  1. Great, I haven't seen the link and fabricated some. I believe they will work well...lets see, a month and out in the street again. The tape is just there so I don't put metal on metal for vibration purposes. Dayz
  2. I have tried, even with putting the pulley I get 1 thread to lock it. Is this normal? Do you have any picture of the pulley on the shaft? Thanks Dayz
  3. Here are the pics for more understanding. 1- Pulley depth in the Maxima Alternator. The 240z Alternatoris flat. 2- Pulley ID is exactly the same (240z and the maxima one) 240z Maxima 3- The difference in height in the pulley. this is my problem. If I just put a bushing behind the pulley, 1/8 of the pulley will be on the shaft, and no space to bolt it. Hope this will be easy ! Where can I find another pulley? Thanks Dayz
  4. Guys, I am having problem with swapping the pulleys between a Maxima alternator and a 240z one. I have search the post related to this and found that a lot of guys have had problem with pulleys with no follow-up. I have many Hitachi alternator and all the mounts fits on the L6 block. Now, when you take the pulley out which is just held by a bolt, no keyway, the pulley shaft goes into the alternator where has the 240 alternator pulley isn't deep enough. Hope this all make sense. What have you guys done, bought a new pulley, use a bushing inside the pulley... I am lost here, I must a turned off my engineering button this friday night. I know some of you have done it, but how? Thanks Dayz
  5. Check your spark plug - if they fire they are good. After move on to the fuel system: 1- Have you checked the pressure in the system, too high? Vaccuum leak the the PR? 2- Dirty injectors... 3- MAS Dayz
  6. HLS30-08077 Thanks for your answer, I haven't seen the thread and moved on. Guess what, I am back there now, Lol. I was wondering what type of crimping tool do you need to close these connectors? Do you have any more, size. and... Or just the one for the Headlight wiring? I am doing a custom job on the wiring and need many style and size in small quantities. Thanks Dayz
  7. Thanks guys, Moly or cast ring would be find I guess. This one is just a stock engine, nothing very fancy. Dayz

    Carpet replacement

Sorry guys, not fats enough...work, house, business are keeping me bus. I will take some pictures and finish my right-up. Dayz
  9. An old mechanic once told me, loose the nut, and hammer the metal piece (not the tie-rod) same goes for Ball joint. Your paint might take a hit, but it will work and you can reuse them. Don't put grease either in them, they will start turning and you are in a new set of problem Dayz
  10. Guys, I am trying to find a way to mount speakers in the rear, as the original one but don't have the holder/mount. Any pictures? I need to make something I guess. Info would be great, Thanks Dayz
  11. Braap, You are right. Haynes has a general wiring, where 70-71 don't seem to have the same colors. I have almost all of them and nothing is perfect...From time to time it might be me, but I guess the more you have doesn't seem to hurt. Braap, if you know where I can have the whole 70 and 71 Wiring, that would be awesome. Thanks Dayz
  12. There are some Jags mechanic on this site. I was thinking about the XJR for myself, with the gas prices I am seriously reconsidering. They are reliable, when something break, you will pay more money for the parts. Steering, throttle body are the main things. There is also the engine, Nicosil or something , search about it, they seem to need a rebuilt a some point. The car is a great looking car. Send pics if you get one, Dayz
  13. Sorry to hear that careless, Let me know if I can do anything. What is the reason you have to let it go? Dayz
  14. Transmission is a direct bolt in, just re-use the transmission mount/crossmember (there are 2 styles). I didn't you had to open-up the shifter hole but you must be right. Then use 72 driveshaft, front diff mount and rear mustache bar, very easy and straightforward swap. The wheelbase doesn't change from 70-78 Zcars, just the angle of the halfshaft. Get under that car and start disassembling, you will understand.
  15. I believe you should be fine. I have about 50sq foot covered in carpet an it covers everything in carpet and Vinil from the original. Dayz
  16. Auto X From what I have seen: Series I is 70-71 Series 2 is 72- very beginning of 74 Series 3 is 74-78 For your diff mod, You will need the driveshaft, the mustache bar and the front diff mount from your 72. Not sure if you need the front mount. The remaining is the same from what I recall. I have done it

    Carpet replacement

Yeah, I will update it as soon as I am finished...the carpet that is.
  18. I wanted to let some of you know what I did with the carpet, as a replacement. I didn't want to buy a new carpet already made for 3 reason: - The quality fit (everyone says it never fits well); - The fact that I wanted the whole floor to be covered in carpet (no vinyl) - the risk to pay for not getting what I expected. I decided to buy carpet in a roll and make it myself...how hard could it be. Parts - 4 yard x 60" of carpet (this will cover the whole car) I choose to go with the original theme and get loop pile. I choose the one that are in the New Chrysler 300 80$ Cdn. - Insulation, Get what you need...Depending on where you want to put it. Steps 1- For the back part Use your old carpet as a template and cut a little bigger, trim it while to test fit it. 2- Floor Width of the car for the carpet is 80", length can be used with 60" - Cut it square - Measure a center line, this have to be precise since you want the back of your carpet to follow the back the floor where it meets the vertical piece. Make sure it is square, it will make a nicer job. - Now, starting from the back, on the tunnel, measure the first guide. I have used the square block where you bolt the center console. Find the second one until the tunnel becomes bigger. (Front seat bracket) - Cut your seat bracket ... And go from there. - At this point you will have minimal cut and will have to sew it together. And put a trim at the edge of the carpet to make it nicer. I will post the following steps later on. Any advice, please share, that was my way, there are probably better ways.
  19. As bhines said; - For aluminum, I use my wood bandsaw with a wood blade. Always worked great, never worked with above 1/4". - For Metal, I use the bi-metal blade from HF or anywhere else, they seem to last a lot longer than the cheap 9$ blade. Which is a single row of teeth. My 0.02$ Dayz
  20. I agree with DavyZ, old office cabinet works nice. Nowadays, they make things flimsier. For my past Garage, I have gotten an old kitchen from a guy down the street, I took all the Cabinet and have put them on the wall, worked great. If you want something mobile, find yourself an old office cabinet as DavyZ said, they are sturdier.
  21. I believe the Q45 transmission has the same yoke as the Z32. Search a little, you will find it. You can fins one of those in the JY.
  22. I need the rebuild kit for my 240sx calipers, we are not allowed to buy them in Canada, any place you know in the US? Thanks Dayz
  23. I need some bracket for my rear brake conversion. Anyone else selling rear bracket except Ross? Didn't someone produced a ton of them for resale on this site? Can't find the thread anymore. Thanks Guys Dayz
  24. Nope, search for Z31 CV Conversion, lots of good info. The way I see it, you do the conversion with a R200 LSD or not and you put the internal from a q45, J30, 240sx that is LSD. Now you got yourself a LSD R200. I believe that R200 aren't the same after 84, and this conversion applies to diffs after 84, don't quote me on this. Dayz
