  1. I'll take a vid soon. Did some more tuning tonight, and I must say it feels goooooood. Blew the IAC sensor out of the silicone coupler after the first couple runs, not surprising. Fixed that up with a bolt and washer, made a few more runs. I did about 50% throttle to 4500rpm or so, and it already feels quicker than the N/A motor at full tilt. If I'm calculating things properly, I think my wastegate may be... modified or not working properly. Supposedly I'm hitting around 10psi... and at only 50% throttle. I'm also getting what sounds like some pretty nasty compressor surge, also not surprising since I'm not running any kind of BOV. My roomate has a spare recirculating valve sitting around, so I may try to get one of those fabbed on before I do more tuning tomorrow. By the end of tomorrow the car should be pretty decently tuned, to the point of driving regularly again. I'm taking it easy on the high rpm and boost areas till I get a feel for things and get some 91 octane in the tank.
  2. I think that's the point of doing a custom standalone system... why would you ever stop? There's always another mod, or another few hp or mpg to tweak, another bit of timing to play with. With my N/A block, I stopped tuning when I got it where it would make small adjustments alternating between lean/rich every time I'd run a scan, but there's no reason I couldn't have kept dialing it in. I expect my new turbo block to keep me much busier with tuning.
  3. I've got a drivers side fender in decent condition, 20mi north of Salisaw. Send me a pm if you're close, I'll be there next weekend.
  4. I know MSA makes a block off plate for the mechanical fuel pump port that some heads have... But what about distributor block off plates for those of us running Edis, COP, etc?
  5. Did some tuning runs today, and it's coming along nicely. I got burnt out on open exhaust with my n/a motor. I'm running 2.5" back to a summit resonator ending in a 3" turbo bullet muffler. So far it sounds much better, and is a much more manageble volume.
  6. Just got these parts installed. As is obvious via this thread, it did indeed require some modification to work properly on my L28ET. Had to take about 1-2mm off the OD of the hub (using a L28E balancer). Might need to slot the bottom hole of the sensor bracket for better gap placement. Had to shave the sides of the bolt towers to get my fat VR sensor to fit between them. Other than that, it works beautifully, with no wobble or run-out. Yay!
  7. After I get the tune dialed in, add an intercooler, and up the boost on this turbo. So not for awhile lol.
  8. Turbo motor swap completed over a period of about 30 hours. Started tearing down Friday night around 3, and had it running last night around 8. I need to finish welding up the exhaust before I can do any tuning. Having the WBO2 about 1/4" from the end of the exhaust stream was useless. The idle was nice and stable though, and it seems like everything is going to work out. Also, my turbo oil feed is leaking a bit, so I need to track that down. I also need to block off the dizzy port and mech fuel pump port in the head. Other than the exhaust, and figuring out how to attach a cone filter to the turbo, all that's left after that is tuning. W00t. Here are some of the select pictures. Notice the brilliant use of a spare tranny, in place of a clutch alignment tool.
  9. Sup smokey I probably have 3-5 forums for each hobby.
  10. Those were taken on a Canon RebelXT - Sigma 10-20mm lens. Thanks for that lovely pic of me.... there were so many better ones you could've chosen lol.
  11. Whelp, Branson Z Fest is over, which means it's time for my turbo swap. From the previous list I still need to install my new CNC EDIS parts, put on the new tie rod ends and get aligned, and fix the leaky gas tank. Assuming I get my daily driver back up by tomorrow, i'll gather up the remaining tidbits I need and swap motors next weekend. Before then I need to: - Run by a shop and get a 02 bung and 2.5" 3 bolt exhaust flange - Get my hands on a 2.5" silicone piping coupler and clamps - Buy a new intake/exhaust manifold gasket - Buy a tap to relocate the IAT sensor into the intake manifold Everything else should be ready.
  12. 9.5's all around, or 9" front? Car's going going to be nice with a real paint job, you won't miss the roll on rustoleum?
  13. Beautiful, I might be doing a E55 swap soon, so this is good inspiration!
  14. Most factory cars use TTY bolts for internals, so I'm pretty sure (not 100%) the turbo ones will be as well. ARP studs, and any stud IIRC is not going to be TTY, so therefore won't get stretched, and therefore can be reused.
  15. Head bolts are torque to yield. If you restretch them you're going to risk breaking one, and I don't have to tell you why that's bad ARP head studs are reusable, convenient, and awesome.
  16. "It was awesome" Seriously? I missed the part where someone getting shot is "awesome".
  17. I decided to do the responsible thing and put off the turbo swap till my daily is back up, and after Branson. Instead I'm focusing on all the aesthetic improvements I've been putting off. - Mount and wire the new Autometer gauges that have been dangling (done). - Finish installing the power locks so i can get the door panels back on (in progress). - Swapping to some borrowed non-melted tail lights and putting the rear interior pieces back in. - Possibly chop the front springs to match the rear, as a temporary fix till coilovers. - Put in the new tie rod ends, and repack and torque the front wheel bearings, + alignment. - Fix my gas leakage issue when the tank is filled over half full. - Fix the melty wiring on my electric radiator fan, temporarily or wired into Megasquirt. - If time allows install the new CNC EDIS parts to hopefully help the EMI issue. - Touch up the paint job a bit, and temporarily put the fuel door back on.
  18. Finally got my Pallnet fuel rail and 440cc supra injectors installed tonight. The car LOVES them. Even though it needs some serious tuning to get back to normal, I can already tell a difference. Very smooth, pretty nice and torquey. Definitely cleaned up the engine bay too, looks much nicer now. Now once my turbo feed line parts come in I'll be all ready for the swap.
  19. Nevermind, bought everything for a AN line conversion from Pegasus Racing. I do think I need the flange that bolts to the turbo feed inlet, but I may just get that from ATPturbo along with a restrictor.
  20. Saw this a few days ago, surprisingly well done, and really catchy, haha. I love the lady at the end, excellent, lol.
  21. Mainly I'm needing the oil banjo bolt for the 280zxt turbo oiling system, but I'd like to get my hands on a turbo oil distribution block as well if available. Please quote me shipping to 72701, thanks!
  22. Yeah well, I do like these wheels better than the slotted mags I was running, but the eventual plan is flares and the Rota RB-R's in gun metal. By then the paint will be Midnight Blue or some variation. The black wheels were picked up as part of a bulk buy of parts, so I figured I'd put them to use for awhile.
  23. A long overdue update... finally put a little Z time in. Flat white rattle-can paint job, and added the 240z bumper. It's not perfect by any means, but at least the car is one color. Also switched to those black rims, and I'm currently in the process of installing the Autometer Sport Comp mech oil pressure and clt temp gauges.
  24. IMO they should've killed GMC. Basically just clones of all the Chevy stuff. Or they could've sold Buick to China
