  1. True, but was not the case with me. My AFM went bad making my car run really rich. when I pulled my chts out, the car would idle much better. I thought it was my chts and was wrong.
  2. First clean all of your electrical connection. For my ecu connectors, I replaced them with 300zx ones(much better). It could be your AFM going bad. My car was doing the same thing you described when it went bad. When you say that your timing changes when you unplug the water temp sensor, thats because the car runs leaner with it unplugged, which advances your timing. If you clean all of your electrical connections and the problem persists, check your TPS, test your water temp sensor, and then AFM. And were your pops coming out of the intake or the exhaust? Have you checked the color of your plugs? what color are they.
  3. I was at the JY today and I saw an 84 300zx turbo, with only 84,000 miles on it. it was in great condition minus the front end damage from hitting a pole. Probably not interested but thought I would let you know anyway.
  4. I am having trouble with my clocks. A while ago I started pulling a clock from a Z every time I went to the junkyard. Determined to find a working clock I kept trying different clocks over the past few months. None of them worked, Two of which were quartz. I know have I think 12 clocks, and none of them work. I know they are notorious for going bad, but 12 and no luck?!! So I had a perfectly good working Quartz clock which was replaced by my boost gauge some moons ago. I thought to myself, this one has to work, it was working perfectly when I took it out. Wrong, didn't work. So today I picked up another quartz clock, tried it...nothing. Is this even possible to have this many bad clocks. Am I not doing something right when I put them in, Do I need to hit them first or something. And yes, I checked to see if I was getting power at the plugs;-)
  5. Alright so I took everything apart and Looked at it, and I cant see anything uneven between the hub and rotor. Is it possible that I bought a bad set of wheel bearings? Because when I was driving it today I noticed my car was randomly pulling to the right and then back left, when it used to only pull to the left.
  6. I have the flat side if the spacer facing the rotor and the dip part or the spacer facing the hub. Is this correct?
  7. Ill take the rotor off the hub and see if there is anything between it because the wobble just seems to be at only one small point.
  8. The tire is off. I forgot to mention there was pulsation when braking, I dont know how I forgot to say that. And the rotor was purchased brand new from ross. Is it likely that the rotor came warped? Ive only put like 100 miles on the car since.
  9. I recently did the toyota 4x4 VENTED conversion on my car. brakes feel awesome but my rotor isnt spinning perfectly straight and I cant figure out why. I first noticed there was a problem when I was backing up with my wheels turned all the way to the left. I heard a noise coming from the front right wheel. I looked at it and I couldn't see anything wrong visually. So I took a closer look at the the rotor. When spinning the rotor, the gap between the caliper and rotor gets smaller at a certain point while be turned. so obviously something is off but I cant figure out what. Things that have been changed are an added wheel spacer to fit the bigger calipers, The rotors ofcourse, and the wheel bearings. I took off the whole assembly and tried putting it back on with no succcess. Any ideas on how I can identify the problem?
  10. I think he meant 160 not 150, he wrote 160 in his second post.
  11. So are you saying that if you charge the battery it will start, but if you charge the battery and leave it for a few hours it wont. It could be the starter, or maybe the battery is bad, or maybe you have a constant draw and the battery is going bad.
  12. Nice Porsche, How do you like it. Thats the next car I want to get.
  13. LOL, I haven't watched that in a while haha. I Always find it funny though, that you can watch the most educational video on You Tube and it'll have like 500 views, but then you watch "Jizz In MY Pants" and it had 80 million views. No wonder people are so dumb.
  14. Im with you to, I like this song, its catchy All my friends gave me ♥♥♥♥ for listening to it because its apparently by some Disney channel girl, but now(month later) I hear them play it in there car. I immediately say, "I thought You said I was a FAG for listening to this song". My friend, "uhhhhhhhhhhh Ya its kinda cool I guess" With head facing window.
  15. Well why did it over heat before? Did you figure out why. Was it because of a bad thermostat, water pump, broken hose, bad radiator ect...
  16. Well if the car isn't moving and you don't have a fan, then you really don't have anything cooling your water. If Im at a stop light on my bike for a couple minutes the water temp goes way up really quickly. Just put a Fan back on or maybe an E-fan. problem should go away.
  17. You can tighten the spring on the AFM. But if the AFM has never been messed with before then either the AFM is going bad or your problem lies somewhere else.
  18. Hey guys, Just wanted to say this info was so helpful. I got sick and tired of dealing with my crappy AFM's so out of impulse I went to the junkyard today to get the materials needed and just jumped into this swap without reading much about it until today. I wired the whole thing up in a couple of hours and MAN what a difference did it make. My car hauls now and is running so much better.
  19. fuel pump is faily new new, fuel filter is new and I checked fuel pressure. Me and my friend diagnosed that its the AFM. WE got confused because I had to replace my old AFM(and like 5 other problems at the time) because it just went bad, and when we were having problems with this AFM(power loss) I couldnt remember which problem I had before because I had been dealing with so many other things, if that makes sense. What im saying is my old AFM didnt have the same problem as this one, I just thought it did because of my bad memory.
  20. hello and welcome, all of your questions can be answered by searching. here's a freebie for the diff question: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116207
  21. Engine is an l28et Ive been dealing with a bunch of bugs to get my car running for school and it looks like ive tackled all but one. The car runs fine under any acceleration, but Im having a problem when I hit a cruising speed. Once I hit approx. 2,200rpm or above and cruise, then engine doesn't die, but slowly losses rpm's and is powerless. The engine keeps lossing rpm's untill it hits 1,300 rpm, and then the engine kicks back in and I can accelerate. When this happens(engine losses power) if I let go of the throtle and push it back down then the car goes fine. It usually happens after the car is warmed up and it does it much more often then not. Things ive done: Checked, cleaned and rececked all grounds using multimeter Replaced AFM Plugs(gapped) Wires Dizzy CAP, and rotor cleaned every electrical connection in engine bay checked and ajusted TPS cleaned connections to ECU tried my other 2 ECU's Tried my other two Coils plus transistors. replaced water temp sensor replaced o2 sensor looked for vacumm leaks So with that I have it down to three things I think it could be. One being the distributor, Maybe the CAS sensor went bad? still dont trust connections to ECU And at idle I put the multimeter on the battery and it said my voltage was between 14.26-14.38. It never hits 14.40. when I tested it from the laternator it ranges from 14.4 to 14.7....ALT is a 70amp REMAN Its probably because of the fusible links but could this cause the problem im having? Ive only found one other thread that related to this problem. It was by tony D, If I read what he wrote correctly, he was explaining that if the AFM is bad it can result in symptoms like this. Ill try and dig the thread up. Heres what I was talking about, Its Tony's third post down:http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=125381&highlight=afm Sounds like my problem but it was doing this before I replaced the AFM.
  22. I dont know why everyone is hating. If I had extra money laying around I would buy this car in a heart beat. Just look at it, its halarious, the possibilities would be endless. You could trick it out with NOS stickers, turbo stickers... You could roll up to people with super cars, and act like you wanna race them. You could hit your anoyying neighbors garbage cans every week with it.I would also probably dress up as a super hero whenever I drove it with the T-Tops off.
  23. someone is giving away a 1970 240z on craigslist in the SF bayarea section.
