    80 or 81 n/a tranny

I really need a 5speed and depending on the price i might want to take your engine off your hands. I really need the transmission to get my car running though. How much are you looking to get for it. Ill pm you.
  2. hey, I have a bw t5 out of a zxt. If you have a nissan 5spd I would be willing to trade.
  3. I have those wheels and I love them. Those, like mine, are not real libre's. The real ones have a strengthening rib on the inside of each spoke. Whether or not you actually need that extra strength on the street is debatable. In any case I haven't had any problems so I would say go for them.
  4. bayareazt, how much would you want for that 5speed and would you be willing to ship it?
  5. I love that corvair. About those jag engines, my dad just sold his 89 xjs and we loved it every time we drove it. It wasnt particularly fast, but I can attest that the xjs and xj12 were HEAVY cars. Just from pushing ours around the driveway I can pretty confidently say that it was in the 4000lb range. The overheating thing is true enough, though I think alot of that was caused by a somewhat shoehorned engine and a very narrow front end with no significant ventilation. We loved the appearance of the car so much though. We ended up having to sell it because we knew it needed some work and we really couldnt afford to maintain the car. I was doing all of the work yet it was still costing us a fortune in parts. I see that the corvair and DOT's car have alot of the ancillary stuff removed, but I have to say, doing a plug change on that car with everything still attached was a BEOTCH. I wish we had enough time and money to throw a V8 into my father's car, as it was flawless otherwise. Oh well, I'll buy and build him one when i get outta school.
  6. I too know that feeling. I had completely rewired all of the lights and horn, replaced the struts and rear brakes, and swapped in a new steering rack in my z before I got my liscence. was quite a good feeling to have it on the road for the first time. Ahh i havent driven my car in such a long time. Anyone got a nissan 5spd they wanna sell me haha.
  7. I believe the car silicone boy was referring to is a dual motorcycle engined ( gsxr1000?) all wheel drive one and I remember reading about it competing in some 0-100-0 competition and stomping all over the competition, including setting some rediculous 0-60 time. The Engines were mounted inline and both transmissions were retained, somehow enabling the car to have 6 forward and 6 reverse gears.
  8. norm, I have been shot at and shot and have seen many friends die due to guns. I am not particularly liberal but I think concealed carry liscences aren't the greatest idea. As is illustrated by oleh, if people really want to carry, they will, because the guns are simply that available. Also, 10 out of the 11 times I have seen guns fired at people with intent to hurt or kill them, both parties had guns. I have seen plenty of people threatened with guns, but it seems to be that most of the time when things escalate there are two or more guns involved. As such, I don't think the more guns = less crime approach works that well, at least not in downtown Newark where I have seen these things. I don't really know what the right solution to the problem is, and i dont know that there is one, I just know that generally, when someone with a gun is approached by another gun, thing usually don't end well for anyone. Just my two cents.
  9. can you imagine what the vrt35 v12 sounds like at its peak power rpm of 11600. That is something I want to hear.
  10. 240z hoke, I always wondered how the mpg gauge on my friends old 528e worked. It never occured to me that it was really a vaccuum gauge. That explains alot. Thanks haha.
  11. A friend of mine has a mid 1990's chevy cavalier which was having problems with the speedometer working ittermittantly. I figured this was due to the speedo cable or something similar and dismissed the problem. However lately ALL of the gauges have been sporadically reading nothing at all. This confuses me and I'm not quite sure how to fix this problem. If anyone has any ideas about what could be causing this I would really appreciate it. Thanks -will
  12. I just purchased on ebay and about to pick up an 86 mr2. Your's is beautiful and I cant wait to be driving mine. I found mine with 120k miles and a bit of rust but in perfect running condition for 450 bux, so I am pretty excited. Your engine rebuild looks great and itll be a brand new car when your done. Congrats the cars and the site.
  13. ecotec eh? thats the srt4 engine no? sounds like alot of potential to me.
  14. You could probably build one as fast for the price, but not something as well set up as that is, and not one that is street legal. Also, wouldn't you be able to use any of the tons of aftermarket support for honda engines and build an atom with say 350-400 hp relatively cheaply.
  15. When I was removing the engine and tranny from the car a while ago I had a hydrolic cylinder fail and I bent the flange that holds the rear tranny seal. This caused the transmission to leak, and the old seal to be pretty well stuck in there. I eventually got the old seal out and tried to reshape the flange, however part of it broke and now the transmission has a fairly fast leak. I was wondering if there is any easy way to replace this flange or if I should just bite the bullet and get a new (used) transmission. Thanks.
  16. nope, z32 is 5 lug, s30 is 4. There are conversions out there. If you do a search you'll find plenty of info.
  17. my friend has an 89 that he bought a while ago with 130k on it. It had a wierd hesitation issue which was cured with a new alternator. It is a really nice car, and is very quick for its age. I hear you have to stay on top of the valvetrain maintenance. There is a 60-120-180k service that I hear should really be adhered to so you might wanna find out when it was lastt done.
  18. Wow, now you really have me thinking that I should do a nice NA build of the l28et block I have layin around. hmmm....
  19. power, I honestly have no idea. I know im as quick as a v6 mazda 6, which has 230hp and weighs quite a bit more. At the wheels, I really have no idea. Its quick enough to be fun, and the response is great, enough to chirp them in second jabbing the throttle. Its fun having it so responsive. Every time someone drives my car, they are really jerky because of how quick the throttle is. So, yea, its not that fast, but its fun as hell and was dead reliable (the engine at least). I think im gonna get another z shell and put that engine in it if i dont sell it. The flat black is great. I think im gonna strip it down and re-flat it, as mine is textured enough that its hard to wash, but its so great to have it and not worry aobut it. Jsut to be able to spray a little more black on the chips or whatever. I love it. Now that i think about it, i'm wondering why I'm doing this anyway, haha.
  20. If you were closer I would offer you my built l24. It may not be making quite the power you are looking for but it certainly has the response and the character you speak of. It is a high comp, cammed, ported, and bored l24 with su's and a header. I love it, I am just looking for a bit more power. Oh well.
  21. hey, if your not too attached to em, i wouldnt mind takin those mirrors off your hands.
  22. "i had a girl tell me the other day i need to wash my hands... i told her i did and that there just staind and that she needs to lose weight." that made my day
  23. I have a 92 mazda 323 hatch that I have been driving around while the z is out of commission. It has 230k miles but ran very well until recently. For the past month or so it has developed a stumbling issue that happens ittermitantly. Occasionally it will fall flat on its face while accelerating, it is as if I am abruptly lifting off the throttle. It will do this on and off for a period of anywhere from 3seconds to a minute or two. at low speeds this is can be a big enough problem that I have to pull over and get out of the car. At low speeds it will often have trouble idling. At high speeds the momentum of the car is generally enough to keep it going through the trouble. Because this happens so occasionally it can be hard to diagnose. It does, however, appear to be electrical, and it seems to be completely on or off. I would really like to find this problem as it keeps me from trusting the car on long trips and i really need to be able to. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for what it could be or what you think I could do to diagnose it. Thanks
