The Driving isnt as crazy as it looks, it just seems more intense on camera i guess. I wasn't driving super hard.

To turn it loose, turn it counter clockwise. To keep it from turning. I either put the tranny in 5th and pull the brake, or I have someone hold the camshaft with a pipe wrench and then turn the bolt loose.

Im still at home, so I can use the mini-van, dads truck, moms 2000 328i, Chrysler cirrus, motorcycle zx6r, or my brothers Z 75 280z. I prefer the mini-van as teh car to haul around all of my parts or go to the JY in. Ive fit engines in it no problem.

Unfortunately ive never had anyone to help me or stand by my side to tell me if I was doing something right or wrong, I would probably be much more knowledgeable to this date if I had known about hybridz and had someone to mentor me from the beginning, and had alot more fun/money. My good friend is into cars and is currently going to school for it and he has learned alot, so when he gets out, ill finally have someone to give me hand, plus he owes me for all the help with his car's. But for the past 3 years its just been you guys. Also, I recently made friends with a guy that does paint and body for a living he's mechanically retarded, but thats what im for lol.

If you REALLY want a Z then I wouldn't waste my time with another car unless you need to have a DD in the near future. Buying a 240z for 1,000 in good order will be difficult. I would stick to trying to find a 280z, get a 1975 if smogs going to be an issue. I picked my brother up a pretty nice 1975 280z and got it in reliable DD worthy running order for a total of 2,300 including the car and put a different engine and swapped for a 5 speed, he hasnt had any problems with it at all. If you really want one, it can be done. It wont be as big of a hole in your wallet as some say if you buy it and just get it in good running order. Its when you start adding mods that it gets VERY expensive.

I would stay away, he's asking too much. And it doesnt seem like he knows to much about cars. For 6,500 you could buy something alot sweeter than that.

I just picked up the engine, Its in great shape. the whole engine looks to be rebuilt along with the turbo. Even though it was a 81, it has an 82 dizzy on it. I got the whole thing including the wiring harness and oil cooler for $250. I was going to build the engine to put in my car, but my brother said he wants to use it for his 75 280z. it was an amazing deal, everything was there except for one fuel injector and the AFM. we also got a clean set of snowflake rims off of it also. Today was a good day.

Its sounds like the coolant head temperature sensor, try cleaning the connection on it first. If that doesn't work replace it.

So I thought I would let everyone know I finally found out what the problem was with my major power loss. I remembered that I had an extra actuator for the waste-gate, so I thought I would swap it out to see if it would fix anything. Upon removal of the actuator already attached to the turbo, I find that the vacuum line going to the actuator from the turbo was all cracked. When I took it off it broke into pieces..... I put a new line on and my car PULLS again. Such a STUPID problem. It was so simple and I couldn't find it this whole time. Im happy that the problem is fixed but pissed off at the same time.

So I finally got my valve cover off, turned out for whatever reason when I put my engine together I put the cam sprocket on #2 (shouldn't have since my chain kit is new) which advanced my cam timing 4 degrees. I put it back to number 1 on the sprocket and now my cam timing is good. This would explain a powerless on boost, but would it be as a significant powerless as I describe? I took the car out for a really quick spin, but didn't really get to test it very much as my headlights are out and it was getting dark. but I did a couple short pulls and I did notice a power difference in boost but it still felt a little slow and had a miss around 4,700 rpm's. But I do need to change those plugs, they are pretty fouled. What I would like to know is how big affect would the cam timing being advanced 4 degrees have on a turbo engine under boost? enough to describe the problem im having?

Dont remove your thermostat. Your engine will never reach operating temperature. Also It can cause your engine to overheat. Find a thermostat that works

I bought a set of calipers from him a while back and I received them. but I have to say I wasn't to fond of how he did business. not that he really did anything wrong, but he was one of those people that i didn't feel comfortable that i wasn't going to get screwed. I kno how you feel losing that much money, to some its not much but for guys like us its a big hit. last year I got scammed 350+ and part of that was also from a member here. The way I see it, if they live near you, go do something about it, otherwise stuff like this happens and you need to let it go because its really not worth the time. rather just make other people aware. I like to make peace with my loss by looking at some of the ridiculously great deals I have gotten in the past, and it evens its self out when you look at it like that.
