  1. Unless I'm reading the thread wrong, which is possible haha, posts 42, 44 and 45 make it seem like their all the same spline count and it was a simple change of cv ends and a spacer being made. That being said its doubtful that any company is even still making new axles for a 90-92 pathfinder, I'm sure most are rebuilt by now, though that is something to consider. I just picked up a set of z31 turbo axles, I'll probably pick up a set of pathfinder axles soon to see what they look like and if its as simple as its made out to be.
  2. Saw this thread while doing some research, still requires some manipulation but it seems like the easiest way to do this without breaking the bank. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/72805-using-pathfinder-and-zxt-axles-to-install-30-spline-nismo-lsd-kit-56k/
  3. I'd be interested in the differences as well since I have a 78. Even paying Joe for MM's flanges wouldn't be so bad if axles were easier to deal with. Though I vaguely remember reading somewhere that people were running, I believe, 2 driver side axles because they are different sizes drive to passenger, which prevented any binding. Though I don't know how valid that info is or ever was. My real issue even past expenses with custom axles is that when they break in the middle of a long and expensive track weekend..then what? If possible I'd rather find a way to make off the shelf work, even if it means flipping cages to get that extra space.
  4. I too have been stressing over finding a way to do CV axles for a reasonable price. Maybe I'm crazy but it seems dumb to me that the most expensive aspect of my build would be the axles. 300 dollar short nose r200, 300 dollars worth of parts from TTT to make it fit. 400 dollar drive shaft and 1000 dollars in axles??? There just has be a better way.
  5. Thanks Nigel, you just saved me a heap of stress and headaches figuring out how I wanted to tackle this part of my build.
  6. It sounds to me like you need to come up with, and write down a plan of attack. Write it out in any logical way you see fit and start doing things one at a time. I have a 78 and my best friend has a 71 and he has similar issues your having. He see's his car and tries to attack every angle and everything that needs fixing. But doing to much at once just leaves you lost and annoyed at the end of the day. Just have to do things to it with out overwhelming yourself that way at the end of a day working on it you feel good because you've accomplished something. What exactly does your car need to run? What parts have you acquired? We can get through this!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha Oh and watching car videos a lot helps haha.
  7. Very nice product, If I didn't have so much on my plate right now I would be in on this. You can bet that you will be getting a pm from me in the near future though. How did you guys drill the rotors properly btw?
  8. I hand picked my rb25 from jdm engine zone in clifton nj, good set of guys. They dropped it off right to my shop free of charge. Typical warranty everyone else usually has but they do stand by it. Not that i needed it, my engine had perfect compression and the whole thing looked like it could have come from the show room floor. Hell even the exhaust bolts didn't have any rust on them.
  9. Luckily for you they have a website with very helpful people. Just incase, here you go: https://technotoytuning.com/
  10. This is a very good question and I've been wondering the same thing. I hope more people comment, would be good Information.
  11. Ok, I really need some guidance here. I'm looking to upgrade my 280s differential to a short nose r200 and although there is a wealth of information on this site, there's no actual answers to my questions that I have found despite all the stickies. My current options that I'm considering are a 6 bolt out put shaft r200 out of an r32 and a 5 bolt out of an r33 gtst. Now I figured out whats going on on the wheel side to make this work, but I still don't understand axle wise what i need to do? Buy 4 axles and send them out to have 2 custom shafts made to bolt in? Is their a different way? Is one differential easier to work with then the other? Thanks for your time, I really didn't know where to go and after months of searching I was starting to give up. Dave
  12. Oh I understand, still great nonetheless.
  13. Are you sure? i just feel like with your mods you would probably be making more power then that. You built an amazing car though, I hope mine can be that sweet when I'm done.
  14. Wow nice video. What kind of power and mods are you running?
  15. I feel like the biggest problem is durability compared to gains. And also you need to take into consideration what that extra movement is doing to the suspension geometry and what kind of negative effects it could have. It could possibly make the car feel unstable during rapid weight movements like going through a chicane or even something as simple as changing lanes.
  16. Theres a write up somewhere on the internet, of a fellow taking an FC Rx-7 fuel tank and modifying the rear to fit it. more work for some but fairly straight forwards. Though from what i remember you lose your spare tire well, you gain the benefits of having a fully baffled and EFI ready tank without losing any more room that a surge tank would take up. Just throwing that out there.
  17. If I had to guess its probably because the 240 is prettier, its usually why people buy the 240 over the 280 in general, despite them being near identical once the bumpers come off. In my opinion the 280z is more ready for the swap and the extra power then the 240.
  18. For starters, you need to determine if a coil did in fact die, and then identify which coil it is. Once you figure that out I'd swap that pack to a different cylinder to see if the issue travels with it. If it does then you just have another dead coil, stock coils weren't very good anyways. If it doesn't travel then your issue is elsewhere. Once you figure out that stuff, we can take this further, but until then its to difficult to give you a definite answer. If it turns out to be just another dead coil, I'd suggest changing to the ls2 coil setup, its fairly easy to install, especially on the s2 since it doesn't have the ignitor, their pretty much bullet proof and they can run on just about any dwell time reliably, including stock.
  19. How much ft-lbs of torque are you looking for anyways?
  20. Making moves! Can't wait to see the fire up video, closely followed by the burnout video lol.
  21. The guy probably estimated some to compensate since he might have been measuring one in the car. I know I would be pleasantly surprised at an extra 4 inches then pissed off that its 4 inches too big. Just a theory though.
