  1. I am using the stock gas pedal in my LT1 powered 280ZX, however I removed the gas pedal and "reformed" it so that I had enough travel. I wish I could give you a rough measurement but it was so long ago that I dont know exactly what I did to get enough travel. I still using that plastic ball that the old linkage used to connect to the gas pedal. I will get some pics for you tomorrow when Im out in the garage. You should be able to get the point with some pics. Guy
  2. Probably just a stress crack that finally gave out. Get a "new" case and put it back together. While its a part though make sure to look for internal damage. Guy
  3. Im not debating Carb Vs EFI, I saying its stupid to turn a EFI motor like the LS1 into acarb'd motor. I think it defeats the purpose of using the LS1's. I guess using the all alluminum LS1 block and heads would be benifical over an older SBC with a carb but for how much money that is stuck in that car, they could have bought an alluminum block and heads and done the same thing with ford stuff. I think they did this mostly to piss of the F-body guys, which is fine by me! I just laugh when guys get pissed off about stuff like that cause us Hybrid guys do it all the time("swap motors into cars they dont belong in") Guy
  4. I think its funny that the F-body guys get all pissed off that a Stang has an LS1 in it! If they only knew what we were doing with the LS1's! And I dont care what anyone says putting a carb on an LS1 is DUMB! Why bother with an LS1 when its cheaper to build a GEN1 SBC with a carb? Guy
  5. Sounds like your just about "done" with that beast! I really want to do the same thing you are doing with the leather covering up the strut towers. The plastic (in my 280ZX) just isnt all that great looking IMHO. However, I need to paint the outside of my car and attach the body kit first before I worry about perfecting my interior. My interior is pretty nice for stock stuff but it still needs improvment over stock. I can't wait to see pics!
  6. I'm pretty sure the owner is a member on this site. I know I have seen these pics posted before but that was back on the old site format. Guy
  7. Man Mike you got it good! I work at a Dodge dealership and yeah recalls suck and they pay like $hit! I dont plan on working for a dealership forever but I am learning a lot about cars in the mean time. In the last 2 years of work experience I have learned 10 times what I learned in the 2 years of schooling I had for Auto Technology. I just want to learn how to fix everyday cars and then look into something performance oriented! You got lucky and went straight to the performance market! Guy
  8. Here you go Terry.... Corzette's Video Corzette's Video #2 Guy
  9. Wow those look pretty darn good for a DIY job! I thought for sure after reading your first post that they werent going to turn out as good as you made it sound but I deffinetly have to give you props on a job well done! Keep the pics and info coming! Guy
  10. I have the smaller cabinet from HF and I love it. Although I wish now that I would have bought the bigger one. But for all the small parts it works great. I had to buy a small flurencent light from Menards for $5(that included a bulb too!) and I bolted that to the top of the cabinet on the inside. Works great. Although my glass is getting kind of foggy too so I will have to replace that soon. But after 2 years of having it... I think I got my $50(thats how much I paid 2 years ago) out of it! Guy
  11. My God!!!!! I want one! Nice video and PLEASE POST MORE!!! Heck I can even host them, just PM me and I will give you my email address. I have lots of space and bandwidth on my site. Guy
  12. The LS1 was not around in the early 90's You are probably looking at a TPI engine or maybe an LT1 if its a mid 90's Caprice. But that would have iron heads. Guy
  13. Hehe, I just fixed a truck yesterday at work that had a sudden no start/died while driving. Turns out that the moron who installed the remote start system ran the wire that goes to the coil right over the top of the engine and it melted on the passenger side exhaust manifold, causing the coil to ground out and shut the engine off because of no spark. Took me about 5 minutes to diagnose and fix! I agree with Maichor, check for loose connections with the ignition first. Maybe when you are messing with stuff under the hood you are moving a set of contacts an that is what is causing the intermitent no start? Guy
  14. I know I have read posts from another member who has a 4.3L in a Z. I cant remember the name though? Guy
  15. All I got to say is............. Guy
  16. Vortech heads arent worth $500. You should be able to pick up a set of those heads for like $250. Custom headers like you are describing are worth every penny, so dont take less than they are worth. I know I wouldnt sell my custom headers for anyless than it cost to make them! Guy
  17. You should be able to get a Haynes manual like I have from Auto Zone. Thats where I got mine. The only bad part is the wiring diagrams only go up to 82' for some reason? Even though the book is for 79-83? I would imagine the 82 is close enough for the starting system. I can't imagine that they changed that much from 82-83. Here is the starting sytem testing procedures from my Haynes manual...... Starting System Test for a 280ZX page 1 Starting System Test for a 280ZX page 2 I hope that will atleast get you pointed in the right direction. Guy
  18. Yeah I dont care for the G-nose either. I like the ZG flares but the G-nose has got to go! I started over with the game and bought a 350Z instead because I just couldnt win with the ZX. Now I have a supercharger and NOS on my Orange 350Z and boy does it haul! Along with the Fully adjustable suspension, tranny, and rear end it handles like a dream! If you want to win the 240ZG you just have to win all the "Z Club" races in the Japan area where you buy Japanese cars. Guy
  19. There aint no way in hell Im paying for anything from S&S. Their prices are just rediculous in my opinion. Not to mention the wiring harness that I bought from Darius(who bought it from S&S) wasnt exactly the greatest in quality.......I mean come on they had the 2 O2 sensors cross wired so that the left O2 controlled the right bank and vise versa! Yeah that took me while to figure out! I dont know exactly what I would do with this motor. I might try and talk a buddy of mine into putting it in his 85' Monte SS. Its better than the carb'd POS that he's got in there now! Guy
  20. A guy at work has a 6.0L truck motor that he wants to get rid of real bad. He only wants $500 for it. Thats for intake to oil pan with all the sensors on it. No harness though. And I havent seen the motor yet but it was pulled out of new Silverado and thats all I know. But I have a few question first..... 1. Does the LS1 intake bolt right up? 2. Is this an Alluminum block or Iron block engine? 3. Are the stock heads any good or should I look into some other heads? 4. Whats the compression ratio of these engines? Im thinking supercharger.... I dont know what I will do with the engine if I do buy it but for $500 it seems like a great deal! Guy
  21. I would be interested in this too if you find some part numbers for some nice mounts. I need to mount mine different because I kind of had it solid mounted which isnt a good thing for an alluminum radiator. Guy
  22. Yeah we know what cheered you up........post #10! My GF likes cars too but she loves old Vettes. That will most likely be my next project. An old Stingray with an LS1/T56. Of couse she will be helping with the funding of that project! Guy
  23. I just picked it up last night. I love the amount of new cars and nitrous! I had my 236HP 280ZX whoop'n up on some new cars! Of couse I was using nitrous set at 70HP! But I couldnt afford the stage 3 upgrade for the engine nor the fully adjustable tranny. It sucks that all you can bring over from GT3 is $100K! Oh well! Guy
  24. Jesus! I hope most of that is just grease and not bruising! Im like you though, I wont see a doctor until I have to! My girlfriends see's all the cuts and scrapes on my hands and arms and wonders how I dont get infections! I say its because I protect the cuts with "fresh grease" LOL! She doesnt think its as funny as I do! Guy
