  1. I would love to have a set written in American. I can't read Japanese...no matter how much I wish I could.
  2. Is this the book you have? http://www.amazon.com/Auto-Math-Handbook-John-Lawlor/dp/1557880204/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpi_1 That was the only John Lawlor book I found that related to automobiles, the rest were like changes in the educational system in 1970 and "social history."
  3. I was using the equations from Garrett's website before I found the link to this calculator and I was getting the same results. I'd have to check out that John Lawlor book.
  4. What I was shooting for was 375 hp out of a 2.5 liter. Max power at 6500, max torque at 4500, with 7000 Redline. I like how the graph is because the 6500 (I'm assuming the red dots are RPMs in 250 increments) is in the middle island while the reast are at least close by. I just wanted confirmation because I've never had to pick out a turbo before.
  5. I want to know if this is a good turbo to use based on the information I put in there: http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/graph.php?version=4&pr0=1&pr1=1.07&pr2=1.78&pr3=2.48&pr4=2.48&pr5=2.48&pr6=2.48&pr7=2.48&airflow0=2.6&airflow1=9.9&airflow2=18.7&airflow3=29.2&airflow4=34.7&airflow5=37.8&airflow6=40.5&airflow7=41.1&product_id=109 Just seeing if I'm doing good at reading the compressor maps.
  6. Great looking car, but the music reminds me of Dragonball Z. Which I like, I used to watch that show 24/7.
  7. When I saw the title I was thinking it was going to be a link to a video of a chick (as in a human of the female gender) standing in the road and getting hit (being in the way of the car)
  8. I was actually hoping to hear responses to this because I've never heard of a light being on the ECU itself, let alone flashing.
  9. The ducting coming out of the sides is just so it's easier to route isn't it? To me it looks like it only there because it's not obstructed by the engine that way (that's what the OP said isn't it?) From what I've learned off this forum it only takes an opening with the area of 1/4 of the heat exchanger's surface to keep it working efficiently (at speed, 1/3 for a car that sits in traffic) and that the exit opening needs to be about 3 times as big as the opening (I hope i have that right.) In my head it seems that it would be easier to get the 3 times larger opening (if you have a blocked off grill) by doing it because you can put some long, wide vents in the sides of the hood and since the L-series is so narrow making the ducting shouldn't be THAT hard...Thats all in theory of a 20 year old mind working off of absolutely no sleep. On a side note, I love looking at rally cars. I don't know why but to me they just look brutal. F1 and cars like that Corvette posted above are more...finesse looking.
  10. Before my Z stopped running I was on the interstate and I took a random glance at the oil pressure gauge and it read 0. There was no sounds coming from the engine bay and when I pulled off the side of the road I checked the oil and it was still full, I had it towed home anyways because I'm paranoid like that.
  11. $9.99 here http://www.dmrpcb.com/aero.html but I don't see an author's name or anything and I couldn't find it on Amazon. I like to search books on Amazon because with a lot of them you can see the Table of Contents of the books and get a better idea of if it would be useful to you or not. I have Race Car Aerodynamics: Designing for Speed and it's pretty technical, I had to read a lot of it over a few times to understand it. Learned a lot from it. I've been wanting to get Compitition Car Aerodynamics and I think I saw a book called Compitition Car Downforce, if I ever get the money to buy them I'll tell you how they are.
  12. So that's what happened to that site. I loved it, one of the most useful ones I've ever used, I would spend days on there looking at the differences between transmissions and its because of that site I was able to determine that my Mustang had a 4:10 gear in it by looking at the speed (from a speed camera) compared to RPM. I miss that site.
  13. The tires on my Z are about 10 years old but they look brand new, no cracks inside or out, still perfectly black color, and 100% tread. Do you think I should change them before I start driving it regularly?
  14. Is there a "Hot Rod White"? I think that would be nice.
  15. I've been searching for pictures of the kind of V8 that I saw in a book of race car pictures a while back ago. It had the exhaust on top (where the intake usually is) and I guess that means the intakes were where the exhaust usually goes. I don't know what this configuration is called so its hard to search for it in google and I don't remember what kind of car it was in, maybe an old Can Am car?
  16. Not to mention blocking off the grill just like with a S30. You can make a good grill design to make it less obvious that it's blocked. I've seen lots of OEM grills that when I got up close to them I saw that only about half the grill was actually open to airflow.
  17. So you're the one that gave the director that idea, he must have been driving behind you.
  18. I'd like to see that made. If it looks good I may start searching for a S130.
  19. I LOVE that Hot Rod Black, it makes me reconsider painting my car white.
  20. I've been out of it for a while. Was there a re-visit to a wind tunnel yet? I'd really be interested in the effects of shaving the drip rails now after seeing the pictures of the snow covered car.
  21. I have a 90'. The fastest accelerating car I've been in so far (the car is slow, I'm just too big of a loser to get rides in a fast car) but I believe it has a 4.10 gear or something because it's the only 5.0 I've seen that can comfortably cruise 35mph in 5th gear. I love the engine and never had a problem with it, but I've gone through 2 T5s already. It does have excessive understeer. I deem the Mustang only fun in the straight line but I like to corner so that's why I'm focusing on the Z (I've only driven the Z for about 5 hours total before it stopped and I haven't figured out whats wrong with it yet.)
  22. I really do like that. What does the mesh look like up close? Where'd you find it?
  23. No pictures with the top up? I never liked convertibles at all, but if I did that I would have had the trunk lid section laying flat with the body line instead of leaving the bottom part of the hatch. The hump caused by that just doesn't look right.
  24. Did you fold it in the middle to get a crease that flows with the body line going of the hood and going to the body line on the air dam? (I can't tell by looking if there is an air dam or not) I like the mesh but agree that it needs to be painted or something. It might just be too showy in the photo because of the light source. It probably looks a lot better in person.
