  1. This one has been in my bookmarks for years waiting for my Z to hit the road!
  2. Looks like the 'Vette is getting a makeover for the 60th anniversary C7 model, and I like the new look! http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/01/13/2014-chevrolet-corvette-detroit-show-miracle/1823951/
  3. I'm with Dan on this one! Make sure all of the air is out of the cooling system.
  4. I searched for the weight on any L-series head to give a shipping estimate but couldn't find it. Thought I would include it here for future searchable reference. ROUGH measurements on an E88 head removed from a 240z. No cam cover, no studs. Weight: 53 lbs Dimensions: 30" x 12" x 10" Keywords: E31, E88, N42, N47, P90, P90A, P97, head, cylinder head, dimensions, dims, weight, heavy, pounds, lbs.
  5. That's why you run the car from a bank of batteries with a fairly large pack and the generator works at constant load to charge the batteries. Electively makes it load-buffered until the pack is depleted.
  6. Here's a stock 240z rods: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/104071-31l-stroker-rods-75-shipped/?hl=pistons Stock 280z pistons (the angles probably aren't great): http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/104252-flat-top-pistons-with-rods-60-shipped/?hl=pistons Look in the BST for some more pics of pistons/rods!

  8. I've always just used a tap to chase the threads and blown it out with compressed air like Stony has. I haven't ever bothered with a solvent.
  9. A word of caution with POR products: If you're using their system, use their system and not just the paint. There's a reason why they make cleaner and etch to go on before the paint. Also, if you plan to top-coat it you'll need to use their primer before applying anything over it. If you're looking into the powder coating option, inquire about leaded seams, as there are a couple on our cars.
  10. Anyone else having problems using BBcode? I can't get pics or links to embed. replace curly braces with brackets: {url=www.google.com}link{/url} Link {img}http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9p3n1vJmZ1rexr16o1_400.jpg{/img} edit: Looks like the image went, but the link doesn't want to work.
  11. Personally, I'd go with a chemical resistant semi-gloss powder coat. It holds up well to intermittent exposure to gasoline. If you clean the interior of the tank you can probably have it coated for less than the cost of your paint supplies...
  12. As a solution to touching air horns a pair of complementary flats seems to do pretty well. http://www.zcar.com/forum/10-70-83-tech-discussion-forum/115952-customers-6-itb-intake-progress-pictures.html Edit: What the hell is this new software's problem with BBcode?
  13. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the install! Keep me posted
  14. As many of you know, I offer bolt-in coilover kits in the vendor's section here. Business has been going well, and as a result I'm out of strut tubes to work with! I'm in need at least one set of 280z strut tubes in good condition. They'll need to be stripped completely down with the shock inserts and spindle pins removed. Additionally, the threads for the gland nuts need to be free of any imperfections. The front hubs and rear stub axles can either be intact or removed as long as there is no rust on any of the bearing surfaces. I do request that the units are shipped to me with the gland nuts installed and the castle nuts threaded onto the front spindles and wrapped in duct tape to protect all threads during shipping. Send me a PM here with what you have, photos, and an asking price including shipping to zip code 99337. I'll also entertain 240z units, but I have a line on several sets already. Thanks, Ryan
  15. How much too long are the spacers? Be sure to look inside your strut tube and verify that it is clean and there is nothing in the bottom. I've dealt with many strut installs on Z cars, and I am amazed at the amount of grease/dirt/rust/general crud that can collect in the bottom of these tubes over a 40+ year period.
  16. Is that sitting on your new coilovers Adam? Looking great!
  17. What part number struts do you have The front and rear struts by tokico are the same strut with a metal spacer welded under the rear one to make it the appropriate height. Is this spacer not attached?
  18. $100 with the oscillator is a crazy deal! Wonder what it would sell for. Seems like it would just be better to put it up on eBay rather than deal with his bidding game...
  19. I believe JohnC posted this info a few years back. I believe he also gave a rough chart for runner diameters too and where it would shift the power band. I'm super busy tonight, but I might be able to find it tomorrow. I know I had it when I was designing out an intake manifold a couple of years ago. edit: Some relevant info here http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/87578-custom-itb-intake-manifold-design/page__hl__intake
  20. They're opening for me as well with chrome, although it's Version 22.0.1229.94 m (not most current).
