  1. its also got a mother of a turbo in there
  2. we are at $0.768/Ltr. Canadian. Cheapest I can ever remember.
  3. Can I ask what RPM you are launching at? Dump or feathering it out of the hole? For Daily driving how is the cam?
  4. I like the idea of the big brakes AND the e-brake function. Very nice.
  5. Exactly, I believe your posts were the ones that made me shy away from the FG bumpers actually. Since I want to leave these 'raw' so to speak so the CF can be seen they would need to basically be good to go (short of clear coating I guess) out of the box, or only minor triming etc. I'm hoping someone can speak from experience
  6. I've done some searching and I'm at the point where I'm finally ready to drop both boat ancor's on the 280z in favour of the 240z bumpers. I've read that the FG bumpers from MSA are kind of hit and miss with initial quality and I am almost certain that I will not find a set of chrome bumper in the condition that I would want for my car. So that put the carbon Fiber bumpers next on the idea list. I love the look of them and my wife doesn't not like them which is a bonus. How is the fitment/quality of the CF pieces for those who have them? I'd love to see some more pictures of them if possible as well. Thanks in advance. Jason
  7. I was like WTF?! when I saw the .92 then laughed about the protractors
  8. Very nice times. I really like the pictures too, great vivid colours. stock 243's and a decent cam have done you well. Are you running the LS6 intake or a FAST one? Stock TB? Lastly any idea on what the weight of the car is?
  9. lol I was going to say "♥♥♥♥ son, 8' springs. you be ballin' fo sho!"
  10. I'd check fuel first personally. How old is the fuel filter? What is the fuel pressure at idle and under load?
  11. Thanks for letting me know. I was simply curious if there was a weight savings with it. I like the look of it and with my cowl hood it may be something that is a cool accent at a reasonable price.
  12. what is the weight savings of this CF panel vs the stocker?
  13. I had an F54 block with a moderate cam, header and 2.5" exhaust with a 5spd and 3.90:1 and I could get 20-25MPG on the highway at 70mph consistantly. I did have SU carb's not FI though, not that that should be a big difference though. I bought the car and from FL all the way to Canada (where I am) in December and I'm pretty sure without checking that I averaged 23~ mpg on that trip. that was with older plugs and unknown milage on the oil. 23hrs of straight driving. The car dyno'd the following fall at 162RWHP/162TQ... Thats 190crank give or take probably depending on who's percentage of drivetrain loss you believe in.
  14. I forgot to mention I haveinstalled an LS1 motor from a 2000 Trans Am. There aren't many "stock" ammenities left on the car, as such what should I be looking for. I remember when I used to drive to the gas station to fill up after a drive the gas cap was definately pressurized as you could hear it depressurize when the cap was removed. I now don't honestly recall hearing that the last little while that I've been driving the car, or at least it wasn't something I remembered. :s
  15. I'm sure this sounds like the other threads about the exhuast smell or gas smell IN the car. Well its not. I have a single car garage and the gas vapour smell in the garage with the garage door closed is unbarable. I mean when I open the door from inside the house to the garage my house smells like fuel. Its bad. My wife hates it and I'll be honest its bothering me too. I'd be dangerous to light a match probably as its that bad IMO. I have seen NO fuel leaks as there is no puddling on the floor and none of the fittings have 'sweat' on them that I've seen. The car doesn't have cats on it if that matters. My fuel system is this: Stock tank with welded AN fittings Aeromotive A1000 pump Inline Aeromotive fuel filter All braided AN fuel lines (supply, feed, return) Aeromotive Pressure regulator Stock LS1 fuel rail with welded AN fitting Stock gas cap. Thoughts comments or suggestions?
  16. My motor is out of a 2000 WS6- put into my '76 280z. Definately get the T56 from the Fbody cars. Having double overdrive for the highay (6th gear) is awesome. I have 3.90:1 gears and at 80MPH i'm at like 2000rpm or so only. I don't know if a Z tranny would hold the power for long. I'm sure you can pick up a cheap tranny on ls1tech or ebay or a wrecker to mate to the motor. How much is your total budget to do this build?
  17. cheap IMO. I think around $150 for springs and pushrods is what I spent (used) valvesprings, pushrods and away you go. roller rockers if you want to get fancy (i didn't, most don't). ls1tech.com will be your friend. I have bought ALL my aftermarket LS1 parts from the classifieds on that site and have not been let down once. most people won't recommend spinning to 7k, its just not needed. If you DO want to spin that high then definately pull the pan and replace the rod botls with ARP units as they are said to be the 'weak point' when going that high up the rpm band after the stock valvetrain is upgraded. My peak RWHP is at 6800rpm, I never shift there on the street and there is plenty of power from 3500-6k in 1-4th gears. It pulls like a raped ape. Going from 6th to 4th on the highway and hammering it enduces squirely rear end syndrom
  18. the ls1's have gobs of torque down low, throwing a cam in will raise the peak hp higher into the RPM range but you will still have power in all gears (esp compared to an NA zx)my power comes in at around 3500 and pulls till 6800+ (use proper valvetrain upgrades to spin past 6200 or so)
  19. I would for sure. My best friend has a 2000 Odessey and they pulled boats/trailers with it all the time without any issues. The newer vans are better than his for sure.
  20. 2000s didn't have the LS6 intake on them. I'd say aroudn 300rwhp -320 depending on headers and exhaust.
  21. i'm running a McLeod 800series clutch kit (pressure plate/flywheel) and I think for street its great. I'm told it can handle double stock LS1 power and I've seen on signs of slipping under any circumstances but I'm not making 600+ at the wheels by any means.
  22. I'm 99.9% sure the T56's were interchangable between the LSx motors. My '76 280z shifter hole let the transAm T56 slide right in, no modifications at all. It had the stock Hurst shifter and I threw a WS6store short shifter on and its the perfect fit/shift for me and my life likes it too.
  23. I don't have anything that works in my car and its kinda annoying. I live in Ontario Canada and there are fall days that driving the Z is uncomfortable. I'm going to look into an aftermarket solution of some sort this winter I think.
