  1. If you have a large vaccum leak after the MAF it could cause a very rough idle and possibly cause a hard start issue. Unplugging the MAF will force the ECM to default to speed density. If it runs normal with it unplugged then you need a MAF(assuming your wiring is good of course). Guy
  2. What about the timing? Not ignition but the cam to crank timing? Are you sure that its set right? Wrong timing will cause issues like this. Also has the engine been broken in yet? Maybe the cam has some lobes worn off from a bad break in procedure. You could pull the valve covers and see if all the rockers are moving the same amount. Of course you said that the compression was good so this is probably not the case. So you have not actually checked fuel pressure while cranking? Even if you have it wired independently I would still check it while cranking just to be 100% sure you have it wired correctly. You said you have it wired for ignition power but unless you have it wired to a 12V while cranking powe source it wont turn the pump while your tring to start it. Guy
  3. I am thinking the same thing. Is your fuel pump running while cranking? And what is the fuel pressure while cranking/sorta running...? Guy
  4. The auction says H1 bulbs, those dont use ballist. They are just regular halogen bulbs. I don't know if those headlights will work properly with xenon bulbs if that's what your looking for. They might not sit in the housing at the right depth to get the effect you want out of them. Xenon bulb system use less electricity than your standard halogen bulb systems. I think it's like 25% less(IIRC...). Guy
  5. LOL! Whoops! I think I finally passed that little bastard! VICTORY IS MINE! LOL Guy
  6. Full sized pic... http://www.datsun-280zx-lt1.com/Big_Pictures/Recent_pics/PICT0573.JPG Guy
  7. Ditto! Not only that but you wont get the effect you want out of a $25 housing. Sorry but there really is no cheap or easy way to have HID's/Projector lights.
  8. It can be a few things...herititary, poor diet, not drinking enough water, and some other stuff. The first three are the main causes.
  9. I am using the whole projector just like you have pictured there. I cut off some of the corners so that was smaller though(Like the bottom of the projector you have pictured). Guy
  10. Well I am currently trying to pass my 3rd stone in 2.5 years! Oh joy! My first was quite a shock to me. I was sitting on the couch watching TV with my roomate and GF one night when all of a sudden I had a slight pain in my kidney area. At first it wasn't too bad. I just started walking around saying that I had a muscle cramp. Then 10 minutes later I was laying on the floor in horrible pain. My GF kind of started freaking out and she called the Nurses Direct hotline. They told her that it was probably a kidney stone and that I should go to the hospital to get it checked out for sure. So we went to the emergency room, where I sat there for an hour waiting... By then I had passed it into my bladder where it no longer hurt. They did a xray/scan of some sort on my midsection and confirmed that's what it was. This little trip to the hospital costed me almost $2000! The 2nd time was after a hot and humid 4 day camping trip in August last summer. The doctors said I probably got dehydrated and that's what triggered it. This time they didn't do a scan but put me on an IV and drugged me up for a while. Then they sent me home with a perscription for vicodin. That time it "only" costed me $600. Now this time I woke up to go to work yesterday. Got there at 7:30 started to work when all of a sudden I started to get some minor pain in my kidney area again. I started hoping and praying that it wasn't what I thought it was but 20 minutes later I was laying on the ground in horrible pain again begging for some drugs! LOL My service writer thankfully found some some with some vicodin. I took 2 of them and tried to continue to work but again I was laying on the ground still in pain when my manager came over and told me to go home. So I got 6 more pills from the same person who gave me the other 2 and went home. Once I got there I passed out for a while and the pain wasn't so bad. 4 hours later after those first pills wore of though I was in pain again. So 2 more pills later and Im good to go. Once my GF came over, she helped me with keeping me comfortable. I didn't get much sleep last night but when I woke up today I wasn't really in pain but mostly just sore. So I though maybe it had passed into my bladder. Well about 2 hours ago I had another sharp pain hit me in my lower back....2 pills later and I'm good to go again! Man I can't wait to piss out this ROCK! LOL The doctors told me the first time that mine were very small and that I might pass them without even noticing it but so far no luck with that plan! LOL All I know is that I'm not going to the doctor so that they can say "yup you have a kidney stone...here's a perscription for vicoden" and then charge me $600+. I have 20 oxycodene pills that will get me through this and they didn't cost me a thing! Guy:ugg:
  11. It has held up great actually. No peeling or chipping of any kind. I still wish I would have left the paint in there over this but it still looks pretty good like it is. If you want durable this is your answer. You want pretty then paint it. Guy
  12. Warren I think that explains it. My pic is the same as yours just lable different. I am not using any of the stock wiring in my car except for a few connectors going to things like the mirrors, p/w, heater control, etc. I don't have stock headlights but I was just wondering how they had it wired up. I think I have it figured out now! Thanks guys! Guy
  13. Well I've started to rewire my car and I've hit a small snag. I am trying to figure out the headlight switch wiring but I'm unsure as to how the factory had it wired through the relay. On the switch side of the relay there is a "D" labled on one side(the normally open side) and the other side it is labled "M"(normally closed side). Basically the factory was using the 87 and 87a pins of a normal relay. I just want to know what the D and M stand for? I have a factory service manual but either its not in there or I can't find it. So 280ZX gurus shed some "light" on this for me! LOL sorry bad joke! Guy
  14. You need to find a younger guy at one of those dealerships who likes fast cars and will do this for you out in the parking lot for CASH! I do stuff like this for people at work all the time. Some times it's better for everyone if there's no paper trail. This way there's no liabilty for anyone because no one can prove anything. You find the right guy at one of those dealerships and you good to go forever with this kind of stuff. Here's how I would go about it, call into one of those dealerships and ask to speak to one of the mechanics. Tell them you have some questions on some performance parts for a "Camaro". This will most likely get you in touch with someone who likes performace cars and can help you with you situation. Guy
  15. Thank god for stupid people! There wouldn't be anything to laugh at if it weren't for them!
  16. Thank god everyone thinks this car is ugly! LOL My frist thought was why oh why did they put that tire on that small of a rim!? It would look good with the right size tires and some camber adjustment though... Guy
  17. I used the peal n' seal in my car and I really think it helped a lot. I have gotten multiple comments from multiple different people about how quite my car is for a 28 year old car. I put 1 layer through out the whole interior and 2 layers in some spots. It's quite enough for me! Guy
  18. FACT: stock hood weights 50lbs John's(Beta Motorsports) hood weights about 15lbs(so I'm sure this one is close to that) and even less when its carbon fiber! Thats a pretty big chunk of weight off the front end, not to mention the SS hood looks good!(IMHO) Guy
  19. I'm not sure what you mean? How thick was what plate? The part where the bolts go through is probably 1/4" maybe a little less? Guy
  20. Pat's have been pulling wins out of their you know what for 6 weeks, I would love to see the Giants spank them in the Super Bowl. As for the NYG vs GB game, I'm still pissed(big GB fan here!). GB has played great for the last few weeks and I really thought this game would be a walk in the park. Then it would be off to the Super Bowl and we could really give the Pats a run for their money. Fact of the matter is GB played horrible tonight, couldn't move the ball to save their a$$! Grrrrr! As for the Pats being cheaters, well yeah they are but the only difference between them and every other team is they got caught. Not saying every team is doing the same thing they did but I bet every team bends rules/cheats in some way, shape, or form. Every sport cheats, its just a matter if you get caught. It's only cheating if you get caught and thats just human nature! Christ look at Racing of any nature... Guy
  21. Looks GREAT! I love the whole back of your car! Lights look sweet and so do the tips! Nice job! Can't wait to see some burn out vid's! Guy
  22. I have pics and rough dimensions of the the MSA mounts. They are very basic and would be very easy to make. They are not set back or allow any adjustment like the JTR ones. If mine were slotted I could have slid my LT1 back some before it would have hit the firewall. http://www.datsun-280zx-lt1.com/SpecialPartsandMounts.html Guy
  23. I could see 2700lbs with no A/C or power anything. Taking the A/C stuff out would probably shave damn near 100lbs itself! Guy
