  1. Did you check for spark on each new plug wire? Then make sure your carbs have fuel, if you have an electric fuel pump, turn on key, then open the plug on the float bowls to check for fuel flow. Your engine sounds timed so there is no issue there The orange air box is meant to be removed to allow for adjustments to the carbs...so they should run without them, if not, then adjust them to rule out any other issues.
  2. People in my area are playing the "rare" approach, but thanks to HZ and eBay which are very good markets to gauge the price of vehicles...and simply doing research on a technical forum such as this site will teach the average buyer to see what they are actually buying before dropping $$$ on a piece of junk. With a few years of selling experience on my part, I have learned not to buy from emotion...which is very hard to do in a niche market such as Z's.
  3. Do you have a 2 row in good shape? I have a couple of 3 rows but will not run A/C and will not use them...but I need spare 2 rows, just in case.Dave
  4. Got the radiator and everything else out of the way so I can pull the power train out tomorrow...but this Georgia heat is killing my motivation!!!
  5. ^^yeah but someone will drop a turbo in it
  6. If you have SU's then Miles is correct, I would also check the float bowl levels... they need to be the same. If that fails, I would look at replacing the points ignition...I put a pertronix electric ignition in my 73 and it took all of the timing, idle and hesitation issues out of that engine...plus it is budget friendly
  7. I'm looking to rebuild my engine within the next month and want to see if anyone has a set of rings. Stock Turbo pistons from an 83ZX engine...HMU.
  8. I have hardwoods, they will eat your chain up regardless of manufacturer. A good low priced saw is a Red Max if you have a store that carries them. I have cut down plenty of hardwoods with it, no stalling... you really need to keep the chain sharpened at every fueling.
  9. This site has a ton of information about upgrades and such, nice Z!!!
  10. Got all the stuff off of my turbo block and pressure washed it, next step is to break down the internals and rebuild them...any suggestions on ring, bearing, seals and gasket manufacturers. I'm just doing a stock turbo L28ET and I might throw in a intercooler and BOV.
  11. I got one from a 73 after I did the ZX alternator conversion. Pay shipping and its yours.
  12. And I will have fake and genuine pics with me, $400 new for a genuine BOV vs $100 for a used... seems to good to be true.
  13. I called the number from the post on Zilvia since I am close to ATL. The guy I spoke to owns a shop that does lots of custom engine work and he told me that he always has these BOVs in stock. I am going up there on the 29th to check out the shop and see what's up! Glad that someone saw and called out the fake part, I talked the price down fairly easy over the phone...MTF
  14. Thanks NewZed, I will read these conversions and see what the dealio is.
  15. Been doing a lot of searching on HZ for all of the upgrades that I want to do to my '73. To date I have the complete drivetrain and powertrain from an '83 ZXT that I am rebuilding and getting ready to drop into my '73. I am really having a hard time finding a definitive thread that shows exactly what I need in order to swap the '83ZXT R200 w/CVs into my 73 240Z, so if anyone can point me in the right direction for this conversion it would be great. All I can find is threads that end up rambling on and do not provide an answer. Also when replacing timing chain, piston rings, main seals and bearings on the 83 ZXT engine, what brand parts are people having the most success with? I have always used Japan made parts in the past on NA eninges , but I have never rebuilt a turbo engine and just want to do it right the first time.
  16. Pulled my turbo motor out of my donor car today...finally!
  17. So to clarify: If I use KYB excel-g struts with eibach or tokico springs (which lower the ride height) and use a eurathane bump stop, I should have no issues with damaging the struts? I will not be racing my car on a track or drag strip. 1973 240ZT
  18. I have urethane bump stops for my upcoming install, thanks for the help.
