  1. Fits is pretty crappy when compared with the stock metal hood. I have close to a 1/2" gap along the top where the hood meets the cowl. Lots of tiny "pin holes" where there were air pockets when laying the glass. I got the bolt on hood and the flanges that bolt to the stock hinges were extremely weak. I added some additional bracing and metal to strengthen them but need to redo it. I suppose I got what i paid for since it was only $200+shipping, but I would have gladly paid $100 more for a higher quality product. If i remember right, there didn't appear to be any sort of gelcoat. It was bare fiberglass that was just sanded and then a coat of primer put over it. I didn't realize just how bad the fit was until I bolted on my stock metal hood and saw how much better it fit. Member "long240project" bought the cowl hood and said he spent another $700 on body work to get it fitting right/mounted. that thread is here.... http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/87587-1972-240-388cid-small-block/
  2. johnc's hood is probably your best bet as far as a quality piece. http://www.betamotorsports.com/products/products.php?cat=4 I have a stock style fiberglass hood from another company called Unlimited products and if their cowl hood is anything like the stock one (which I hear it is) the quality is absolute crap. I've actually got a super victor on my car and squeezed the world's tiniest air filter on it but I think your engine is in the scarab position, correct?
  3. As far as I know those only work with the engine in the MSA position and possibly the Scarab position. They will not work with the JTR kit in the set back position. On that note, rsicard, what position is your engine in?
  4. It's copyrighted. Just buy the JTR book. If you don't have the resources to get the book, you may rethink doing a swap as it can get pricey quickly. Our cars have so few vendors, so support the ones that are available to us.
  5. Those are the 1.75" headers for the LSx based engines, not the first gen small block. It appears the original poster is looking for them for the first gen SBC.
  6. Thanks for the kudos, tightman1234. Here is an updated pic of my rear sectioned strut with the adjustable coilover installed. I'm actually using a 225lb 9" spring because I bought the springs second hand off of ebay. I don't believe I have experienced any coil bind as of yet but I don't know if I would know it, if I was. But The price was right for the time being. My total cost for the coilovers were as follows: Coilover sleeves and perches $135 Ebay Springs $60 so total costs were $195 but I sold my old tokico springs for $120 so my net cost was only $75. and a pic of my rear quarter panel fully grinded down. no more of those jagged edges like pictured earlier. I've been driving on the coilovers for a little over a month now and love it. There is no way I would have been able to fit these yokohama's other wise. I still need to section the front struts and put in mr2 inserts when funds allow it though and then my suspension mods will be done ..... for now.
  7. and I thought my doors had poor fitment... eek
  8. lol. silver Z's have been multiplying in DFW. I haven't seen a charcoal/grey one yet though so I think you'll be safe with that color. haha mchong, Did you paint it the original silver color? Glad to hear you managed to settle with the insurance company.
  9. I did this recently to an intake I have for sale. I did it in a similar way but just ordered the gasket for a 240sx from the autoparts store(cost $1) and I used an air powered die grinder with a couple different carbide bits. I did another one a few years ago and used a dremel, and now I highly recommend a die grinder with a carbide bit if one is available to you.
  10. Good find! My hinge is pretty sloppy and I've been looking for a fix. Does this only work for the upper hinge or will it work on the lower one as well? This is the right part, correct? http://store03.prostores.com/servlet/wagenwerks/the-704/Door-Hinge-PIN-VW/Detail
  11. According to posts 2 & 3 in the following thread, the halfshaft will bolt up to the 280z companion flange. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/20513-should-i-replace-by-240-stub-axles/page__p__151820__hl__stub%20axle%20upgrade__fromsearch__1entry151820
  12. Voted. I see the "beauty" in older cars, but I can appreciate the "beauty" of newer cars just as well.
  13. I don't discriminate. I like pretty much anything with wheels and an engine.
  14. I'm just looking for the plastic piece that holds the sunvisors in place that mounts behind the rear view mirror. I assume they are the same for all S30 Z cars. Found a pic of one below....
  15. whoops..... I'm pretty sure I sent the wrong one. I'll send out the other one tomorrow morning. You'll just have a spare driver's side one. lol For future searches, it appears the driver's side r200 stub is shorter than the passenger side stub. Thanks for the heads up cockerstar.
  16. FYI... vinyl wraps are just about as expensive as a pretty decent paint job.
  17. It's a Nissan color called Smoke. The code should be K11. It's on newer Nissans like the Titan, Altima, etc...
  18. Everytime I see a nicely done Red 240 I want one more and more. Great lookins car dtsnlvrs.
  19. 245/45/17 Yokohama es100 The yokohamas are about 3/4" wider than the kumho 245/45/17 that I had on previously. I had to cut the fender lips(1/4") in the rear and installed coilovers, while I was at it, to get them to fit with no rubbing. The kumhos were on stock perches and stock fender lips though.
  20. THREAD REVIVAL... BUMP updated my rear... painted the taillight bezel, new tires, lowered on coilovers now.
  21. found the pic here... http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/74648-na-with-straight-pipes/page__hl__center%20exit%20exhaust%20gas%20tank there are also a couple on page two that are attachments and appear broken but click on them and they will show up. Dan juday also did something similar but actually had the exhaust come out of the rear lower valence with twin small gas tanks on either side of the mufflers in the center. one more here... http://bringatrailer.com/2008/12/16/authentic-bob-sharp-75-datsun-imsa-gtu-z-car/
