  1. And that UPS truck motor will shake your teeth out. A VW TDI would make a good diesel swap, lots of aftermarket support, you can get 200hp out of one, and lots of torque. 40-50mpg easy.
  2. Not possible without completely reprogramming the ECU. MAP is just a pressure sensor and doesn't contain air mass information, completely different than a MAF/AFM that directly reports air quantity.
  3. I use this pad material in my 280ZX calipers, and they rock! Have not faded them on the track. They squeak like mad on the street, when cold, but still stop acceptably. When hot they are quiet and bite like crazy.
  4. With a Z, never stuck one. With my Subaru Outback, once, and it needed a new engine afterwards.
  5. At that rate, my VW will get 60mpg.
  6. You lucky dog. I'd love to find any Z in that shape, let alone a 240....congratulations.
  7. You must have a restriction in the return somewhere, and maybe in the regulator.
  8. Assuming the hot side A/R is 1.15, that's too much for most L28s, and will spool very slowly. Sounds like that turbo was for a Mazda rotary or something....
  9. I absolutely love the way you fit those rear tires inside stock fenders.
  10. There is volumes of information already posted on this site for this swap. Search newbie.
  11. That's beautiful, but actually it looks like you did some of the work outside the garage?
  12. It looks amazing, but zero fun on the street. I have trouble with dented exhaust and road bumps, and I'm still on a 1" lowered factory suspension.
  13. Don't rely on the ECU case to ground. I can't remember the specifics of how it drives the pump, but I'm not sure if the ECU takes the entire fuel pump current. Rather, I think it just drives the relay, pulling the relay coil to ground through a dedicated pin. The ECU does not need most of the extra stuff; a missing air regulator will not make a difference.
  14. The new content link is covered by my personal menu......I have to sign out to get updates.....ack!
  15. Is that a rocker stud that broke? Your car looks very nice, I really like the silver. How did you do your grille? My bumperless '78 needs something like that in front. It looks ragged without anything.
  16. The way I read it he has 12V on each pump terminal, meaning no voltage across the pump. The ECU is not supplying the ground to the pump. It's been a LONG while since I studied this, but I have a Z31 ECU and wiring in my S30. All I can suggest is to go back and study those Z31 wiring diagrams and relate it to the S30 relays. As I recall the Z31 operates the relay stuff differently so you may just have something operating in reverse of how it normally does. My car does a short prime cycle as soon as I turn on the ignition, and then turns on the pump full time as soon as the engine starts.
  17. When I bought my '78 it ran poorly and barely got 20mpg. After I put in a factory turbo motor and a T5, I get 30 mpg cruising 70 mph.
  18. I like 225/50/15s personally. Zero offset 7" wide fit, but I've got some 7mm offset wheels 7" wide that seem to fit very well.
  19. When I installed a set of Eibach progressives I had the rear springs in the front and vice-versa. They were incorrectly labeled. I swapped them around and got the right ride height.
  20. How much pressure can a MAF deal with? You wouldn't want any leaks. As far as I know, all MAFs are designed to run at atmospheric pressure.
  21. I ran a 3.90 with stock sized tires and the T5 tranny for a few years, and I hated it on the drag strip. First gear was useless, and second seemed too tall to launch. And 4th gear redlined before the traps, so there was a drop in acceleration or an extra shift, both cost me time. I went back to a 3.54 and that works really nice on the street and strip - redline 4th is around 125mph, right where you want to be with 400hp or less, and cruising in 5th at 70-80 nets me 30mpg.
