Amazing! At least I'm using all of the tools in my garage properly. Hahaha!

If you are talking about S30 struts and springs, the rear struts would not fit in the front, since they are longer (or should have a spacer attached). So, it shouldn't be the strut. Have you tried driving around with it yet? It could be that they just need a trip around the block to settle in.

1972 240z SBC V8 and complete restoration project
z2go replied to z2go's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Thanks Tim! Just talked to my body guy today, he should have the jams and engine bay in paint by the end of next week. The whole car should be painted and ready for me to get it by mid October. Can't wait! -
What is/should be swappable from my 78 280 to my 71 240?
z2go replied to Kegworth's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Some things will swap over, and are even considered upgrades, but some things are not a direct swap, depending on the year. To ask for a comprehensive list is a little much. Try searching around for 240z upgrades using 280 parts. There's a lot of information in the forum regarding that. -
Your best bet is to just fork out the $20 to run a check.

Hell yes, I would file a claim! It sucks that the lady was nice, as that makes it harder to file a claim and feel nice yourself... but the reality is, she didn't pay close enough attention, and ran into you. If the car was a beater, and you had other damage otherwise, yea, it's not terrible. However, it is still damage, and personally, it would bother me. It really sucks too, because when they go to respray the bumper, the paint will be close, but it is near impossible to get the paint to lay the same as original, so it will be slightly different.

Not to burst your bubble, but I think that happens a lot more often than every 823 years.

Be careful, every time that car ends up in a post, the post ends up in the tool shed. Search the tool shed to find out why.

Like the other guys said, you don't really want to put a transmission intended for an L6 on a V8. I think there used to be something made by Scarab, but has long since gone away. There are a few options much better suited for the 350 conversion, such as the Camaro T5 or T56.

1972 240z SBC V8 and complete restoration project
z2go replied to z2go's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Test fit the motor. Looks like it has to go in separate from the transmission, but otherwise clearance should be fine everywhere. Had to make sure the steering linkage was good with the headers, and it fits, as advertised. I was hoping that the motor's weight would compress the springs enough to get a good idea of if the front bumper needs trimming, but I am at a loss. It compressed it maybe within six inches of ride height, so I'm still left wondering. -
In the process of test fitting the MSA type III front bumper/air dam (1st gen), I'm having trouble figuring out if I will need to trim the inside corner down to make clearance for when the wheels turn inward. The are of concern is the front of the wheel well, where the kit curves back inward to complete the curve of the stock well. Has anyone had any trouble with this, and is trimming of the inside bottom of the air dam's well necessary? My car is stripped currently, so I cannot get the struts compressed fully to see where it will sit in the wheel well. Right now, the car is at least 6 inches higher than ride height, and because of the angles, hits the edge of the air dam when the wheel is turned inward.

Small update. More body work has been completed, and test fit of the MSA front bumper. It is going to need a lot of work. Custom brackets will be be made to mount it, and lots of fiberglass work to get the lines right. Also, hood scoops are installed and the hood is near ready. -
Holy crap, Phil. It looks like you've got a lot of work ahead! What is the plan for them? Get them going and resell?

I have the same issue, with an 89 WC T5. It's hard to search anything T5 related, because you can't use any search term that is less than three characters, so I feel your pain. From what I have read, you have to open the tranny up like you would if you were changing the drive gear, as it is an electronic sensor in place, and replace it with a drive gear and the appropriate driven gear. I have not, however, seen anyone who has done this, or if it's even easy (enough) or cost effective. So, I'm interested too!

No problem, DAW. Papa Smurf - I believe I read that somewhere in the rules or guidelines regarding donations.

Well, it is, to a degree. I see far less 350z's and way less 370z's, and I'm usually looking for them to some degree. I don't know, does anyone have any idea of actual production numbers? It seems to me that far more Mustangs are on the road than any other sportscar.

1972 240z SBC V8 and complete restoration project
z2go replied to z2go's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Saturday saw more progress with the car, I made a deal with my body guy to come work on the rear end 'shaving' project to help mitigate the costs. We got it done in about 5 hours, not too bad. Had to cut out precision metal pieces for the bumper recesses, as not to mess with the structural integrity of the design. We also cut out the bumper brackets, and to reinforce, added some cold round steel along the inside edge and reinforced with flat bar. I don't think it will interfere with the fuel tank, but it's been a while, so I have yet to see. If it does, should be a minor modification. I am also coming close to needing to decide on the color, and this is what I have so far. It's GM Sunburst Orange. I've seen several custom cars with it, as well as new production Chevy's. At first I thought it had too much red, but it has grown on me. Tell me what you guys think. -
On the main page, down the right side near the bottom is the donation link. I think the default is $20, but you can change to whatever you like (I think there is a minimum, though). It is year to date, as well.
-
When did you donate? The donation is good for a year, after that, your status changes back.

I have yet to check out the new V6 Mustang, but as you guys say, it seems like a nice package. However, my only gripe about the Mustang is that... well... they are everywhere. To me, a sportscar should stand out, and the Mustang does not do that. When they went to the new body style, I really liked it, until I saw it everywhere. Every other car in the parking lot was a new Mustang. Not even a V8 (when the V8 was the only viable sportscar option, mind you), just a wimpy, rental car style V6. It has become the American 'Honda Civic'. Granted, they must be doing something right to sell so many, but it just screams BORING to me. DISCLAIMER: Not trying to pick a fight, I own an F-150 and love it, I'm not a Ford hater!

+1 to the awesomeness of the aircraft. I'm stationed at Beale, and only wish I were here when they were operational. I do see the static display every day on base, it is well maintained.

You are right, I am looking for things to be wrong. Such as that 2" long gouge. And the lack of any pictures of under the hood. Who would ever want to see under the hood of a car they are about to spend 10k on? That just makes no sense.
-
Why does the odometer look like it says 90,8279 instead of 8279 miles? And why did he not add any pictures of the engine compartment...? Something fishy about this car.

Richard, Sent you an email! Bahraini- restoration, to me, includes restoring the finish of the lenses, replacing seals, bulbs, polishing, etc.

It DEFINITELY is a cable.
