  1. Put some 2 stroke oil in the cylinders in through the spark plug holes so you don't destroy your rings.
  2. Talk to Tonny D If your looking to get into racing at Bonneville, he has a Z he races there and would probably offer more knowledge than your brain can handle! Good luck!
  3. How about red headed stepchild?
  4. Remember the 260 was the bastard Z, it got leftover parts from the 240 and new parts from the 280. So compairing two would be useless with out build dates. But as stated there is no need to reach the 7k redline in stock form.
  5. The only side effect will be a smile on your face. I am pretty sure that it's still considered with in spec.
  6. Very true! But a junk yard dizzy is around 20$, a LSx swap...... 2k it's up to you.
  7. Well here is a suggestion, do some searching for the GM HEI upgrade or the ZX dizzy (e12-80). Getting rid of the points will take the condenser out of the equation and should solve any future problems with spark.
  8. You are correct about the other condenser in the dizzy. Any more new info?
  9. So you are putting extra lights in the holes? Sounds veryinteresting.
  10. Check the lines after the mechanical pump. If it has fuel up to the pump the something is keeping it from your carbs. Try running your own remote electric pump w/ regulator and filter. See thae fixes it.
  11. Fresh battery? Grounds? Bad coil? Do a few checks with the multi meter then get back to us.
  12. Well the miata and an S30 are very close in most of the measurements, and in my opinion handle very much the same. Both have independant rears, and sit low to the ground, but this is not the full experience. I don't know many miata owners that get thumbs up every time they go for a drive. You can't take an S30 any where without hearing someone's life story at the gas station. Little kids drool in their windows staring at the Z (in almost any condition). It's a very different experience.
  13. Lofty goals of attempting to copy that Mazda dash. I look forward to the end result. My goal is small subtle changes here and there. Like the clock, who takes the time to modify their clock? The possibilities are endless. Good luck!
  14. Sounds like you might have a fairly fresh rebuild on your hands. Lucky you if done right, as for the cam who knows what you have you can visually check but with so many regrinds you would need to spec it out.
  15. Great job, not a bad find. As far as flaming for your engine choice, look around, next to the turbo swap the v8 is the most popular. Besides this is HybridZ that's what we do!! Welcome and keep up the progress.
  16. Yup, reaction disc OR bad booster (leaky) usual cause of said lack of pressure.
  17. Great job. Sounds like you have a handful of things on the table but you seem to balance pretty well.
  18. Great first run! Love the series 1 you have there and those floors were a little better than mine in my 72. Keep up the good work.
  19. Necro post: Tony did you ever scan these into a PDF???
  20. I recall reading somewhere ( L6 FAQ?) that BRAAP prefers the P79 for the quench, the reference was NA so I can't voice his opinion on turbo. It sounds like you have a great plan and back-up for when things go wrong. Planning is key for anything, you sir have thought about this and are ready to move forward. I say, do it and don't look back. And Keep reading! It blows my mind some of the things people have done with whats considered "old technology".
  21. Take out a spark plug at TDC and check it out. You can get an idea of what you have without taking off the head.
  22. Fast, Cheap, and Reliable equality had me laughing out loud.
