offers the 4 bolt flanges even though many companies make downpipes in 4 bolt,IVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE!!!.I realistically could make my own but it would be nice for once if i didnt have to make something, and i cant be the only one who has needed these. http://www.z1motorsports.com/imagemagic.php?img=images/Z1-downpipes4bolt.jpg&w=400&h=267&page=popup
  18. Actually good body work is impossible by sight, anyone who is anything at body work goes by feel, learn to map every square inch with your hands and you will never miss a thing, highs and lows are easily found before you ever think of priming.
  19. Maybe one of these..can it fit? 12 cylinder 2 stroke turbo deisel oooh yea!! Max output:5,608,312 ft lbs at 102 rpm lol.
  20. i thought you wrote earlier that you had a tig welder? i would think that would be the weapon of choice.
