No need to ask where is the exhaust :D

I wonder if those are my old Revolutions? Seems to be making the rounds.

I only got back form NYC late yesterday evening and did not even go into the garage. I will be lucky to get it running this week and shoot for next Wednesday.

I am using Tokico Illuminas. Not a true 90/10 but it gets the job done. What you want is a quick rebound/slow compression on the front and the opposite on the rear. When I ran the Nissan IRS, I also had them on the rear suspension. I now have a similar adjustable shock on the Vette IRS. On launch my front-end comes up quickly and the rear squats quickly for maximum weight transfer then the car settles back to normal slowly so as not to unload the rear too quickly. If it was a solid rear I would probably have a foot or 2 of air under the front tires. I know this goes against all conventional thinking for the non drag racers but who is going to argue with mid-1.40s 60'. The beauty of the Illuminas is that you can adjust them to this setting when you get to the track and set them back before driving home. All other times you can carve canyons if you so desire.

Unless you are looking to make a show, do not worry about it. You can count the coils on my front springs when I launch but the car just squirts off the line. Lots of V-8s pulling wheelies with slower 60' than mine :D

Have not had the time to do anything with my website, including the new version I am working on. It is way behind on information. Bests: Best timeslip: 10.36 @ 131.75 with a 1.49 60' Best 60': 1.45 (couple of times) Best MPH: 132.31 Do not get discouraged in your attempts to break into the 10s. It will come but it is not easy.

You said you ramp to 14* @ 5#. Hope you meant to say 14* @ 15# because taking out 14* @ 5# will kill performance. You are on the right track with the 2 plugs running lean. Good luck.

Very Nice! -
What do you plan to do with the car? How much HP are you looking for and how much are you willing to spend?

Do not mess with the turbine housing and DP. The problem is the wastegate hole as previously stated. DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT weld a washer on the existing puck. Find out what larger pucks are available and that will help determine how big the hole can be opened up. It is a PITA, but if you get a bigger puck, I would install it before opening the hole to see the signature that the hole makes on the puck and then take it apart again and open the hole accordingly. Sometimes the puck is not centered perfectly over the hole and you do not want to make a bigger hole to discover it is not completely covered by the puck.

A bus stops and two Italian men get on. They sit down and engage in ananimated conversation. The lady sitting behind them ignores them at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of the men say thefollowing:"Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I comeonce-a-more. Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come one lasta time." "You foul-mouthed sex obsessed swine," retorted the lady indignantly. "In this country....we don't speak aloud in pubic places about our sex lives........ "Hey, coola down lady," said the man. "Who talkin' abouta sexa? I'm ajusta tellin' my frienda how to spella 'Mississippi'."

Thanks. I am in NYC with virtually no access. Jumped on with a slow modem and this is too painful. I will be back next Tuesday.

Ditto on the Omnis. My daily driver is a 96 Saab 9000CS, not exactly the car you expect a hotrodder to drive. 5-sp, 2.3L turbo and one sweet car.

Glad to see this post and others like it resurface. Tim's point earlier about the BIG! Aeromotive pump and the MSD pump is why I am disappointed (but not surprised) that manufacturers do not publish performance specifications like this: http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/fuelsystem/walbroflow.html The Walbro GSL392 is one that I and many others have used making a lot of HP with a lot of boost. With this type of information, knowledge of your FP @ 0psi, max boost psi and HP goal, you could then make intelligent decisions on a pump. Also never forget that pump performance, especially at high pressure, is greatly impacted by voltage, especially the lack of it. Do not get caught up in advertising hype.

Is that intial, full advance or total? How are you verifying timing at 12psi boost?
-
I used 2.25 mandrel pipes on my L28ET with a medium NPR. On the GNZ I run 2.25 on the turbo side with the turbo end using a 2.25" to 2" transition hose (turbo outlet is 2") and on the I/C end, the 2.25" pipe is expanded to 2.5" to match the I/C. On the TB side I use 2.5" pipe to a 62mm TB. This is supporting close to 500rwhp.

Let me take a stab at this based on my experience when I was tuning my stock L28ET with SDS. DISCLAIMER: this is by no means gospel, just what worked for me and the same philosophy I follow today. I once had a copy of the L28ET timing curve that was published by someone but it was on paper and long lost. Anyone remember paper? Even better joke if you are a "Waterworld" fan :D Full advance was in at 3000 and what I found to be a good starting point for tuning for pump gas (the quality could make a BIG difference) was a total of about 22-24* @ 15psi boost. If you follow a simple, linear map to retard 1* per 1psi boost, then you would want the full advance to be about 37-38* to have 22-23* total at 15psi boost (38* advance - 15* retard = 23* total). So, with an initial of 20*, you can then build a linear map to ramp the timing up to 38* advance at 3000. Since you are not likely to have 15psi boost below 3000, it should be perfect. All the maps are linear in the example and that can be refined later when fine tuning if you feel the need to ramp differently on the way to full advance. You can also get more aggresive with the timing if there is no detonation. However, I fully believe more boost and less timing nets more power than less boost and more timing, as long as you are not detonating. Also, if you are not detonating and the EGTs are low (rich) you have the option to run more timing, turn down the FP or turn up the boost. Hmm, tough choice Hope that did not muddy the waters and I know I did not specifically tell you what the stock ignition timing map is, but I feel you can confidently assume what I suggest to match it since mine was based on it.

Cowboy, just curious. Why the need or desire to change from the Nissan IRS?
-
I really do not have much to say on the T-5 fitment. I originally designed and built this DP for my L28ET/Nissan 5-spd and a couple of local friends saw the results are asked me to duplicate it. Word got out and that turned into the need for a duplicate to have accurate duplication. At the price I was selling them for, I was definitely not going to quit my day job If I had a 1st-gen Z with an L28ET and T-5 to take all the right measurements and do the trial fitment I would have made one but then it got to be too much a hassle for just a hobby. Me personally, I prefer the Nissan 5-spd especially when it has lube like Redline MTL.

Jersey, never received any emails from you.

Mike, your response needs a little clarification regarding the TH200. It was available in several GM vehicles but the version in the GN was special with a different valve body, servo, shift governor, convertor, etc, making it capable of withstanding lots more HP and more important, low-end torque. You usually do not find these laying around in a junkyard and probably not needed for a mild V-8 swap.

Then what is the point of a 600hp BBC and Ford 9" in a Z-car?
-
My comments were not directed at any specific individual but those in general who I see doing it. It probably means absolutely nothing to anyone else, just a personal nit with me.
-
I try to bite my tongue most of the times but I am developing a serious distaste for folks who respond with "THIS or THAT SUCKS!" without giving some reasoning behind the statement. This is especially grating to my nerves when the person making the claim has no personal experience to make such a claim. While I am on my soapbox, let me express one more. I know everyone is entitled to their opinions, free speech, blah, blah, but it really irks me when I see someone criticize another person's car or its performance when their own car is a dream, project in progress or is not even in the same ballpark with its performance. OK, I got that off my chest. FLAME AWAY! BTW, MikeK, excellent points.

We use the average of the 2, advertised as R+M2.
