  1. my dads 66 has a 283 with 400k on it. I hear the rattle when you let off the throttle. it sounds like something tapping like something shifting to hit things. never heard that sort of sound before though.
  2. lol I was going to say that too, then i noticed He's an Aussie
  3. wow, that REALLY sucks! at least it waited till you got home before it gave out!
  4. that plate shows the maximum vehicle loads. meaning, the maximum you can load onto that car safely. say the car has a CURB weight of 2000lbs, and a maximum cargo load of 400lbs, that brings the gvwr to 2400lbs.
  5. nah, that would be more like nitrous. the way that would work is have a nice big capacitor bank that will give more voltage than the normal output of all the batteries. hit a button and FOOOSH instant nitrous boost.....in an EV lol
  6. I REALLY love this show now. It litterally brought a tear to my eye. [spoiler warning highlight to read] The Z is destroyed by all standards, yet Akio wants to fix it. He even said, "Even if it'll never run again, I still want to try and repair the Z" Isn't this how all of us Z owners are? Everyone says it can't be done, it's not worth it, it's not worth anything. Yet we throw it all back at them "I don't care, I want to do it" I had to explain that to my mom tonight. I told her that I was going to pull it out of the shop and rebuild the engine. She freaked out saying how once it's finally running I'll have put over 3000 dollars into it including the cost of the car, and that I should've used the money i've been using on my Z to buy a half decent car that doesn't need work. I told her, "It's worth it. Once it's fixed it'll be worth it all. You'll see" The writer did a great job capturing the spirit of the Z owner.
  7. haha this is the one time Torrents aren't faster. it was just uploaded a few hours ago so there aren't many seeders. Direct download it'll be done in 4 minutes (356mb in 4 minutes? NICE)
  8. Just wanted to let everyone know, Episode 9 is out!
  9. It does seem that running the hot side across the rad, and the cold side direct would make it cooler, since the cold side doesn't have to cross the rad after it's been cooled by the IC, BUT the aluminum could be contributing to the lower temps as well.
  10. Wow, there are a lot of young Z owners around. and it's nice to know that you guys work on your cars on your own, instead of doing the ricer thing and having someone else do everything.
  11. I think what he ment by the whale tail having 0 increase in drag, is the overall drag coefficiency of the car as a whole, not just the wing. By redirecting the air flow over the car, i suppose you could increase downforce while decreasing OVERALL drag for the whole car. But the wing itself does function by increasing drag.
  12. I don't know the exact location on the 240z's, but on my 78 280z it's on the passanger side of the radiator bracket But that's on a 78. It may be different for a 71
  13. It depends imo. Running leaner CAN lower the HC and CO% but at the same time, will shoot NOX through the roof. a leaner engine that can still produce a complete burn will reduce emissions, but raise nox. Check to see how the pressure is after putting in more gas. The relay can only send as much voltage as it's being given (12 volts from the battery in this case) if it's not sending enough volts, there's a grounding issue, or a corrosion issue. I'm gonna guess that after putting gas in it it'll have the right pressure. If not, you can try hard wiring it and see if that fixes it.
  14. As do I, even though it might not be for another 5 years. It seems like the best design to fix several aerodynamic issues with the Z. the Gnose fixes some, but the shape just makes me think more air will slip under the car.
  15. the system for controlling the fuel pump is seperate from the system running the injectors, so yeah, if you hard wire it like you have it'll run like normal. Also, if your sucking air into the pump that'll cause it NOT to be able to pump to its full output, and that would cause that pressure drop you're seeing. Put 5 gallons in the tank and see what happens. the afm/water temp sensor/ecu controls the injector pulses, and the system that controls the fuel pump running on/off is seperate (you can hardwire the pump and it'll still run fine, though it's not reccomended you do so if your fuel pump relay is functioning correctly)
  16. Perfect AZ weather+Unregistered Z (possible engine rebuild?)=very sad m4xwellmurd3r
  17. Someone needs to find a way to create number 3, or at least find out where the original came from.
  18. Probably the same way most exotic critters find their way here, through importation of goods. It must've hitched a ride from somewhere, then possibly one of them had babies, and some of them must've hitched a kite ride to his yard
  19. at first i thought you said brown WINDOW like, burnt looking windows. but then I saw the pic. I wonder if a few brown widows snuck into your yard and killed off/hybridized with the black widow population.
  20. I dont' really see any problem with running it like that except the heat from the exhaust may affect it. Since the carbs draw air through, it's really pulling air from all around the filter now, instead of just the snorkel.
  21. beautiful job BUT I think it might look better if it was annodized some color. Black maybe?
  22. Another thing to do that will help relieve the stress and so you don't feel too overwhelmed, Do ONE section at a time. Ignore all other sections. Say, work on the frame rails and floors as one section. After that, do say, the left rear quarter, then move to a different section. but till one area is done ignore the rest. I've got add/adhd (from what everyone says) and I get overwhelmed easily if I don't ignore everything but one area at a time while I'm working.
  23. I bet he can program toast into it! I think this watch is cooler though http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/watches/8e18/ it's an OLED watch that plays MP3's, videos, and view images. So, I can WATCH a video of a sick Z racing, then have sick pictures of Z's as a wallpaper, I can listen to my favorite tunes, AND I can record the sounds of sick Z's for future listening pleasure. 80 bucks for 2 gigs isn't bad either.
  24. haha I almost wish rust was my issue. My car's in the shop cause it doesn't pass emissions to register it, and my complex doesn't allow unregistered cars. They can't figure out why it won't pass, except before that it needed a valve job. now it's either running pig rich, or is getting blowby through the rings, DESPITE the perfect compression test. I may just rent a storage unit and tear the engine out and do a rebuild. It should only take maybe 2 or 3 months to gather the money to rebuild her.
  25. Speaking of vespas, in NC there's a vespa tuning club of sorts, that can tune vespas to do 85-100mph. I sort of want an old school vespa so I can turbocharge it and bore it out. It'd be a pretty sick little thing wouldn't it? Complete with yellow paint an the P! logo from The Pillows
