Intrestingly smaller Exhaust housing AR 48 Turbine Housing AR 60! 360 degree thrust bearing internal huge ( about 35 mm!!) waste gate that will be used as an Pop off valve by using a big head ex World rally Ford accumulator ( used in the same fashoin) or i will use it as waste gate, and leave the extarnal one to be, however the guy who built it said the use of an external one is 'nicer'and could reduce turbo lag between shifts slightly. me happy pics will follow !!! a small step for mankind, but a big one for this men The smaller AR on the exhaust side will give quick spool up and less lag, also the porche race cars went down on AR size when the got good IC's what i have, and lots of us use ( big NPR's etc).. just because the quicker spool, and suposivly cooler exhaust temp . The guy who built my turbo is working on his twin turbo L28 stroker (with forged s2000 pistons), and is very respected in World rally cross and F1( back in the 80's) turbo guy, He set up a respectable known company and worked closely with BEA and rayjay, so he knows his stuff.. Ill let you know what the findings are, is this a revolution smaller ar's on t3/t4's or would it be better suited for drivabillity and high speeds, and not as good for qauter miles? This set up is ensured to be at full boost at 2500 rpm and will maintian this easely upto 5500 the stock engine is not set up for much more evectivly anyway. however quick spool up was key ... Since Porche race cars and street cars, all went down on there AR's when the got to install the beter IC seemingly the exhaust temp drops Xander and i cant really make anything of that theory but note the turbine wheel is not stock either it has double scoops, and more than most wheels i have seen (not that i have seen that much but still what you see on ebay and here). I called the guy who made it last night, however he wasnt in, to try and get the specs, it is one that they used for f1 turbos, all very Funky. a smaller ar would make it to spool faster when i go for plain logic, but... Im very eager to find out if it indeed will work better, he advized this, and het knows turbos and the l28 so im not going agianst this yet, as he is the pro Ill keep you updated this might be a revolution. what ya think?

From what i read in 'how to modify your datsuan OHC engine' they even make close to 700 with the paul newman l28, though i would like the twin turbo V8 of his later car however those cars are extremly modified, on stock bottom ends 350 is kind of the durabillity limit right ?

its only 112 DKM not miles btw congrats on the positive license inspections !! and can you say l28ET i still have one that is and l28 p90 flat top... mooowhaaa or you could spoon thge engine you ar ebuilding in there and spoon the flat top combo in the z

Porsche 996 intercooler on ebay. Good Buy?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7930879481&rd=1 this looks like a nice item (flow Through whise) at 180 USD right now, but a IC could probabley be gotten cheaper from an NPR orso at a yard. From what i was told small trucks ( we have plenty in europe) mostly run better more durable IC's since they need to get more miliga, so looking at a truck yard ( no not perbuilts ) would be an option, and might be a cheap way to a good cooler or do as this guy http://www.zcarclub.com.au/ project/simon/simon.htm and cut down a core and weld ( or let someone) new endtanks, if you can find a friendly welder you might get away with a sixpack!! but this seems to fit ( though there are three models small Huge and HUGE search witch one fits best) these seem to be very good even in flow tests!!http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7930664256&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7930848317&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW or if you dont care for looks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7930971615&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW dunno if it fits not that good with inches well good luck agian ( sorry for the long post i got the vibe and started ebaying ) -
Porsche 996 intercooler on ebay. Good Buy?
frank280zx replied to Thumper's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
That 996 does not seem to be the best intercooler, it is prolly a reighman and or something sounding like that cooler, best block you can get has to be the Autocooler accoprding to a guy that knows a thing or two about torboeing a car, but it is also expensive. The plastic tanks are not your best bet, and also a flow through desing would be better, when you want to get an Porsche IC go with the 944!! they are really nifty and have agood flow through desing, and a autocooler block ( in some cases depends on model year and maybe market) but even whitout the autocooler (there are probably more cores that are very good!)block they have are semingly very good IC's happy hunting, but i would leave this be, contrary to a Z a porsche has no space, you can mount about everything. and i go with the point of flow, the bends on bastards IC are the same story, it is a restriction, so if you go for that cooler i would adapt the in and outlet to be less restrictive and providing a better flow trough.. But you have space, look on eaby and good luck. -
That gearbox is huge, and since i have one to spare i was thinking of swapping it into my zxt.. with the whole hybrid turbo (t3/4 set up) and my effort to reach 190 MPH (300KMH) i need ratios i know it aint easy but i have acces to a full machine shop! any input

MSnS Turbo Conversion Finally on the Road!
frank280zx replied to sims76's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Looking good man!! when you wrap the wiring i would use vulcanized ( dunno if it is called that in english) tape, it shrinks to it when heated, way better than conventional tape that just falls off and gets sticky OK Xander now you cant stay behind! -
You better have: A proffesional shop Great experiance with customizing A shitload of time on your hands Loads of energy and resourcefullness. cause in my opion it looks nice, i dont think this is very doable, even technical the vents would create some spacial problems under the hood to do this straight and good.... man i know from my fenderflares and tails.... good luck man when you really want to create something noone has, i advise you to go and look at existing cars, and try to mate that to your car by customizing... not loosing the 'visual balance' good luck man

r33 steering wheel adapted and in my s130!
frank280zx replied to frank280zx's topic in Body Kits & Paint
also i like to ad that is has sort of an OEM look, but is nice and spory, but not tacky like some aftermarket wheels ... best of all it is cheaper ( 26 dollar +S.H on ebay... not bad for a this unit i think!) -
I wanted a nice steering wheel that was leather and had better grip, and did not look as stationwagon as the stock 280zx unit : i needed to grind of teh hub and bolt on the stock one, but i kind of like to adapt stuff, it looks nice and like an OEM fit.. and it holds super i'll post pics of it installed later !!

well it is uber flimzy metal, so i bet an arc welder could would melt through when you put it to high.. But seriously... an arc welder might not give the cleanest welds, but when you cut out to original handle indent, and then spotweld ( otherwhise it wil warp for sure with an arcwelder i think) a metal plate to the back of the door you wil need a litlle bondo and voila a good tight fit, the best way would be to use no bondo and weld it inplace, but that needs a good mig welder to do ( read $ unless you know a shop that does it for a sixpack ) I go with the arcwelder keep us updated !

Fiberglass fenders any negative trade offs?
frank280zx replied to Thumper's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Dan Juday just covered it IMHO... mostly you can see if a 'plastic' car has been painted in the summer or winter cuase of teh changes in tempreture.. a winter painted car wont look perfect in summer and vise versa.. i go with steel !
