  1. Yeah I hope everything works out over there. Be sure to stop in and keep us up to date on how things are going! Guy
  2. No I mean the black stuff. Atleast thats what color we use. We als have orange RTV but we only use that on rearends with LSD. By with in reason, I mean dont use the whole tube of it on one pan! LOL Just put about a 1/8" bead all the way around the pan(after you scuff up the pan surface). Then clean up the tranny surface real nice, spray it with brake clean and put the pan on. Then just put the bolts in so that they are tight(we dont torque them at work either, we just tighten them down evenly by hand). I dont use the silicon/RTV with a gasket just because I dont feel it is needed. As for your tranny in your Caravan, all I can say is do your tranny flushes religously at 30-40K miles. They arent the best trannys in the world thats for sure! If you do your maintance at the same shop they might give you a deal when/if your tranny does go. Thats how we treat our "good customers". Guy
  3. Well if your using a chrome pan, you have to scuff up the gasket surface or it wont seal because the surface is too smooth. If I were you I would drop the pan and remove the cork gasket and just use some engine RTV to seal up the pan. You will not have to worry about RTV getting in to the tranny if you use it with in reason. I do it all the time at work because all the Dodge Caravans dont use gaskets and require the use of RTV to seal the pan. Guy
  4. Oh by all means please do fab up some motor mounts but be sure to post pictures! Motor mounts arent really that hard to make themselves but getting everthing else in the engine bay to line up is the hard part. You have to think 10 steps ahead on how everything else will fit with the motor sitting in "X position" I personally would love to see an LS1 280ZX. If I didnt have a nice LT1 in mine I would deffinetly go with an LS1 no question about it! But I would go with the T56, like I did with the LT1. Guy
  5. Yeah the actual engine was from a 93' camaro but I have updated all of the engine to a 95'. I should have done more research before I bought it but I was to eager to buy an engine so I bought the 93' and then came to find out more info about how the 95' is the "best/ideal year" Guy
  6. Again, NO ONE SELLS ANY LS1 swap parts for a 280ZX. The headers that you are reffering to are for older SBC and LT1's. They require the use of the a rack and pinion steering set up and not the recipocating ball type steering gear box. Guy ps...just trying to keep the facts straight thats all
  7. Here's a link to a page I just put together for the 1995 LT1 wiring out of a Camaro. This is the only info that I needed to rewire my stock 95' harness to use in my car. LT1 WIRING INFO/DIAGRAMS Hope this helps someone! Guy
  8. There are no kits avaliable for the 280ZX for an LS1 swap. If you went with an older SBC or LT1 engine you could buy a mounting kit from MSA and headers from JTR. If you want the LS1 then you will have to fab up everything. There are no bolt in parts for the conversion. You can probably use the radiator from JTR, but thats about it as far as bolt it stuff. The part that sucks is there probably wont ever be an LS1 kit for the 280ZX because they just arent as popular as the GEN 1 Z's. So it would be kind of foolish for someone to go threw the trouble of making a kit that just wont sell as easily as a kit for GEN 1 Z's would/does. Guy
  9. Obviously no one explained the principals of weight transfer to him! Guy
  10. Why does it matter what gear box(I assume you mean tranny?) it had? The 350 will not bolt up to it and if you made an adapter for it, it wouldnt hold up to the abuse of a 350/382TT? Guy
  11. You can boost an LS1 the same as an LT1, both are running high comression. The LT1 is running 10.5:1 and Im cant remember what the LS1 is exactly... The LS1 is with out a doubt a better engine from every stand point. It also costs more, but I think the extra cost is worth it down the road. The LS1 just keeps getting cheaper to buy parts for. Guy
  12. Now those would sell like hotcakes on Ebay! I bet you could get $35-40 for one of those! Guy
  13. From what I know DSL gets slower the farther you are away from the point of origin. I think it only reaches like 6-7 miles from the point of origin. I have Roadrunner/cable modem, and I couldnt be happier. Super fast everything! Guy
  14. If you go to www.bearshare.com and download their software for "filesharing" you can find a copy of it on their filesharing network. I searched for "3D Studio Max" and I came up with 2 big zip files for both 6 and 7 versions. I didnt download them though to see what they are. The site is free too! Guy
  15. Nice vids! I love seeing F-Bodys get smoked! I like the F-bodys just not most of the drivers. Guy
  16. WOW now that is a serious impulse buy! Great choice though! The best part is that you dont have to figure out what someone else did with anything because its bone stock! AKA you dont have to fix someone else's F*** up! LOL Guy
  17. Now machine shops are using what is called a "platue"(sp?) stone. I think it is even finer than a 500 grit. Basically from what I understand there is very very little break in time for the rings with this stone. And ya none of those stones you mentioned are even close to what should be used. I would also recommend atleast a 400 grit stone. Guy
  18. I cant wait to see pics! Yeah I have one just like yours sitting at home but its nice seeing how other guys have done stuff! Guy
  19. When you tell someone that you have the power to weight ratio close to or better than a Viper and they just dont believe you.... Or when someone says how much did that cost to do and you just say "Id rather not talk about it!" LOL Guy
  20. Heheheh, did you have yours on when "the incident" happend? If so what do you think happend? Did the pressure just bleed off? Guy
  21. I was just thinking tonight about how everyone hates the parking brake set ups on the 280ZX's. I was watching RIDES tonight on TV and when they put a front brake set up on the rear it eliminated the parking brake, it was all for show so they didnt really care but that got me thinking.... What if you installed a valve between the master cylinder and the line going back to the rear brakes? Then you could step on the brake pedal to apply pressure to the rear brakes, turn the valve closed, and then release the brake pedal. That should hold pressure on the rear brakes right? What do you guys think? Would this in theory work? Guy
  22. Making motor mounts is not really that complicated. All you really need to do is take your time and think about how every thing else will clear(things like exhaust clearance, accesory clearances, oil pan clearance, hood clearance, firewall clearance, etc...). However if you dont have a welder this could be an issue. Guy
  23. Hey Bill, I saw your car on Main Street in Clintonville today! I was just passing through on the way home. Sure did look purdy! As for using the filler...do I put the filler over the top of the primer? Guy
  24. Nope and I really doubt there ever will be. There just isnt a demand for it. The SBC mounts will work for the older engines and the LT1 in a 280ZX. Take a peek at my site if you want to see how I have my LT1/T56 mounted in my 80' 280ZX. Guy
