  1. LOL, Mike, you will never lose your baggage at this site.... student, buys 3 or 4 cars a year, goes thru our dream lists in parts on every car, and works in a nice import garage.... you are going to get nailed everytime you get a car, I am afraid. = ) The 6-spd in the S-15's are considered fairly unreliable from what I hear, but that SR20VE is a pretty cool little engine. I think it would be great in a daily driver, but I would go 5-spd personally if I was looking for performance. I would also check sites like http://www.sr20forum.com/ Lot of knowledge there, if you take into account that they are a lot larger community, so there is a lot more of the useless posting to sort thru.
  2. Come on.... dont leave us hanging = )
  3. lol, like Speeder's car and avatar arent mean enough already....! that will be something to see when it is done. I am interested also, but cant commit that soon... hopefully this works out and will be available down the road as well. tannji
  4. I currently run TPI in my 240.... what gains could I expect stock, and/or what would I be looking at to get some gains out of my relatively tame 350 setup with the MS ECU?
  5. sr240Z sells the engine cradle for the swap, not certain about instructions tho. The S14 or S15 rear swap is possible, but requires some modding... do a search on this site. Keep in mind if you end up with the S15 engine/tranny/rear combo that the 6 speed tranny is considered to be weaker and less reliable than the 5 speed. Also, while this may be one of the less expensive alternative Nissan swaps, it is still not going to be cheap, and requires ECU programming at the least, from what I have read. Jim Wolf does this, but is not cheap, and has issues with getting your product back to you in a timely manner.
  6. Do a search here for SR240Z or Vildini... Alex and his father are doing that swap with good results. They are in Cali, but I dont know if you have anyone closer.
  7. lol, I was stationed in Orlando, Florida back when the Navy had it's training station and Nuke school there. I ended up having to take every visitor I had to Disney World. I swore I would never go back.... and now the trogs and GF are making noises about a trip there. If I do end up there, I most certainly will not be riding that ride again... once was enough for me.
  8. anything over 9.5 seconds in that car would be tame..... = )
  9. if it is a fuel map from JW, wont you have to get a new one now? That is the major gripe I have read about in my recent studies, the need to send ECU's back to JW anytime anything significant is changed in your setup.....
  10. Wasnt there someone else doing this as recently as last year? I seem to recall a guy saying he was doing this, and was in the process of cutting a car in half lengthways to add width.... Interesting, but a bit too extreme for me, I would be thinking about a Subaru STI swap with big turbo instead...
  11. What flavor of UT are you playing dude? I moved from the Denver area to Iowa, so now UT and HybridZ are my main points of contact to the outside world, lol. I mostly play the UT99, newer 2K3 and 2K4 dont quite feel right to me and have to much going on graphically. tannji PS Just saw this is in the MegaSquirt forum.... perhaps someone will be able to steer me in the right direction.... (tho I will be going to read in the MS forums too) is this an appropriate management system for the SR20DET?
  12. LOL, was NOT aware, but would have been as soon as I got there... and I also think its worth the extra.
  13. Very nice wrenches! the metric version is on sale for $49!! gonna get me some of those, lol.
  14. Well, its gone, I should have quoted, rather than linked. The jist of the story was that the Prof. exaggerated on all counts in an attempt to scare the thief into returning it, key point they made was imagining Microsoft responding to ANY issue within 15 minutes.... lol.
  15. http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/FinancialSecurity/story?id=692448&page=1
  16. Drop them off at my house for 2 years and I'll develope a system.... better yet, just come live here for two years.... once I reclaim my garage from the GF's Fibber McGee tendencies, that is.... = )
  17. I believe the faster car was the Porsche 911 Carrera, but I also have to believe that the Atom could have been better driven than what we saw in that video.... I mean, he raves about how you cant miss an apex with it, then the "pro" driver is all over the place with it. If that car had any chance of being street legal here in the states, I would save for it. As it is, I will either have to be happy with the Z, or save for a Lotus, lol.
  18. This is a bit of a download.... but seriously worth it if you havent seen it already. In the same tone as that STI Go-Cart, but nicer, definitely safer... maybe even faster. http://www.openwheelers.com.au/videos/Top_Gear_Ariel_Atom_2_Full_segment.mpg I would give my eye-teeth to drive it, shame you could never legally drive it here. (I did a quick search, not sure if this has already been posted or not)
  19. Man.... things would have gotten interesting if the laser had gotten to the dry heat stage....
  20. I think he is referring to the tendency to follow the grooves and traffic wear in the road surface. One of my old Z's did this as well with larger front wheels and tires. I went thru the suspension and new bushings helped a bit, I think bump steer correction helped too, but I never completely got rid of it. I was told at the time that the tread pattern on my tires was a factor as well.... never got a chance to verify that though.
  21. where are ya? I might be interested in the roof, as I have a sunroof I wouldnt mind eliminating. I am on the Iowa Illinois border.... tannji
  22. Ya, I joined that forum about 3 weeks ago, as you said, they are not really into anything out of the ordinary there, just pointed me towards a couple of bolt-on performance shops. I think I will go the SR20 route for the fun of it, and think about building an 3RZ on the side for another chassis.
