  1. Do you need the actual sliders that go on the bottom of the seat or the mounting brackets that are originally welded to the car floorpans? If its the latter Im willing to gently remove the ones on my parts car and send them to you. Let me know.
  2. Love your build. We might have to meet up sometime to talk datsun. I would definitely like to get a closer look at your suspension and brakes and well.... everything else. Im in chula vista if you ever want to take me up on the offer.
  3. Yeah.... the irregular shape is what is throwing me off too, thats why I mentioned seeing what it looks like on a scope. It probably is but like you im inexperienced in this area. Sorry I couldnt help you more.
  4. If you can grind the cam reluctor wheel down to just a single tooth wheel and modify the 24 tooth reluctor wheel to simulate a 12 minus 1 at crank speed then it is entirely possible. You can definitely run it in batch fire with ms2 but then again thats not what you asked. Also regarding the cam reluctor, you should put a scope on it to see what the wave looks like. You MIGHT be able to use it as a cam sensor unmodified if it looks like a single tooth wheel. Looks like fun. Ive always wanted to megasquirt my 7MGTE.
  5. Of course this comment comes from wichita. lol I grew up in Ark city, I didnt even know people played with datsuns in kansas.
  6. Thanks, very useful post to those of us running EDIS.
  7. I would like to chime in on this, First you WILL need a better clutch. I thought the same thing ( oh I dont need it.... its running stock boost) WRONG!!!! Started slipping about 2 weeks after the install going up a hiil. Just get a nissan hardbody d21 ka24e truck flywheel and clutch. Its under 200 for the whole kit and supports (supposedly) up to 400hp. Its definitely good to 300 though. As far as megasquirt, unless you want to spend buku money on an ms3 with expansion card and coilpacks and other crazy features just go for the ms2 v3.0 pcb. It will do everything you want it to.
  8. I have an ecu from my 77 280z. Name a price and its yours. Ill toss in the afm but you have to take your chances on that. I think its good though.
  9. Item #1 is a ballast resistor that is used with the stock datsun coil. You only need it if usin that coil but if memory serves me right, the rb20 has coil on plug. Item #2 makes me think that you have a 280z chassis, its used for connecting the ignitor wiring to the coil wiring on a stock datsun. Its "neater??" not needed though. Item #3 is the injector resistor packs (L28et swap?) Item #4 is for the wiper squirters. Good guess! The PO probably removed the wiper bottle because they tend to turn in to powder after 30+ years. Post pics of your mounts when you get a chance please. I was told that you can bolt this motor up with mercedes 6cyl diesel mounts AND use the stock driveshaft so I I would like to know if its true or not. Enlighten me please!!!! Good luck with your build. Looks fun.
  10. I think you need 11.4 inch rotors for those. I was told use an 84 n/a 300zx rear rotor but it migh need turned down a bit.
  11. Just letting you know so maybe you can save a buck, but all you really have to do is open up the hole on your intake a bit to clear the throttle butterfly valve. It bolts up after that. You can even do it with a dremel. Good luck!
  12. I have a passenger side dogleg panel from msa that I can let go for 40 shipped.
  13. I really want to voice my opinion on this but I think Ill just let this one go. Like all the others keep mentioning, maybe this site is due for another subforum or more faq stickies.
  14. Oh my bad, no you do not need the upper perch. You should have some big washers use those as well as the bearing that was on the top of it to have the rotating movement needed in the front. Im on 12 inch springs with amber plates and it only got me maybe 2 1/2 inches lower. If I had the 10 inch springs Im sure I would be happier but Im worried about the amount of shock travel I would have by going that route. Granted I didnt section my struts as much as others usually do. I plan on doing dc2 integra coilovers sometime, or maybe threading my tubes and running a theaded shock body for dual adjustable coilovers.
  15. Follow the faq as far as welding the "ring". Its the same regardless of spring length. Also, if not using camber plates you need to use the stock upper mount. You might need to drill out the upper mounts to fit the struts you choose. Btw, 12 inch springs when taking out 30mm (about 1 inch) only lowered my ride about an inch with 12 inch springs. Sounds like you need to read alot more before doing this. Good luck!!!
  16. Oh for dear christ, please post more!!!!! I need more pictures!!!! Awesome walkthrough on a mod that doesnt get done enough on L series engines. I LOVE this!!!
  17. I have a P90A hydraulic cam if you want it. Name a price and its yours. Don't forget shipping please!
  18. should be ok with just the one fuel pump and l/p pump for surge tank. Dont use the foam, it just breaks down so fast with ca 91 and it was floating over the fuel sending baffles and giving me false readings. plus it was rubbing on the top of the baffles and crumbling apart.
  19. Why would this topic be related to megasquirt? If you dont know what it is then it must not be right? Also Why are you insulting people for trying to help you? It IS intuitively obvious as to where the bearings go. Also you didnt need to go to a machine shop to ask that question. Its in the FSM as well as the rebuild your datsun book. The answers are well documented, all you need to do is look. Also my sealed power bearings came in a plastic tray with plastic sealed around it so if yours wasnt like that then someone might have returned it.
  20. Actually, try hooking up your signal wire on the dizzy to the signal wire for your ecu, give the dizzy power via a keyed ignition source, and ground the black wire and the spade connector. That should get you going. Sorry, Im sleepy right now.If that still gives you bad signal, just the pullup resistor as per megasquirt thread you posted and try again. One of those two setups should definitely work for you. I soldered the resistor straight to the dizzy power on my setup fyi.
  21. I dont know anything about the gotech ecu but do you have the signal wire going to the g/b wire on the dizzy, the +5v going to the b/w and negative going to black (these are colors directly off the dizzy, not the harness side, if you happended to cut it off and use the plug.)? If so do you have a pullup resistor on the signal wire? Also there is a spade connector on the dizzy itself by the base. That is where the signal wire was internally shielded. You definitely need to ground this spade connector. Try that first and see if your signal gets better. You are probably gonna need to play with some resistors on that +5v wire to get it working properly. good luck.
  22. The machine shop should know how much its been milled. If they dont know the stock thickness then I wouldnt take my stuff to them in the future. You can get shims form ebay, and Im pretty sure you can get them at O'Reilys as well. You can aslo get a head saver shim, which is a big copper headgsket that is 20 thousands thick. I also have some shims in my garage. If you want I can send some to you in an envelope. Just pm me with a price if you want them.
  23. I wouldnt do a suspension swap from a mk3. One, the suspension was designed for a heavy car and two, the rear subframe is notorious for cracking especially the 87 model. (ask me how I know). I might however try and retrofit the differential and halfshafts and maybe brakes if I really felt like playing on the bridgeport. I had a new friend show me his homebrew q45 diff swap and im certain that for less than $200 bucks I can do the same thing. He had the q45 shafts shortened at moser for $150!!! and then just used some aluminum to make hub adapters with hand tools, notched the rear a-arm bar, and fabbed up a simple mount much like the R/T for the front of the diff and called it a day!!! Sorry for the rambling btw. Or you could 2jz the mk3!!
  24. ... We get it man, you invented Devil z and used to drive it on the wangan highway which you built. Good job. Just let it go man, even though I know you cant do.
