  1. None of those are it, the site I went to was specific to vehicle tags. It may have even been linked from a how-to restoration site. I know it's all the same so I'll keep looking but keep the information I find along the way.
  2. I just bought a new inspection light from thezstore.com and used one of those $2 LED flashlights from Autozone. The little plate the held the original bulb pops out (learned that from the rusty light that came with the car) making it really easy to cut a hole out the center of it and I used 5-min epoxy to hold it together. I made the clearance real tight so I barely needed any epoxy to hold it. I even went as far as to cut the hook that came off the original unit, hammer down the end of it, drill a tiny hole in and and attach it to the flashlight. Here's a few more pictures, and just because I can I'm throwing in what I just screwed onto my center console.
  3. A few months ago I found a site that gave you a detailed step-by-step instruction of acid etching your own data plates (like the ones the are in door jambs) but I've lost it. Just wondering if anybody else here might have the link, I've spent hours on Google and Yahoo already looking for it.
  4. Easy to make and I think it looks cooler that way and adds to the practicality. I'm working on a way to put a hook on it so you can hang it from the hood if working at night on the side of the road.
  5. I thought the light for the engine bay was cool but I didn't want to be bound by wires so look what I did.
  6. Yeah, I know what you meant. I posted the link before I reviewed it again and I was like "Oh, that's different...oh well" I've thought about the same thing but with having to fix so many other things, I just can't afford to worry about it yet.

  8. What about installing a 280ZX distributor and run a relay for the coil (since you don't need a resistor with the newer part) so you can use direct battery voltage with bigger wire to it?
  9. I say making a new suspension is a better idea. If you have a double wishbone centered in the wheel well you can have the spring going to the frame rails and then remove the strut towers for more trunk space. Why did Nissan even make it like that? Its the only pet peeve I have about the S30 aesthetics.
  10. Yeah, I love that, but I also want the armrests and handles on the door to be white along with the dash and center console.
  11. I've already planned on repainting my car white when I get the body worked out, I'd just like to see what white interior looks like because white on white might be cool.
  12. Does anyone have pictures of an all white interior in a S30? I complained about the heat build up in my car and my brother suggests making the interior white and after I laughed and thought about it, I thought it would look good.
  13. It should be a bunch of rednecks doing burnout competitions.
  14. What?! 9000!!! There's no way that can be right. You're scouter must be broken.
  15. I just got a reliable job (been doing odd jobs here and there for people so I would have a job for a while but it soon went away, ironically with that option the harder I worked the less money I got) so now I'm thinking about buying this 2+2 S130 that has a L28E, and 5 speed as a parts car. I figure $1500 and I get an engine, 5 speed tranny, R200 (I have a shortnose with 4.08 gear I got for free already but I want something a little more bolt-in and I rather have the lower gear ratio)and CV shafts. I think I would also use the S130 as a second car so I can do the chassis work I want to do. After I'm happy with the chassis I can drive the S30 around again and prepare the L28E to be swapped in because I don't know how long the L28 already in my S30 will last. It's nice having a reliable paycheck finally. After I got my 260Z running I was very happy with the character of the car so instead of making a fast car I rather have something inspired by the Z432 so I was thinking eventually a 2JZ-GE with ITBs. They're cheap and common.
  16. I think the front end looks pretty cool. The airdam should be redesigned but the top half of the front end looks good to me. I think the worse thing is the lack of the rear bumper being shaved.
  17. I didn't want to start a new thread about something small so I just hijacked this one. My question is if the arms on the regulator are supposed to be twisted like this? It's the passenger side of my 74' 260Z. Window rolled down but wouldn't roll back up.
  18. If the alternator is of suspect you can always take it off, take it to the auto parts store and they have that testing machine to see if it puts out enough amps. Battery cables are easy to replace yourself, just a bolt or a nut holding it on. I second on the universal battery terminals, I hate those, I like the lead-free terminals that come on the cables at the store.
  19. Its obvious an exhaust system can choke an engine if it's too small, but is there a too big? I've always taken exhaust systems the same way as header primary diameters, smaller to keep up velocities for low end torque and bigger for the higher RPM horsepower.
  20. ^^ You don't want a FWD 390Z with a VQ39DE that has Vtec?
  21. I've had my car towed off of campus property because I forgot put the parking thingy on my rear-view mirror (it was a parking permit in the style of a handicap thing, they switched to stickers later that year) so instead of getting a whatever amount ticket I had to call the tow company and pay $110 to get my car out. I say you were lucky that they're not as strict as WyoTech is.
  22. Winning bid $21,000...did the blonde come with it?
  23. I tried this in my 74' with a 92 Civic motor. No luck. Could my relays under the dash be dead? How do you test them?
  24. What are the --------------- lines on the 280Z side?
  25. How about some details about the car for those of us (including me) that don't know what you're running? I can't wait to see the pictures, I love seeing work in progress.
