  1. I'm sure you could use some manual valves and plumb it in the engine bay to do the same thing, just have to open it in winter and close it in summer. Mine is mounted inside the cabin close to the firewall, and if it has been a problem, I haven't noticed. My vintage air is cold enough.
  2. I put mine on the firewall up high on the inside passenger side, sort of where the old ac blower was, behind the whit bracket with all the plugs for the dash harness.
  3. Good idea, I'll try that first.
  4. I don't know. The ranger rubber appeared to be higher quality, as in slightly thicker rubber, and it was disintegrating like all the kias were that were almost the same age. I still haven't did the hose test yet, but can't see any light coming through when putting a spotlight behind it. I read a few people said the kias leaked, so i pulled a piece off the kia and went looking for one that was just slightly larger.
  5. no, all the body lines line up, and with no weatherstrip on the door it opens with a pinky. The precision i could barely pull the handle up. The ranger stuff takes 2 fingers. This is on a 78Z.
  6. I don't mind big flares, I just don't like when the wrap plastic stuff around the whole bottom of the car. Makes the Z looks cartoonish.
  7. Here's what it looks like. I tried to get the Kia but just about every one was bad. The Kia was made out of paper thin rubber. This was a little heavier duty. I looked through lots of cars and not very many cars come with a square corner anymore. There were a few elantras but all their weatherstripping was crumbling like the kia, and all were a couple years newer than the ranger. I suspect they use lower quality rubber from the looks of things.
  8. i just put 2001 ranger door seals on mine yesterday. after the precision weatherstrip finally caused my door handle to break off. It is still a little tight to close, but nowhere near as bad as the precision rubber was. At least now you can pull the door handle open with 1 finger, with the precision it felt like you were going to rip the door handles off(which it eventually did). I haven't had a chance to spray it with a hose yet to check for leaks, but put a spotlight on the inside and couldn't see and light anywhere. The seal looks like the jc whitney drawing on their website.
  9. I have no idea. This guy came up and randomly told me this, but I have no idea how much he knows. I know I don't know a whole lot, so just asking questions.
  10. Are you going to the autox in Hammond this weekend?
  11. I did a track day last weekend and the guy behind me came over after and said I was almost picking my rear inside tire off the ground in these couple tight fast Essex on the track. He told me I needed a bigger rear bar. I don't have any rear bar. It looks like in the video for the green hornet z that he is fast and his car looks to stay flat and I think I saw a rear bar on it when he was showing undercarriage shots. Would a rear bar help keep both tires more in contact with the ground without causing anything detrimental? And what was the reason Nissan decided to add one on to the Z?
  12. I would be more concerned about behind the flares where they are open. I would think it would look like a 4x4 truck with tires that stick out of the fenders, stuff would be all down the sides.
  13. Yeah, not a fan of the rocket bunny stuff, but like everything else they are doing. Saw the interior pieces on faceook and they are really nice. Can you actually drive the car on a real road with that kit? Seems like so much dirt and rocks will get thrown down the side of the car that it would kill the paint job quickly.
  14. Thanks, but I called a nissan dealer yesterday and they had 1 whole assembly in stock, so I just got that. You're right though, all the ones down here are disintegrating. I found 2 good ines in the JY, the one I had and gave the other to a friend of mine. I had been being very gentle with it for fear of cracking it, but when it fell off on track and was dangling in my rear view, I grabbed it too hard to try to shove it back up and my finger went through it, then it just crumbled into 50 pieces.
  15. Anyone who has either the mcmaster, jc whitney, kia, hyundai seals have any leaking problems now that they have been installed for a while?
  16. Thanks but those are all so old and brittle now that they're basically a ticking time bomb if you actually use it. If I change my mind I'll let you know. Hoping to g in something new.
  17. Has anyone used one of these, and can comment on the quality? My dome light fell out on a track day this weekend, and I pushed it up too hard and shattered the lens. I'm wondering what the quality of these are for $51. If they fit good and not feel flimsy. Does anyone else make new ones?
  18. Keith, what quicktime bellhousing did you use?
  19. If the 8.8 ford kit would have been out when I was doing my drivetrain, I would have went that route, as just about any ratio is available for that, and probably doesn't clunk.
  20. I already have the early q45 short nose. I was wondering if the diff was the same diff maybe since it's 6 bolts, with a different ratio. It would be perfect if it would bolt right in place of the other, but doubt it could be so simple.
  21. How does the pathfinder r200 compare with the early q45 r200? From that forum, sounds like both use the larger 6 bolt axles. I wonder if the pathfinder gears would work in the q45. I really would like around a 3.3ish ratio (I think).
  22. That's about 48/52 F/R. If I took everything out and had half a tank it would probably be 49/51.
