  1. replace the ignition transistor with a stock one, or rewire the 84-89 300zx ign transistor to work with it, pretty easy. i would do the 300zx, as that ign transistor on s130 is 100.00 or so.
  2. /speed signal for what? do you mean speedometer cable
  3. Ive had ok luck with msa, for the most part i got all my goodies pretty quick. I think they get their engines from ATK and mark them up. ATK is couple hundred dollars less. for a newly rebuilt engine 1795 isnt bad, IF the pistons are new too, which i doubt. L motor is the easiest import engine ive ever dealt with. Would you rebuilding your own engine or have someone else do it for you, the numbers will be very different. For example, rebello charges about 2900 for a stock rebuild with a superior balancing job-which isnt bad to start with. another plus with them is that they work with L motors ALOT, while some engine shops do not have a lot of experience with them and most dont have a torque plate for the L6 engine.
  4. nismo sells this piece that actually connects the tc rods to each other. dont know if that would help in s130 case though.
  5. i think its related to having none of the idle things on my manifold, or emissions stuff, but i can only get mine to idle strong at 900 lowest, anything lower than that i have to hold the gas down until engine warms up a little.
  6. your stock tps should work.
  7. if its a quaife, its cheap, and im not joking. but i would think seller would state that though.
  8. do a rear main seal while youre there. you always know when my two buddies and i were parked next to each other, we leak oil from the same spot!
  9. 550 isnt bad from rebello for the head, since they do specialize in z heads, and make great power out of the L motor in general. 550 could also go to extruding out the exhaust manifold and porting out the intake, entry to head is important too!
  10. 75-6 tank will bolt straight up, if you get the straps off the 75-6 car. reason is that the tank a little bigger, and deeper due to the baffling. filler hose bolts straight up, and less vent hoses.
  11. ive been using a stanza/240sx tps forever now, with the extra pins for the variable load. the three pin that goes on that matches the original tps pin is what i use for eccs harness. The black connector off the tps is all you need for eccs, effectively making it a TVS-on off switch. the grey pin connector is what gives signal to variable load. since my ecu knows nothing about that load signal, i connected it directly to the afr, and the box reads load, while eccs gets on and off. i have the wiring for the load sensing written down in the garage somewhere, its pretty easy. now i have two in one tps and tvs. I drove it today around the block a few times, it goes from lean idle to a rich(factory curve) at the drop of a hat, its almost funny. It is kinda fun, I would like to get it on a dyno again to see what I can do for wot, which wont be anything more than I could get on these injectors, but I figure tuning it like this will get me a better understanding of it before I start installing the next round of upgrades.
  12. that front spoiler is HOT! nice photos, that one looks smoother than that red one to me. im definitely hooking up a 240sx as a daily. best bang for the buck in a import rwd ive seen yet. lots of options for suspension and power. plus I want a sileighty conversion with rb power, and a chassis that will take 18x10 five lug wheels under the stock rear fenders!!!!
  13. hksusa.com one hard fact to remember, 250rwhp on stock efi seems to be the limit and that is an earned, tuned one. injector size is limiting factor, after all the tuning. you dont need much to get 300hp,
  14. . My car is very responsive off boost, and I have a stage V turbine wheel. Of course I have 87mm flat tops. My money says its the fuel pump, not the injectors or ecu. what is your comp ratio with the flattops Lockjaw?? my next L motor wants around 8.5, that what shes screamin.
  15. afr is stupid easy to wire up i think. I got the whole deal locally through a local guy posting on mkiv.com, traded him some turbo stuff and cash and got a super afr, autometer egt and a/f (both used but in good shape) I wired the sucker up in forty five minutes eating lunch!!!!!!! not bad at all to hook up, i didnt get the feeling like if i did something wrong my car would blow up or anything. And so far so good, idle rich and lean works well. thats all ive tried so far. im running stock cc injector so nothing crazy i guess. ive tuned idle a bit and it was ok. weather too unpredictable to try anything else soon. spent 155 plus parts so about 300 total and got a new afr out of it, its pretty cool and its remarkably user friendly for jspec. and you can find some on craigslist every now and again. efi setup is 81 harness with 83 ecu, distributor, afm. should be the same for all of them, wiring wise. havent tried boost on it yet because i cant. car is deadly in the rain, anything more than 1/2 throttle will pin tach to 6500 or so in a blink, so she stays in the garage.
  16. if you can find the infamous scarab bellhousing, you can use a stock datsun slave cylinder. i ran a m21 in my old v8z, best tranny ever made Afaik, nothing i could do would get it to stop working, nothing. blew my first engine before that trans, blew my first mustache bar before it, blew halfshaft, mounts. only two constants---r200 didnt go and the m21 wouldnt stop rockin. tilton master cylinder and a stock datsun slave, modded to be adjustable and used corvette clutch fork to secure adjustments, worked well.
  17. thats the wastegate actuator, it could be broken somehow, causing the pov to vent. it should be secured to the turbo by two bolts on comp housing and a clip on the arm, make sure vacum lines to it are intact, sounds like youre overboosting and the pov is venting.
  18. either way you make the power, you make the power i guess. I just like how the higher cr engine drives off boost and its transient response characteristics alot more. Ive been at different levels of boost and hp throughout the year now, and the limit on my setup is not the amount of boost for me, but the age of my turbo that stops me from really trying it. Ive run 15psi a couple nights in a row on a jpipe, but now im intercooled and im just as fast as that 15psi at like 12psi . Car is in drydock now and wont be doing much for a few months, I did some idle and low rpm tuning on s-afr, but besides that, she gets to chill.
  19. I concur. Pick your madness, and go with it. My 327z would still probably run my L28et, but I get more kicks out of the bells and whistles of the turbo swap.
  20. its not the stock system thats stopping anyone from 250rwhp. my good friend pulled 260rwhp@10psi with a flattop/p90 engine@18btdc and stock injectors with a small hybrid turbo, and he keeps the dyno slips in his glovebox. this is stock system with a great intercooler, efficiently routed piping(shortest route possible on tb side) 2.5 press bent exhaust, 55mm tb, great injectors(which are in my car now), and not much else except exceptional tuning and no shortcuts. p90 is shaved and he runs close to 9-1 static cr, and he drives his car HARD. dont know how much more he does make with bumped up cr and better turbo, but i know he makes it reliably. think he tried one pull at 13psi and made close to 300rwhp, but leaned out BAD at 4400. isnt tysons car an auto? 191 rwhp through a auto, sounds like closer to 230crankhp or so, extra driveline loss thru auto. starion intercooler? hmmmm?
  21. i just think its easier to make power with a turbo, in general.

    whoa.

the helmet looked in no way to be a dot helment, looked like a hardhat or something.

    whoa.

oh yes. i got over to him, he was a soldier, he almost jumped to his feet, wiped himself off, and almost started up the bike and left. i asked him if he needed a ride, he said no, and i took off.
  24. been on both sides of the fence, 2.8t is more fun to me, all power mods go straight to the ground, and i can get tranmissions cheap!!!
  25. fl327

    whoa.

I guess it really is winter time. I was on my way to the san mateo bridge, and on my left (freeway) doing about 70-80 and accelerating hard is this really funky looking motorcycle, it looked like a dirt bike. He is like 30ft away from me, and its a little wet outside, not raining, butwet. He pulls away from me (no racing for me in this weather) and starts fishtailing really really bad(sounded like he was downshifting or something). At this point i have slowed down to get ready to get out of the guys way if he cant catch it. Now he is about 200ft away from me in the fast lane, and the bike dumps on him doing about 80mph, sending the bike into the wall, and the rider into the emergency lane and tumbling, and his helment flies across traffic. No motorcycles for me, that looked so painful. I saw the guy get whipped off his bike, hit the ground, and his helmment fly off his head and bounce down the street. whoa.
