i need your guy's advice: i need to toast a turbo supra
fl327 replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
ive never heard of that swap before, but i did own an 85 mr2 for quite a while, slowest thing on earth, but man it would do ferrari style doughnuts like it wasnt nothing. it would not be easy, but it would be fast as heck -
Is there a 'cheap' way to up fuel pressure a couple psi?
fl327 replied to a topic in Turbo / Supercharger
on a properly operating turbo efi setup with the stock turbo, an intercooler, and 10psi, there is no need to bump fuel pressure. i would get a hot fuel pump just because. i run a bosch porsche 944 unit, run off a relay with 10ga wire, and an adjustable regulator. ive run 10psi with stock fuel pressure, and i often bump the fuel pressure to 50psi or so at the track with a splash of race gas, dont know if it does anything but its hangin tough, hangin tough. i dont even think i need the regulator, but it looks nice and has a guage, so it stays. -
i need your guy's advice: i need to toast a turbo supra

any of the swap options will provide you enough power to beat the supra, if he stays pretty close to stock. if he goes t4, super afc, fuel cut defencer, and some more tricks, he will be a force to be reckoned with, when theres a turbo-Theres a way. those cars have a stock lsd, 3.70 or so rear gearing, and a good geared transmission, and they put the power down nicely. im not scared of them or anything, but those cars can be fast. which ever swap you do depends on what you like more. the turbo guys generally like turbocharging things. the fact that an l28et drops into an early z like butter doesnt hurt this either. you will probably find that most of the people on this board that post in the turbo section have had various other turbo cars before, and show a background of tweaking a lot of cars and stuffing boost. I like boost myself, its like superman. One minute youre this nice japanese sports car, the next minute, youre a ragin animal making all kinds of whistling, whooshing, whining, and sneezing noise. Its a symphony of chaos that I love. Or you will find some of the L28et guys have had really pumped up NA L6s and sought the alternative, slightly more modern approach to making an L motor powered car faster-YOOST( theres also the options of swapping in other japanese or domestic turbo engines into the mix as well, ANY OF THE CURRENT HOT JDM SWAP ENGINES (RB, SR, 20B, 2JZ) WILL ROAST THE SUPRA LIKE ITS STANDING STILL-$$$$ though The v8 crowd generally like v8 cars, and z cars, and its like the old peanut butter cups commercials, where you got the guy eating peanut butter and the girl eating a chocolate bar, and they bump into each other and mix. i had a v8z for years, and left the street racing scene as the king, hands down, KING, KING! (sorry) its a fun swap, but to do it right will cost as much as the above, and entails more work to the rear suspension of the car due to the crazy low end torque factor. v8s are cheaper to build and easy to build as well, but overdrive trannys cost an arm and a leg. most of the v8 z guys have backgrounds in working with v8s as well, myself included, and in the end, no matter how you wanna go fast----IT COSTS TO BE THE BOSS. -
i believe so. it has a lead for ground like how the 280zxt transistor grounds to the bracket. are you going to use the coil too? im interested in how it comes out, i have a bunch of 300zx coils and transistors that ive been too chicken to try out, a writeup would be great!

i hope you have a 4.375, that would even us all up! thanx again jersey-for making 280s feel real fat....

rb25 is rear wheel drive rb26 is all wheel drive trannys are interchangable rb25 trans is the one you want to run in a z rb25 is single turbo dohc 2.5 liter 250rwhp rb26 twin turbo 2.6 it says 276 but you know they are lying, its way more. all wheel trans wont work without reengineering the whole suspension.

-
carts are supposed to have more power this time around, so here we go. were going tuesday night, come out and lets run em!
-
yeah, the price isnt bad considering i was out of commission after one 30 minute session. would be fun, anyways we are going back next week for more racing, ill clall up dale the day we go, maybe we can set something up, remember, rubbing is racing!
-
see if they will give him the x member attached, its worth asking
-
how about this one, get the front clip, pull the motor trans and the xmember for the motor out at the same time, hoist it up, and see where that would fall or hit, im thinking its too wide, trim it a bit to the point where all you would need is some box steel mounts to the framerails, triangulate them to the firewall or whatever, or you can triangulate them to the original z x member. could be done in a day if you ahve welder, sawzall, diegrinder, drill, bolts, and many people to help. just an idea...

Modern Motorsports rear disks update
fl327 replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
they wont fit with nissan factorywheels should fit behind enkei or other 0 offset 15 x7 rim -
problem with that engine is liimited output, and only automatic trans available, r200 rear would be fine, shoot the r180 would even be ok for a while. no fancy engines without boost for me though.

if we could get 5k together, they will let you run a 24hour leman session and throw a party sleepover deal in there!!!

ime, its been consistent, 280z cars dont stink of exhaust like a 240, even one that i had that had terminal hatch cancer, maybe its got improved sealing in the tailights? i havent touched a thing in the hatch area on any 280z, and its been healthy air for me. all three 240z cars ive had stank terribly from the rear of the car. one cheapo solution ive seen is a turn down off the muffler, but it looks nasty to me. also, ive tried the long tip manuever too, no dice. my buddy has also tried to mount his exhaust out the side of his car, he cut out a rectangle shaped hole in the rear lower panel of his car, and had a rect tip come out there, no help there either, matter of fact, when hes stopped at a light, the exhaust comes in real tough through the drivers side. i cant take the fumes too long, i start getting really nauseous if i were to pick up this 70z ive been looking at, im attacking the rear area with a vengence, and sealing everything triple tough.
-
man those cars are just beautiful. im taking measurements on a tt supra driveline next week, doing my homework on them right now, a 100k supra tt just dynoed 300rwhp bone stock@10psi at my buddys dyno!!!
-
spontaneous stalling is a sign that the ignition transistor is shot. fuel filter ok?
-
were goin next week, ill call you up and see if you wanna go, were trying to do the sprint again.
-
man what a blast!! now i know why the msa show always has this karting event, its so frekin fun. went to speedring in santa clara, 16 of my buddies and i went and raced the sprint, 30minutes of lap time. it was nuts, since more than half the field was my boys and we were all going heads up. we were all going for the drifts and all that stuff man, i got caught slippin a bunch of times and got bumped out of turns, bumped a few people out of turns, came in tighter than the next man and slid in under him/her on a sharp one and bumped em on the way out, it was pretty cool, and very tiring. now i have all these random bruises on my ankle and shoulder, i know a few are from hitting other cars, and some are just plain mysterious. anyways it was great, were going back next week for sure!!!
-
for now, a trick ive heard people do is roll around with both windows rolled down, that gets the funk out faster.
-
240's are frekin notorious for the stench. it only gets worse when you add cylinders too. my 280 dont stink at all, and my hatch seal is negatory. so far so good, 3" mandrel. hatch seals, firewall-i would seal it off and use a quality sound deadener regardless if its the source or not, dont let people tell you its as good as dynamat when they cant prove it. silicone around the tailight seals is good idea, and on my 240z, i sealed the area behind the pillars, where teh "Z" badge is, and did a weatherstrip on the hatch, changed out every fuel hose back there, and still got fumes!!!!!! if it gets to that point, it could also be corroded stuff in the filler tube to the tank as well. every 240 i have ever been in stank like exhaust so much your clothes smell after you get out, only 240z for me has to be a 70, the only year i will even put up with the stench. to this date, ive had four 280z cars, and none of them had exhaust stench and i didnt touch a thing back there, they are better for my health imo.

going to cali to visit girlfriend...need some driving advice
fl327 replied to Sparky's topic in Non Tech Board
i would take a cable car ride, from start to the end of the line, and just enjoy the view. if you can get into a game at 3com that would be cool, but the only cheap seats are in the nosebleeds, and thats where all the people who snuck in all the weed and hard liquor hangout. if you end up shopping on powel street and the union square area, you should try TADs steakhouse, great 10 dollar steak plate. there isnt a lot of cheap places in sf, period. hotels do have more rooms available than not. there is cheaper places, but the neighborhood might have you kinda freaked out.
