anyways sorry off topic, found my problem. intercooler pipe blocking full movement of the distributor, couldnt clock it where i wanted to because pipe rests on it slightly, nudged it and found i had another inch of adjustment left in it!!!!! did the adjustment, and the stutter is gone, just went by the book on this one, checked spark before fuel, and it was all in the dizzy, YEAAAAAAAAAAH BOYEEEEEEEEEE

i think thats a pretty slick move with the maf to get it run good on 370cc injectors, and those are awesome numbers, whats next on the upgrade list now? that 400+ torque number is nuts. everytime i drive my car hard, i start respecting the strength and power of the turbo motor, yesterday i went to 13psi and ran it hard basically all night long, was getting some spark knock around 6k, pulled the plugs, and they were grey and orangey, the way i likes em. anyways keep up the good work, i wanna see 20psi numbers!!!!

my helments too big for you, its a 49ers helment, yeah baby.

i dont know if it got me any hp, but i run a version of that kit i got off a silvia, but mine is from a company called EARTHING. basically i double grounded all of the efi grounds from teh manifold to the block, to a motor mount, to the battery, and around thhe other side of the car to the frame rail. i tested each before and after with an ohmeter and found that yes, VERY VERY little has changed in terms of voltage, but the car runs better now. I figure the same way you would share power from the battery to a million spots on the car, you can share ground, and plus, i dont have to worry about my eight thousand electrical add ons going out because of ground, because everything from the fuel pump to the harness to the electric fan is grounded a minimum of two times with 10ga and 8ga wire!!!! BUT I DIDNT HAVE TO PAY 100.00 for it, THATS NUTS

need help with some suspension/brake parts.. ideas?
fl327 replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
brake lines trick dual vice grips!!!! but make sure the force is balanced, if not, youll snap the hardline like a twig. -
youve got me scared now, my car does the same thing and my timing is good, havent checked pump voltage yet, is the pre filter same thing as the fuel filter in the engine bay???

Ahhhh more newb questions.... about that cold start injector
fl327 replied to a topic in Turbo / Supercharger
for some strange reason, i doubt that a normal injector fits right there, but do try it. i have to get an n42 manfold, but they are cheap so no big deal there, and see for myself too, or i am going to have my buddy machine it out for me to fit, or drill it out and have an injector bung welded up right there. if a normal sized injector will bolt in, I WILL. -

people like to frown on it, but im leaning towards doing something like that. one injector in or near the tb, and one where the csv is. i dont think stock that it is a full size injector, just helps a bit with the cold starts like it says. now plumb two 650cc injectors into the mix, now were talkin!!!! that may be my recipe, or my suicide formula, for getting 1bar from my t04e bb turbo. -
we go to your typical auctions, where peoples cars got towed for whatever reason and they are getting sold to basically pay for towing costs. i dont have the money to buy some of the cool stuff, saw a clean legend go for 1200, grand nationals usually get 2k plus-lot of demand. its a crapshoot whether or not the car runs or not, so i shoot for the cars i can get my money back on whether it runs or not. nobody bids on the turbo cars, they have the worst rep for blown stuff ever. san franciscans are notorious for ditching cars when they stop running, sometimes for some real dumb reasons, like a dead alternator or battery, downtown living is expensive as heck. my boss has a dealer liscence, so he can roll into the auto inusrance and dealer auctions, he grabbed a few gems too, he picked up a clean big body Lexus Ls400 with 131k for 9.5k, a freakin super deal if you ask me. ive gotten lucky a few times and really unlucky a couple times. i also have a buddy that owns his own tow yard, and get first dibs on cars there.

a 240z with no reinforcement will warp quick if subjected to hard launches, v8 torque, a manual trans, and the FL327 way of doing things. the pillar will be your first sign, man the early cars have almost no frame to speak of. a 280z, 77-8 models are dang near a full frame 75-76 is pretty close, but dont have as big of a door bar as the 77-8 cars do, those things have some heavy doors man. a v8 in a 280z saves you some time in a v8 conversion i think, and you can run the suspension a little more sloppy for drag racing, something you cant do in a 240z. many have r200 stock, and all had efi, whats not to love. ace the bumpers, put on an msa kit or adapt 240z bumpers, right there you have a great car to work with. and no exhaust smell, and i have original weatherstripping yes i love my daily driving turbo bov'd Z, YES I DO!

i liked mine, currently running a dial a boost type controller, it works well and consistent, i used it like a bleeder. one turn after you can feel the spring opening up equaling one psi in my case, and worked like a champ, three turns 11psi and no spike for me. its coming out im going ricer gadget APEXI with the blue screen over mounted where my tach is soon to not be!

also, after you make sure that the mustache bar is in all the way, dont tighten the two bolts on the back all the way in, the front mount never wants to just line up straight, and the rubber band on top of the diff helps the alignment get a little harder as well. i use a small flat head screwdriver to align it, thread in a bolt part way on one side, then the other side, then the two other bolts that hold the front x member to the frame should be lined up.

just went halves at the auction and picked up two starions for $280!!!! they have a bad reputation, as do all turbo cars at the auction, because either the turbo is gone, headgasket is blown, or both. so nobody bids, this has worked out well for me in the past, i once picked up a turbo 2 rx7 with a jdm tt swap in it for around 400, and drove it out of the auction sideways! well, one starion had a blown headgasket, so i pulled the rims off of it and sold the intercooler-and got my money back!!! the second one runs very good, the tires on the rims of the other one were very good so we swapped them out and sold the other set for 200-and made back our money entirely and actually made a couple bucks already!! so what do we do us being us? well, when we had the rx7 we found it loved running 22psi, so we say to us-well, why not the starion? adjusted the timing a bit and the advance on the distributor, and turned the boost up to god knows where, boost guage on stock dash will pin at idel, so we know we cant trust it. so we go and take it for a spin, we are boosting at least 15psi in the ghetto, with fireworks being thrown at us and what not, and the thing just runs like a raped ape, feels like a mid high 14, and the car has a stock LSD!!! car runs like a champ, no pinging, and not running hot, but we werent holding max boost longer than 4 seconds at a time though. we took it to a secluded spot by the railroad tracks and proceeded to whip about a hundred doughnuts in this thing, man this thing just keeps throwing out the love!!! im gotta get a lsd rear end for my car, we took a few hot turns in this thing and the feeling of control is just there, hard to explain but its just there. we might run this car at the drift competition tommorow at candlestick, watch out!!!

dale-will try to go back out to the strip once i get a clutch, found out last time to the track it likes to slip from the bottom of second on at high rpm. sucks. probably doing a six puck, dont want to pull trans again unless it wont shift! would love to go heads up with you at the track. i think the ideal supra ic would have to be the tt one, not only does it flow close to 500cfm, it does so bearly covering 1/4 of the radiator, which is good if youre running stock cooling system like mine, which ive found likes to heat up quite a bit in a downtown stop and go situation where it was 98 degrees out!

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ill be happy if i get a high 13 next time i go, ive done a few things to the car, need to practice the launch. funny thing is, on the street even with relatively low hp than a lot of you guys, there hasnt been one car on the street thus far thats been able to take the smile off my face yet!!! its even worse with this loud ass bov sneezing all the time, now they wont even try!!!!! hey jersey, how hot is it outside when you run that car of yours? im lucky to get 77 degrees in the shade!
-
i think its the 3.54 jersey, if you have 3.90s, were all doing something wrong here!!!!!
-
supra tt engine? you gotta beat me too it!!!!!!!
-
hey jersey, man whats up with getting into the 12s man!!! youre blowing the curve for us pretty bad. good stuff. i think you have 3.54, thats from me having a 83 zxt with the t5, its not as fast as your car by a long shot, but it has some really close ratio gears, when i get on it the 1-2-3 shifts are very quick. 1st is 3.5 and your car weighs a lot less, if youre leaving the line hard the 1-2-3 is gonna go fast, thats how the tranny is geared, it accelerates like you have a 3.9, but you have a good final ratio of .745 in that trans with the 3.54, so on the freeway with my car with stock turbo swastikas and 205/60/15 on them is turning 2800-3k at 76mph in fifth. i think you have a 3.54, the zxt is the heaviest of the first gen z cars, and has the fastest stock 1/4 times with only about 6psi of boost and a way heavier frame & tons of electronics. you gotta be helluva driver, that drivetrain must hate you!!!!!
-
maybe its the magic tranny ive heard bolts up, ive tried other rb20 trans and it didnt, maybe some of them do? i would love to hear how that works out, and im sure its geared more like the t5. please follow up.

i need your guy's advice: i need to toast a turbo supra
fl327 replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
yeah, at 5psi, those things are dogs. had one bone stock once upon a time, really really slow. they do have a headgasket issue too from what ive heard. -
Is there a 'cheap' way to up fuel pressure a couple psi?
fl327 replied to a topic in Turbo / Supercharger
two of some of my favorite old school tricks-the crushed regulator and the restrictor in the return line, gotta love it. i cant see going lean at 10psi with a intercooled turbo setup, when i first set car up with 3" exhaust, i was reading 9psi on the freeway, and 7.5-8psi street driving, i bumped it to ten a few times, it was fine, this was with no intercooler. with an intercooler, and 10psi its fine too, i just dont want to play with it too much until the weather gets a little colder.
